  1. The Pirates are reportedly looking into doing a trade with Boston Pittsburgh- Matt Clement (Boston would have to pick up part of his salary) or they might take back Bronson Arroyo Boston- Craig Wilson, and Boston would likely ask for one of the prized pitching prospects to be included Intriguing trade possibility http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/tribune-review/sports//s_434540.html
  2. I had heard on WEEI yesterday, Chris Snow was reporting from spring training camp and gave his best guess of what the opening day (Apr 3) lineup would look like. Of course as he noted, its hard to guess with Tito who makes changes up to right before the 1st pitch is thrown. Snow also mentioned he is getting a very good indication that Dustan Mohr will make the team straight out of the gate. 1. Coco Crisp CF 2. Mark Loretta 2B 3. David Ortiz DH 4. Manny Ramirez LF 5. Jason Varitek C 6. Mike Lowell 3B 7. J.T. Snow 1B (to offset the ammount of righties in the back of the lineup) 8. Dustan Mohr RF (Though Millwood is a righty, Trot is just 1 for 15 facing him) 9. Alex Gonzalez SS

  4. Alright, but the Sox can still decline his option even if he pitches that certain ammount of games.
  5. This is Foulke's last season of his contract. Even if he has a good year, I see him walking on to another team.
  6. Classy guy, I wish he couldve retired as a Patriot. I wish him the best in whatever he does from here on out.
  7. today's stats Of course as noted, Papelbon threw 5 shutout innings. He allowed just 1 hit, 3 walks, and struck out 2 batters. Kevin Youkilis belted his 3rd HR of this spring, this being a towering 3 run shot. Alex Gonzalez had picked up his 3rd RBI of the spring, Youkilis is up to 9 now.
  8. That is why I talked about Boston holding back Manny from the Guardians, I want him here as much as the next person
  9. how come Boston held back on sending him to Cleveland and pushed them to take on Mota instead?
  10. And the game has ended in a tie of 5-5, this now makes Sox's record at 4-11-1. The Sox put up a nice 5-0 cushion, but some reliever kid named Smith gave up 5 runs. He was all over the plate, including a hit batter and couple of walks
  11. The Patriots have a free agent signing, wide receiver Reche Caldwell from the San Diego Chargers http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/ Also Deshea Townsend has instead re-signed with the Steelers. The deal is worth at 4 years/$8 million. Ok that deal the Pats could have easily matched or done better. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2372706
  12. They are all coming off of a 5 month hiatus, Im standing Pat that Lowell will be able to ease into things. Ive seen him some long doubles which went toward left field, hin hint ; )
  13. If Vinatieri slips through the cracks, all I can say is damn you Scott Pioli. Oh no, not $3 million at the most to lock a kicker up, please. I gurantee the Patriots F.O. will have to do serious damage control after losing the best clutcher kicker in NFL history. Yes lets have instead the jackass Vanderjact who is not even close to being clutch
  14. Dont say you believe his shoulder hurting was because of getting ready for the WBC? I thought that it was evident that its the same bum shoulder that almost sidelined him in the 2nd half (cortizone shot after cortizone until it was max ammount they could give him)... The WBC isnt what caused it, good chance it wouldve flared up if he stayed in florida
  15. That is his 1st apperance you are talking about. Since then he's thrown 5 more shutout innings, issuing no walks Mike Timlin is likely to retire after this season. Manny's the perfect fit to take over the 8th inning role. Im just picturing a great duo of Manny & Hansen at the back of the bullpen.
  16. That they did, like in tonight's game in the 8th inning had Griffey hitting a line drive down the 1st base line which was stopped by gonzalez. The 1st base umpire motioned it was foul, giving Griffey another chance. Even though the instant replay showed the abll was clearly inbounds up until Gonzalez had stopped it
  17. the sooner the better for Varitek to come back and work with the pitchers, new & old
  18. Beckett has faced several batters from AL teams, but a good deal of his starts will be 1st appearances. Now facing the DH, I still feel certain its something he can be able to learn through Based on 2006 schedule, teams he has faced Braves White Sox Mets Phillies Mariners Nationals teams he hasnt faced Angels Orioles Guardians Tigers Marlins Royals Yankees Twins Athletics Devil Rays Rangers Blue Jays
  19. the ESPN announcers were pegging it on Francouer who was leaning off of 2nd, but still most of blame should go to Buck Martinez. You have 2 men on with on outs, Michael Young who is 4 for 13 (.308 avg) in the series and you are having him bunt?
  20. Rotoworld: From the Chargers, Caldwell has had 2 of his 4 seasons cut short due to injuries. His career high in catches is 28, career high in yards is 352 EDIT: Update on Deshea Townsend... http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/4346/career;_ylt=Atxjkz1uAH2nflInc3WqEhX.uLYF According to WEEI, Townsend had a great time over at Gillete Stadium today. The agent was quoted as "He's having a wonderful visit and it's coming down to the wire. We're moving pretty quick." The Steelers are also vying to re-sign him. Could the first free agent signing be afoot here? If so, I'll like this signing. Added insurance in case Rodney isnt back 100%
  21. It says here that during baseball games, green tarps will be placed over the upper deck's seats to reduce the available seating to from 44,100 to 34,000 http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5418206
  22. With Alex Cora, Dustan Mohr, Adam Stern, and Willie Harris (outfield/infield/capable pinch runner) ahead of him. I still think they will go with the plan to keep him in Pawtucket as an emergency reserve player.
  23. Over in St Petersburg, the Sox had another loss. This being 7-2 takedown by the D-Rays. The Sox's spring record stands at 4-11. Jon Lester had another outing where he couldnt make headway. In 2 innings he had allowed 4 Runs on 4 Hits, 3 Walks, and 0 Ks. Jimmy Serrano had pitched 2 scoreless innings of relief, likely to be placed in Pawtucket. Matt Ginter allowed another run, likely to be released any day now according to WEEI. On offense it was Dustan Mohr who drove in the 2 runs the Sox were able to score, he is now batting .409 this spring. Enrique Wilson went 2 for 2 with a walk. As mentioned, Sox could keep him in Pawtucket as a reserve infielder. Coco Crisp collected a hit and grabbed his 4th stolen base
  24. After a 5 game losing streak, and 7 out of their last 8, Sox turned to Beckett. He delivered a win. In 5 innings he allowed just 1 run on 5 Hits, 1 Walk and struck out 2 batters. Riske pitched his 2nd scoreless inning. Craig Breslow had allowed his first run after going 6 straight innings without such. Despite giving up a solo shot, Manny got out of it and earned the save. On offense, Mike Lowell had himself a 2 hit game. Youkilis is coming back still, collecting his 6th RBI of the spring, Manny with his 5th.
