  1. All I say is where do I sign up for that trade to get Wily? He would be a HR threat at Fenway Park, though Papa Jack would need to work with him on his strikeouts and taking walks. But doing this trade could result with a trade of Trot.
  2. I knew Varitek would better the situation now that he's back. Bronson had thrown 5 solid shutout innings, no walks and striking out 4. Wakefield followed with 3 shut out innings, for the spring he has not allowed a run in 9 innings. Seanez gave up a solo HR to the leadoff batter, then retired the next 3 batters. EDIT: stats. Record is now 6-11-1
  3. Great 3-1 win by the Red Sox against the O's, whose starters stayed in for most of the game. I think we saw what we will see for the season, great pitching with solid D behind it. I'll post the stats when they come available...
  4. its on rotoworld now -------------- Dirt Dogs too, with the article fully translated into English http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/
  5. I hope to see more of that Millar tried to steal a base from varitek ----------- EDIT: And that would be Manny with a solo shot. His first of the spring
  6. opposing team, of course as the team they are facing Kevin Millwood in 7 games vs Boston 3-2 record with a 3.71 ERA Curt Schilling in 6 games vs Texas 2-0 record with a 3.78 ERA
  7. very cool, today's game features all the infield/outfield starters for the first time
  8. If Im correct in understanding, it mentions Ron Calloway with Gabe Kapler as a backup outfielder. Not sure where they got their information, but Calloway doesnt have a shot of making the big league team. At best they could offer him a minor league deal.
  9. Gordon Edes, boston.com/sports Judging that now Wells first start is April 12. This is what it could look like through the 3rd series of the season @ Texas April 3- Curt Schilling vs Kevin Millwood (Both have good stats against opposing teams, cool to see a pitcher's duel to start the season off) April 4- Tim Wakefield vs Adam Eaton April 5- Josh Beckett vs Vicente Padilla @ Baltimore April 7- Matt Clement vs ? April 8- Curt Schilling vs Bruce Chen April 9- Tim Wakefield vs Rodrigo Lopez Toronto- Home opening April 11- Josh Beckett vs AJ Burnett if healthy (nice duel between former teammates) April 12- David Wells vs ? April 13- Matt Clement vs ? EDIT: Lets hope Matt Clement changes his ways of facing Toronto.
  10. Sorry if Im not going to be hoping that Schilling, Wakefield or Wells goes down just so Papelbon can get a rotation spot You make it sound like him being in the opening day rotation is a bad thing. What would be inconsistent is give him up to 5 innings at most per week. So he's now insurance for Foulke, Seanez, Riske & Tavarez? Thats an upgrade over insurance for Foulke.
  11. Perish the thought of opening up a spot in the rotation for Papelbon Other than that, yes I would take Craig Wilson over Gonzalez. He's got more to give in his career than Juan who is on the brink of retirement. He's much more versatile than Juan, who has only played right in his whole career. Craig meanwhile can play right, left, center, 1st base, and can catch if need be.
  12. no. Dont you think if Gonzalez is now guaranteed a spot with the Red Sox, that it wouldve been reported on ESPN, NESN, Foxsports, mlb.com, boston.com, boston herald The list goes on
  13. right, again come back when its reported by someything more reliable than this.
  14. Okkk then why hasnt it been reported by a reliable source, something local. A source that I can fully read. There's no room for him, Stern is taking up the 25th spot until his 17th day. And Dustan Mohr has done more than enough in spring training to secure the role of Trot's platoon partner. Juan's going to play just a couple of games in Pawtucket then be called up? It just doesnt make any sense
  15. Its only a minor league deal If he was officially a Red Sox, it wouldve been on ESPN, NESN, etc.
  16. its just a minor league deal. Besides Dustan Mohr is showing this spring thus far that he can be a serviceable platoon partner for Trot. Id even take Adam Stern over him, and Stern is a left hander. Juan Gonzalez in right field of Fenway Park would be a defensive liability. Basically what we saw from Jose Cruz in his brief stint last season.
  17. haha yea she was quite the cold one something like "anyone know where I can get a clip of Clement getting hit? I just find it funny to see people get hurt"
  18. If true- Thats pretty sad, though not unexpected, that Sheffield would throw away AB's as sort of a protest. Now if he starts doing this during the regular season...
  19. Julian Tavarez & Papi are coming back Who wouldve thought the WBC would end up with Cuba vs Japan or Korea?
  20. Today the Red Sox came out on top 8-4 against the Blue Jays. $55 million man AJ Burnett left the game in the 2nd inning. Its being called an elbow injury, other than that, the team is keeping mum. Scott Downs would be the next candidate to start if Burnett begins the season on the DL. Lenny DiNardo started and tossed 2 shutout innings to get the win. Rudy Seanez had his 2nd consecutive shutout inning, while Riske really is continuing to struggle. Someone has to mention to him that opening day is 2 weeks away now. At the plate saw 2 Hrs, Enrique Wilson with a solo and Adam Stern clubbed a 2 run HR. Stern today, like in the WBC was a triple short of making the cycle. Cora in his debut game went 1 for 4 with an RBI.
  21. If Chacon could just keep his control down, then there'd be no stopping him. It was something around 80 pitches in 4 innings. He allowed 7 baserunners in that time (5 Hits, 2 Walks). True it was just 1 run. But offensive teams like the Rangers & Red Sox for example will make him work. I just heard that Tanyon Sturtze is nearing the possibility of entering the season with Pavano and Small on the DL.
  22. If Pats los Vinateiri over just a gap of $500,000... I wont know where my faith will be in the Pats F.O. The options are Edinger who averages 10 missed field goals a season, and most of his games have been played in a dome. Then there's the jackass Vandergat, oh yeah he's clutch... when it doesnt count. No matter who they find, no kicker will be good as Vinny and they know that
  23. Its just one game. And this is for the opening game, April 3, not for the season. Hence Dustan Mohr filling in for Trot who hasnt had success against Millwood. This is also just Chris Snow's prediction of what it will look like.
  24. David Wells just keeps it rolling. Quite the professional as he call his manager Tito an idiot while talking to reporters. But at the same time of saying that, he is now OK with being held back until mid-April. Gordon Edes has mentioned that Wells first start would then be April 12. http://www.courant.com/sports/baseball/hc-redsox0318.artmar18,0,2154886.story?coll=hc-headlines-baseball
  25. Right off the bat, I just knew TO would end up in Dallas. He'll act like a professional his first season, and the by year 2 he will start griping about his contract and become a clubhouse cancer. Its clockwork. ------------------ Another Patriot target is gone. Tackle Jason Fabini has signed with the Cowboys for 3 years/$6 million. Pats are said to be hoping to re-sign Ashoworth, but thats not likely to happen. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2372555
