  1. Yeah, given performance and contract, Livan Hernandez probably isn't going to command much. Even in a thin pitching market. The Nat's biggest chip is Soriano, so that is where they will reap a reward if someone bites. All that said, I don't want him on this team. Sure he can eat up some innings (along with everything on the buffet table), but he doesn't give quality innings, so who cares how many innings he can throw.
  2. Find a way on Loretter. You know what happens next.
  3. I don't think their pitching is good enough. Every pitcher had a hot year for them last year. Buehrle, Garland, and Garcia have come back to Earth a bit. Vazquez has been hit or miss. Contreras, despite not losing a decision yet this year, hasn't pitched as good as last year either. They've been winning with the lumber, like we did last year, but they'll lose a bunch when they hit a cold spot, like we did last year.
  4. Middle of the plate. Belt-high. I'm catching a theme.
  5. LaLoosh. Yep, pretty much pencil Nuke in for 3 dingers every start.
  6. We're not Worthy! We're not Worthy! :ortiz:
  7. This just in, Bud Selig has announced that MLB is changing the name of a ball that goes over the fence in fair territory. It will no longer be called a 'home run', and will now be called a 'Beckett'. Usage: Did you see how far Papi's Beckett went? You can now return to your regularly scheduled programming. Hell of a catch, Trot!
  8. LaLoosh. Hey, what do you know, good hitters can hammer the hanging curve as well as the grooved FB.
  9. Hey Nuke, Crede looked a little off balance with that bender. Throwing more of those might be a good idea.
  10. LaLoosh. EDIT: Belt high, right over the middle. Those go a long way.
  11. Yeah, and Fox is broadcasting the game, so I'm sure they see Manny not being there as a potential threat to the ratings. No conflict of interest there.
  12. Did Garcia hurt his arm? He used to be more of a power pitcher, but now he's all soft-serve.
  13. Manny rakes. For those of you not getting Fox' coverage, the trio (Buck, McCarver, and Rosenthal) are making an issue of Manny not playing in the ASG.
  14. Konerko must have caught it off the end of the bat, because it looked like he squared it as it left the box.
  15. Thome scares me against LaLoosh.
  16. I waited until 5 minutes before game time (well, it looks like 6 by the forum clock) for MHOF to continue the mojo.
  17. http://www.geocities.com/timrobbinspage/pics/bd/002.jpg Ladies and Gents, I introduce Nuke LaLoosh. Beckett reminds me of the fireballing hot-shot that played for the Durham Bulls. Not in the way that LaLoosh was so wild that he couldn't throw the ball in the water if he was standing on a pier. No, Josh reminds me of the man that breathed through his eyeballs in the way that he thinks his 96+ heat is better anything anyone has ever seen before. Problem is, when they know it's coming, and it's coming fast, they can hit it a long way. Therefore, Josh is 'Nuke' to me from now until the day he shows he's actually going pitch, not just throw. It worked yesterday..... Ozzie, AJ, and Hawk, why don't you just..... http://gazuga.net/stuph/stfu.gif Win
  18. I'm wondering the same thing. I'll get one ready to copy and paste if he doesn't have it up by 1:15.
  19. I'm well aware of his career averages. I'm also aware that Papa Jack is proving to be one the better hitting coaches in the game. I don't expect him to hit like he has the last month. However, he won't hit like he did in April either. He'll probably be mix of the two, which is what his numbers are now. With his glove, that is more than enough, IMO.
  20. However, maybe the open market isn't the most important thing to him. AGon strikes me as the type of guy that feeds off the crowd a little. Perhaps playing in a packed house is appealing to him?
  21. Aloha. I live in Orlando as well. Where about town are you?
  22. Curt's contract was restructured in the offseason as part of the trade conditions.
  23. A couple of months ago.
  24. I thought I read somewhere that Perez' velocity loss was due to a change in mechanics because they wished to preserve his arm from his previous violent delivery.
  25. Veinte-y-uno. Make it happen, Manny.
