This type of stuff always corrects itself, but can a team be more unlucky than the Sox are right now? Every hop, bounce, bloop, bop, bip, bump, bimp, and boodle is going the wrong way right now.
I'm not sure moving Papelbon to the rotation mid-season is a viable option. It will take a while to stretch him out, and even once that is done it will probably take him a while to find his groove. I think that transition needs to be done in the offseason to be most effective.
At some point you have to if pitchers keep dropping like flies. They can't deal away their top 3-5 prospects just to try and salvage this year, IMO. They always have the option of working the waiver wire and finding lightning in a bottle. Or, picking up an expensive albatross contract for lesser prospects........but I don't think either of those scenarios make them a strong playoff club.
The more SP we lose the less in favor I am of making a move. If we only needed one, it's worth it to lose a prospect or two to make a serious run. If we need more than one, and right now we do, then another pitcher won't be enough. We'll need two, and the price gets too steep there, IMO.
There are several guys over at SoSH that keep pretty detailed MiLB stats on our guys. One of them posted that Youk is proned to occassional slumps, but his numbers stay good for the year because he's so good when it's going right.
Melky reaches on an error again. That's like 7 times over the past two weeks. Is this some rare talent of his?
EDIT: Oh, and it was with 2-outs......and, of course, Cairo sinlged in two runs right after that.
What bunch of babbling nonsense. Please go read SFiTs initial post. He wasn't making a true prediction. He was, in essence, doing what he always does, talking smack but in reverse since 90% of the time he ends up with his foot in his mouth. Good job missing the blatanly obvious.
I'm not mad at anyone. Although, your inability to get the point is quite frustrating. Here, let me put it in plain English since you suck at reading between the lines so bad.....
I WISH PEOPLE WOULD STOP TALKING s*** HERE.
It serves no purpose, and it just creates fodder for those that come here only to stir the pot.
Except, I explicity stated that I'm not in favor of banning him. So, you read between lines that weren't there. Basically, I tactfully expressed a desire that he shut up. However, your density has made that attempt at tact impossible.
Nobody really believes in that stuff. That said, it's part of the fun and character of the board. Try to keep up.
EDIT: Oh, and the only people who have mentioned the word 'ban' haven't been in favor of it. Try to read better.
Calling WMP a bust clearly shows your bias. He may or may not have been as valuable as Arroyo to this point, but he has been a valuable contributor. The Sox don't even have a 1/2 game lead if Harris or Mohr had to man CF when Coco was down. And, considering that Coco came back right about the same time he went down, all the Sox lost is a backup. Yes, Arroyo would help the team, but I don't think what his pitching ability is capable of in the AL East superscedes what WMP has already provided.
Yes, and unfortunately for the Yankees, they only have 3 games remaining against the Royals, while the Sox have 9. Fact of the matter is, they played the same NL teams the Sox did, but they were 6 games inferior in that regard. Try again, troll.
I'd have no problem if SFiT's posts went the way of the Dodo. He contributes little to the board, and it appears his antics don't help even a little. It would be OK if I saw some humility in the future, but I don't see that happening. I'm not suggesting he be banned, but I won't be upset if he decides to refrain from posting.
