  1. im betting hes gonna hear boos his next several at bats tonight
  2. yea haha, plus we did get the phillies fan blasting us while our boys swept their team. think still pissed how the pats got the best of the eagles
  3. very much better situation with orioles and us up at first place with yanks up to 10 1/2 games, its possible--true yanks are due any time to just erupt into wins, we need 10 or more games ahead of them to have breathring room truely
  4. i know that i said hes here in boston next season, cuz thanksgiving he signed a 2 year contract thru 2006 season
  5. welcome dirtdog, sure youll have fun on thses boards.. just couple of things to be warned, gets addicting to post on here, haha, plus of course yanks fans like to frequent the boards and down talk our boys saying ridiculous reasons why the sox won last season. get this YANKEESRULE said Schilling is Boston's cancer, so yea theyre kinda moronic of course. have fun and Go Sox!!!!
  6. players i see as tradeable that will help the sox right now is embree of course, mantei ((lets face it, the guy is not getting control so far and walking and hitting high number of batters so far)), and kelly shoppach ((varitek will eb around thru 2008, and mirabelli till next season)) think it would be best to trade him off so he can get a major league starting chance--agree with you dirtdog, all sox need to focus is strengthening their bullpen, that rockies pitcher i think be a good fit as a 7th/8th inning setup pitcher
  7. true he is able to get walks that then followed by power sox hitters. but just think about mueller, so far through 74 games, he has struck out a mere 30 times, having him in the #9 spot i bet would be hard for any pitcher, as i it is now for him in #8 position. Something Im hoping Francona plays with during the summertime, was checking transactions and in january sox had signed one year deals for both bronson and bellhorn...
  8. there will always be a team with a long playoffs drought, or championship drought, cant stop that at all
  9. alrite dude, lets tone down on the language, there are ladies preesnt on thses boards
  10. and now we have indeed the most sought after player during the trading period: Orioles I sure want expecting, but the Yankees I was of course expecting. Pitching is obstacle for them halfway through the season. Heres the article that includes yankees could possibly trade Chine Mine Wang but even "Flash" Tom Gordon, wow Inside Dish: Marlins put Burnett on trading block The Florida Marlins are considering trading righthander A.J. Burnett in a blockbuster move that would alter the pennant races in both leagues, Sporting News has learned. The Marlins are engaged in preliminary discussions about Burnett with the Orioles and a second, unidentified American League club. Their goal in trading Burnett, who will be a free agent at the end of the season, would be to obtain three major league parts -- a young starting pitcher, a quality reliever and a lefthanded hitting outfielder. Few teams would be willing to pay such a steep price. The Red Sox, awaiting the return of righthander Curt Schilling, are not currently pursuing a trade for a starting pitcher, be it Burnett or Giants righthander Jason Schmidt. The Yankees could get involved for Burnett if they were willing to trade setup man Tom Gordon and righthander Chien-Ming Wang, but that move could do more harm than good. The Tigers have had past interest in Burnett. The Angels, White Sox and Twins are not believed to be currently interested. Any team that acquires Burnett, 28, would need to be confident that it could sign him long-term. The Marlins, unlikely to retain Burnett, would prefer to trade him for immediate help than receive only draft picks if he departs as a free agent. Burnett threw a two-hit shutout Sunday against the Devil Rays, but for all his talent, he's only 5-5 with a 3.14 ERA this season, 41-43 with a 3.78 ERA lifetime. The Orioles, a team in search of a No. 1 starter, could prove a match for the Marlins if they are willing to give up either righthander Daniel Cabrera or Hayden Penn, reliever Jorge Julio and outfielder Larry Bigbie, with the Marlins likely sending them outfielder Juan Encarnacion -- another potential free agent -- along with Burnett. In recent years, however, the Orioles have shown great reluctance at acquiring potential free agents, passing on deals for first baseman Derrek Lee and righthander Tim Hudson because they could not sign them to contract extensions before making the trades. ... