  1. Selig is starting an investigation of Barry Bonds http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5417156
  2. The Patriots have officially cut Tyrone Poole http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2371085 This now ups their cap space to $19 million.
  3. Along with Brown, the Jets are also eyeing Tim Dwight MCHammer, I know we shouldnt worry like this... but right now the Pats have just 2 WRs. Deion Branch, and the often injured Bethel Johnson. The free agency WR options are dwindling up fast, and the draft market is thin in that area this year. They are also taking a big gamble letting Vinatieri test free agency, Green Bay is now making a serious run at him.
  4. Keyshawn Johnson's name is starting to be brought up more. Of the remaining free agent wideouts, he's actually the best of the bunch (besides the team wrecker T.O) and would seem to fit the Patriots mold. I believe Belichick could keep him at bay
  5. oh cmon, this is just crazy. Im not liking the Pats that much right now
  6. He has the same number in Cleveland to boot, that has churned my stomach
  7. Timlin (USA) & Tavarez (Dominican Republic) are still out in the WBC, so they will be back next week. Papelbon is still working to regain his command, after his first 3 starts of the spring. ----------- Here's a promising report on Schilling & Wakefield
  8. Aaron Small will join Carl Pavano on the opening day DL.
  9. I know Belichick always has a plan. Ok well you can present it now, the quality free agents are drying up and New England is twiddling their thumbs with $17 million under the cap. I dont know what to think if Vini leaves
  10. Riske had pitched a scoreless inning of relief in yesterday's loss, giving up 1 Hit EDIT: Okk so Sox lost 3-1, fifth straight overall. This now drops their spring record to 3-10 ---------- Loretta continues to hit well, as Youk is batting back from his recent 0 for 11 start. Pitching, David Pauley gave off a respectable 4 innings allowing 2 runs to score. Seanez had pitched a scoreless inning of relief, and Hansen again added another scoreless inning to his spring stats.
  11. Rudy Seanez has followed David Riske, and pitched his first scoreless inning, took him until his 6th inning of the spring to do so. I hope this is the beginning of the 2 turning it around.
  12. Well... I might be wrong, but I think its Coco Crisp taking his place
  13. If anyone wants to watch, today's spring training matchup of NY vs Astros is right now on ESPN. ----------------- Mussina looked sharp in his outing against the Astros 5 innings- 3 Hits, 1 Run, 1 Walk, 8 Ks
  14. Ken Rosenthal I can understand his rant on Lowell, just 3 for 21 (but 0 errors in 7 games). However, I dont see his logic in saying that the team should be concerned about Snow. He has been playing some great D this spring, let alone he's been hitting well. 6 games- 5 for 16 (.313 avg) Double, 6 RBIs
  15. Even if Mike Lowell wasnt sent here, I still think Mueller wouldve left anyway. Besides the fact that Youk is ready to play every day, Mueller was looking for a mult-year deal. The Sox were said to at most offer him an incentive-laden 1 season contract. Lowel's defense is what Im not worrying about at all, he & Gonzo will form one of the best left sides of the infield in the AL this season.
  16. Patriots' guard Stephen Neal is meeting with the Vikings http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/2006/03/neal_visits_vik.html
  17. Dustan Mohr has hit his 3rd HR to bring the Sox closer, 7-5. He leads the team in HRs for the spring, is batting around .500, and has shown some great "D" plays. The Red Sox lose 9-7, their 4th straight loss, dropping their record to 3-9 ------------ today's stats Coco Crisp, Trot Nixon, & Dustan Mohr continue to hit well this spring. Mike Lowell had went 0 for 2, he is now batting 3 for 21 (.143 avg). In pitching, Bronson as noted got rocked in his 3rd straight start. DiNardo didnt have a good return. Breslow added another 1.1 scoreless innings to his stats. Riske had himself a scoreless inning, 1st one this spring.
  18. Well there's the security of knowing he's locked down for 3-5 guaranteed years then just an option year for him. Also i wouldnt feel comfortable with Sox waiting till the end of the 07 season to start the contract talks. Which is along the same lines of what Papi had said couple of months ago.
  19. I believe there is still a chance for Vinatieri to come back to New England. But not McGinest, its looking like the Browns with Romeo or San Diego which is where his home is. Other News: 4 years of Kitna, yeaa Detroit really knows how to get things done. Also Drew Brees is close to signing with New Orleans. He could be in the same situation as was with the Chargers, since the Saints are expected to draft Matt Leinart.
  20. Great to hear, its well deserved. Now I just want to hear that the Sox have made another extension that they said will happen during spring training... David Ortiz. Course he's now in the WBC, so hopefully its hashed out before the season starts.
  21. damn daunte in florida now, huh? This deal will certainly give Miami an edge to compete with the Pats now.
  22. Okkk so coming into today's game, Bronson has made 2 shaky starts--10 hits, 4 Walks, 8 Runs in 3.2 innings (19.64 ERA) Today in the 1st inning against the Reds, he plain & simple hasnt gotten better 1 inning- 3 Hits, Hit Batter, Walk, 5 Runs Last start he made an excuse that the long bus trip had tired him out, like in August where he blamed his performance on rock show the night before. Whats the excuse this time Bronson? updated stats- 13 Hits, 3 Hit Batters, 5 Walks, 13 Runs in 4.2 innings pitched
  23. God Wells has to be a brat about anything. After the mess he put the front office through (trade demand over the offseason, then taking it back during spring training), yeah he deserves to be the game 2 starter. Who cares what game you start if its off by 2 days? You had to see it coming anyway with Beckett being acquired. Shut up about the littlest things and pitch.
