  1. I know one thing, he was a player that was for the fans. Signed as many autographs as he could and I believe he gave away like 30,000 frigging tickets to people less unfortunate than others. He wouldve built on his stats moreso if not for glaucoma that had blinded his right eye, a career cut short. He just died, so sorry if myself and others arent giving credit or merit to a thread thats ripping at him.
  2. yea ok, whatever. Each season he totals more starts/innings pitched. I do believe that I see a trend.
  3. What a sad day, just 44 too.
  4. final pitching stats. Craig Hansen calmed down from his first outing, where he had lacked control. Serrano, Breslow, and Bumatay (non-roster invitees) continue to make a good impression on me. Breslow, a strong young lefty, I believe could have a good shot of being called up sometime this season. Josh Beckett- 3 innings, 5 Hits, 5 Runs, Walk, 2 Ks, 15.00 ERA Jimmy Serrano- 1 inning, 1 Hit, Walk, 2 Ks, 0.00 ERA Craig Breslow- 1 inning, K, 0.00 ERA Craig Hansen (W 1-0)- 1 inning, 1 Hit, 0.00 ERA Tim Bausher- 1 inning, 2 Hits, 1 Run, 2 Ks, 4.50 Mike Bumatay- 1 inning, Walk, K, 3.00 ERA Franklin Nunez (S 1)- 1 inning, 2 Hits, 1 Run, 4.50 ERA Expect more pop in tomorrow's game as Manny will DH against the Orioles.
  5. http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=129178 It was also talked about on tonight's FSN Sports Tonight, as well as WEEI radio. But they never went into specifics
  6. oh give it a rest 1) -- Are you suggesting he made that up in the past? 2) its spring training, period
  7. Ok Ive been hearing for the past couple of days, that Boston could go into the season with a 10 man staff? Even with Papelbon in Pawtucket, that would still leave Boston with 11 pitchers
  8. Beckett's first true start is projected to be game 3 against the Rangers at Ameriquest Field
  9. Maybe he can get some earplus from Raffy Seriously, he shouldnt be surprised that there will be booing. A much loved Red Sox who ends up joining the Yankees, pretty much seals a deal right there to be booed My Prediction: He will sever all ties he had with RSN, the morning after his first game back at Fenway Park. Talking to media after the game & for probably so much more time after, he will blast Boston fans for "dis-repecting him". Then he will put out a crappy "Im sorry" ad in the Boston Globe, but that will be 3 months after his homecoming.
  10. yeah Im not sure why the Sox had traded him to the Phillies, he was giving them good production ------------------- Al Leiter is following suit, and will be the 4th member of the 2005 Yankee team who will retire this offseason.
  11. Damon is just like a broken-record, he's talking to reporters even more now about the contract talks. Would you let it go already? He's really being a whiner by now.
  12. With Wells staying, Im actually leaning toward the decision to have Paps start the season in Pawtucket. Its a full staff as it is, and I want to see him get used as much as he deserves, which might be in Pawtucket until something can be cleared for him. :dunno:
  13. First spring training start, so its just a workout really for him. He'll get better Other notes, Mohr is looking good thru spring training, of course his 2-run jack had helped. Machado is still looking good, I hope to see him up in Boston again
  14. Heyy, welcome back
  15. pitching stats for today's game Tim Wakefield- 2 innings, 3 Walks, 2 Ks, 0.00 ERA David Riske (L 0-1)- 2 innings, 4 Hits, 3 Runs, Walk, 12.00 ERA Rudy Seanez- 1 inning, 3 Hits, 2 Runs, Walk, K, 18.00 ERA Manny Delcarmen- 1 inning, K, 0.00 ERA Cla Meredith- 1 inning, K, 0.00 ERA Mike Holtz- 1 inning, 2 Ks, 0.00 ERA
  16. not to worry, I dont see Clement being here in 07. The presence of Paps & Lester will have the Sox FO shopping Clement from now thru the 06 offseason. Last I heard on the hot stove talks was that Milwaukee could be interested in re-visiting talks with Boston for Clement. The Brewers have Carlos Lee, who would be a great addition to the Sox lineup
  17. Boston 7 News has just reported that David Wells will stay in Boston for 2006, which will reportedly be his last season of his career as well. He had a sit-down meeting with Theo, expressing his new-found desire to play in the heart of Boston With that, the projected opening day rotation will be Curt Schilling Tim Wakefield (Francona has indicated Wake will be the 2nd game starter) Josh Beckett David Wells Matt Clement EDIT: http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/
  18. Renteria was traded 2 weeks prior to Damon signing with NY
  19. im not worried, its moreso that im anxious
  20. Ive heard a good # of times that Coco is a first pitch hitter and he doesnt take his pitches. But early on he has been taking and making the pitchers work, something I bet we are all loving. Papa Jack probably has been doing some work with him. Willie Harris has been havin lengthy ABs also, expect him to inhabit Stern's role in late April. It could be sooner because Im starting to hear again that he might be hurt, Jason Bay could be moved to center in the WBC if its pro-longed.
  21. 0-4 against the grapefruit league, the double-header sweep against the college series doesnt count. Also something absent is HRs, zero in the first 6 spring training games. Im aching to see or hear about a Sox HR
  22. thats sad if the sox have to give them financial aid on a $2 million contract.
  23. Riske & Seanez are still showing some rust thus far. 3 runs given up by riske in 2 innings, 2 runs so far for Seanez in 1 inning. I hope they can get anything down Pat
  24. What a play by Flaherty & Wakefield Bases loaded-- passed ball, Flaherty dove for the ball and flipped it to Wakefield. Wake took the brunt of the runner sliding home and held onto the ball. Out #3
  25. wow awesome the game is actually coming in through mlb.com . Haha the 2 Twins announcers for like several minutes didnt even know they were live. One was picking his ear while talking to his producer, the other one was talking about how he had to call his wife. Great stuff On a sadder note, Twins' great Kirby Puckett has suffered a stroke my thoughts & prayers will be with him