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- other trade news Here's how the Reds can trade beleaguered lefthander Eric Milton: By offering to pay half of his remaining salary to a team that plays in a pitcher-friendly park. The Nationals, Giants or Tigers might be willing to take a chance on Milton if they were paying him $4.25 million per season instead of $8.5 million. The price will be high for Rockies lefthanded reliever Brian Fuentes, who continues to draw significant interest from the Marlins and other clubs. Fuentes, 29, is 8-for-10 in save opportunities, opponents are batting only .202 against him and he is earning only $328,000; he becomes eligible for arbitration after this season. Brewers rookie second baseman Rickie Weeks drew nine walks in his first 59 plate appearances for an on-base percentage of .441, and his bat speed is something to behold. Weeks got down 0-2 in his first at-bat against Cubs RHP Carlos Zambrano, then fouled off a pitch and took a ball before hitting an RBI single to give the Brewers a 1-0 lead. ... The Cubs rejected the Rockies' offer of outfielder Preston Wilson for a package of three prospects. Wilson, who turns 31 in July, is only about 18 months older than A's center fielder Mark Kotsay but offers more power. Both can be free agents after this season. ... undefined
  11. wow im excited about the possible rotation by all star break 1. Schilling 2. Clement 3. Wells 4. Bronson (reports it could be wake goin to the bullpen, wouldnt mind that at all, 7th and 8th inning teams will have to start off facing knuckleballs after receiving steady dose of fastballs and curveballs) 5. Miller
  12. So what we lost a series to the Devil Rays. You guys lost series to the A's and M's who where pretty terrible. damn dude i keep finding flaws in what you say, haha sox swept the A's, sox then beat them 2 out of 3 sox took 2 out of 3 from the Mariners, then Mariners took 2 out of 3 basically in 4 series matchups, only lost 1--Not entire as bad as losing to the devil rays, both series the d-rays taking 3 out of 4
  13. I am very much looking forward to the man Schilling coming back, odds are startin to look his way to coming back before the all star break to face off against the orioles in camden yards, and then starting against the yanks in fenway, oh how sweet it will be to have a clement/schilling double punch
  14. i agree about wakefield but just more so cuz of his 3 consecutive outings recently he performed solidly. But really he hasnt been the ace since schilling left, in May thru beginning of june he was roughed up bad and lost 5 straight starts. The ace has surely been Clement, best record of the pitchers at 9 -1, his ERA is the lowest at 3.33, pitched the most innings, 83 strikeouts, you name it. Best offseason move the Sox had made last winter
  15. oh ok wow schilling is a cancer to the sox??? he struck out your guys 1-2-3, while his ankle was in pain and bleeding, thats ballsy
  16. ok dude i dont like him because first of all he tried to take on varitek, lets face it varitek is much bigger in comparison and easily steamroll him. nother reason why i dont like him, last october that friggin cheating move he thought he could get away with by slapping the ball out of bronson's glove
  17. be a cool matchup if possible, Schilling vs. Buehrle--i checked schedule, it will be 4 games in chicago week before the deadline, then 3 games set at fenway in mid-august
  18. i do agree with you there somewhat, white sox goin from last season's numbers to this season's standings of 50 - 24, very good for these days--th red sox will be facing them next month and in august, both 4 game series i think
  19. Oh no i was just adding olerud and youkilis in cuz of replacement issues, have them be at same batting order as millar and mueller are of course. Having Mueller at ninth would be a good fit, cuz really then opposing pitchers would have to face johnny rite after him
  20. omg he was trying to act like the tough guy, hes the man kinda act, spitting into his gloves before grabbing hold of the bat--lol I always remember the scowl he was making when the sox won the pennant, the only one left in the yankees dugout walking back and forth lookin at the sox celebrating
  21. Well the Red-hot Sox come back to home after sweeping the road trip, first time since 1977 for that matter. And who better to face, but the Cleveland Guardians who our boys fought valiantly to sweep them. Bronson Arroyo will again face off again Milwood. Lets be hoping Bronson brings his A-game like last one posting a 1.29 ERA for the 7 innings he performed solidly. As for Milwood's 7.5 ERA last time out--bosox got to them early as they tend to do, he lasted 6 innings giving up 7 hits, 6 runs which included 2 homeruns... As far as I know lineup will return to normal as follows 1. Johnny Damon 2. Edgar Renterria 3. David Ortiz 4. Manny Ramirez 5. Kevin Millar 6. Jason Varitek 7. Trot Nixon 8. Bill Mueller 9. Mark Bellhorn
  22. best nickname ive heard for him: Big Unit, Little Johnson
  23. that makes no sense that you can only be fans to sports teams in your homestate
  24. im a diehard sox fan but also im a fan of the Washington nationals as well, hard to believe last season they were the underachieving Expos
  25. francona said bellhorn will be back in the #9 spot for tonite, kind of a shame, heres my fantasy lineup for the current roster 1. Johnny Damon 2. Mark Bellhorn 3. David Ortiz 4. Manny Ramirez 5. Edgar Renterria 6. Trot Nixon 7. Jason Varitek 8. Kevin Millar/John Olerud 9. Bill Mueller/Kevin Youkilis
