  1. Yea youre quite the respectable poster. You do make threads into yankee vs so arguments. Its always the same thing entwined: ripping the Sox FO, media, and us Sox fans Something Ive said before, Bronson for this season & forseeable future would see his main role doing mop-up duties. Now he's going to Cincinatti and being placed as the #2 starter in the rotation (33-35 starts compared to several spot starts). Im happy for him and hope he does well. About his handshaken agreement--Yes this is baseball, which is why it should always be written onto the contract. This was a deal that Theo couldnt resist. For 2006 Wily will be an asset in the sense he will mainly be seeing left-handed pitching while filling in for Trot. He held a .291 avg against south paw pitching, Trot's was just at .227
  2. (1) as noted its spring training, he is just starting to get back to pitching. Veterans are keen to getting back to pitch faster than rookies. (2) This has been the first time he's faced batters above AA (3) The Sox have been offered Schilling (instead gave Fossum), Randy Johnson, Beckett (instead gave Sanchez), Jeremy Reed. The Orioles were also keen on asking for Lester when the Sox & O's were exploring a trade for Tejada without Manny in the mix. A trade of Lester wouldve been done for those names mentioned, if the Sox FO feels like you do.
  3. Yawn all I have to say is whatever Yeah and im sure Coco Crisp & Mark Loretta (both tearing up spring training), as you have said won't live up to expectations for us this season. Regardless each thread that you make leads to the same thing: Red Sox vs Yankee arguments
  4. Id love it if the Pats were able to get ahold of Moulds. Belichick could keep his oft rants at bay, for him & branch to give Brady 2 reliable receovers down the field.
  5. True point, as that was a rare trade Ive seen the Pats do with a team in their division
  6. per rotoworld: Keyshawn Johnson's next free agency visit is going to be in Foxboro Bill Moulds has been granted permission from the Bills to seek a trade. Top of his wish list is the Patriots, but trades within own divisions rarely happen.
  7. It is Millar's #15 EDIT: Dirt Dogs has a picture of him in a Sox uni. Just hoping to see pitchers in the future having to deal with Ortiz, then look who's up next & there's Manny, standing on the steps of the dugout is Pena (if reaches potential). Thats intimidation http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/Headline_Archives/2006/03/free_swingin_wi.html
  8. checking over my posts... huh it doesnt say that I dont think the Pats will win the division. I just want to know what the Patriots plan is. In Pioli's regime, this is the biggest player that he has let walk into free agency. Someone they couldve franchised for 3 million, I believe? Sorry that tonight hearing about Vinatieri leaving, felt like a sucker punch for me. It is just a business, and Im trying to stay optimistic as I can be. He will truely be missed
  9. Im booing him not because he left, not because he took more money, its because he went to the Yankees. Period. How come its hard for you guys to understand? This comes with the business of the rivalry.
  10. I know full well, and respect what the Patriots team & players have given us. I was just asking, whose our kicker? Who can even come close to what Vinny has done? Sorry for me being way of the Pats getting a kicker who will be in the veins of Giants & Cowboys kickers of last season. And to others on here, Dont question me being a fan. This is the one move thats got me heated
  11. I im in disbelief, anywhere but the Colts (who is our biggest rival, even though not in same division). Honestly who can stick up for the Patriots FO now? Options Vanderjagt (clutch doesnt define him) Edinger (averages 10 missed FGs a season) draft market? unknown free agent kickers? This is the straw that breaks the back of their philosophy of letting players walk and see if they can get the better offer
  12. I just needed to vent, there's nothing wrong with me doing such.
  13. Adam Vinateiri has fired his agent http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/reiss_pieces/
  14. Damon on mlb.com We're the ones who need to get over it? We are all over it, have been for awhiel, we just need to let out our agression to make it complete. Look at yourself, every interview you have is about the damn contract talks with Boston, or this is how the Sox FO does compare to the Yankees. Yea I'm sure you will be able to shrug off the biggest booing reception you have gotten in your career
  15. Hey "26 to 6", here's another player to add to the list who has switched sides of the rivalry. The Sox have added this season: Mike Lowell, J.T. Snow, Wily Mo Pena (all 3 drafted by NY), and Enrique Wilson might get a call-up sometime this season. About his 2 AB performance, decent unofficial debut in a Sox uniform. And hey he even drew a walk
  16. Pavano needs to get it together. The more time he spends on the DL, I just dont see him at all playing out the 4 year deal he had signed
  17. Didnt take Papi that long 2nd AB he cranks a HR Tampa leads 4-1. Wells had allowed 3 runs in the 4th, after allowing 1 run on just 1 hit. Nothing to worry about ----------------- EDIT: Update- Jon Lester got pounded in his 1st inning of relief. 4 runs on 4 Hits (2 Hrs) Mark Loretta at the bottom of the same inning helped cut the deficit by hitting a 2 run HR to make it 8-3. Loretta's 2005 season is behind him I very much believe. He is going to be fun to watch, an immediate fan favorite. Two batters later, Manny belts a HR of his own (2nd) to make it an 8-5 game In the 7th inning, Alex Cora hits a 2 run HR to make it 9-7
  18. Past 5 seasons he has made 100+ errors, overall he has a .969 fielding %. Yuck
  19. Pena at Ft Myers camp He is one imposing figure: http://bostondirtdogs.boston.com/Headline_Archives/2006/03/so_long_bronson_1.html He's basically the same height & weight as Ortiz. Now thats intimidation for an opposing pitcher --------------- EDIT: And what a surprise is included. Johnny "I have to give my thoughts about this Boston deal" Damon gives his point of view of the Sox front office. Again surprisingly, he compares them to the Yankees front office. Im still scratching my head how sports writers are imagining a long standing ovation for Damon at Fenway Park. Even comparing it already to O-Cab's last season, just not seeing it.
  20. Yes lets replace the professional Mark Loretta with selfish Soriano. Say goodbye to the great infield defense then. Soriano in a Red Sox uni. is sure to make me sick.
  21. He's just 24 and he was rushed into the majors before even getting his feet wet in the minor leagues. Lets not forget the team he is coming from, the lowly Cincinatti Reds. He's going to the contending Red Sox now. Ortiz, Manny, and Papa Jack will be his tutors in learning the strike zone. I have no doubt about that. Sorry but Im standing by what I believe. IMO If the Sox werent intent on trading him, they wouldve put it down on his contract. In business (baseball included) there isnt handshaken agreements, or "my word is as solid as oak". You always need something in writing.
  22. I do... Bronson at this point, and forseeable future wouldve been just a middle reliever for Boston. No guaranteed spot in the rotation. He wants to start, and the Reds are going to give him a spot in the top 3 of their rotation. His K's did take a big dip, he was inconsistent throughtout last season. He's 29, and has already peaked in terms of development. They got him for outfielder Wily Mo Pena, a Dominican slugger capable of being a power threat in the heart of the Sox lineup someday. More strike zone patience and he could be the real deal. Its something that Theo couldnt pass up, a risk he was worth doing
  23. Gordon Edes According to WEEI, Juan Gone was scheduled to be in FT Myers yesterday morning. He has since not showed up.
  24. Boston.com Funny stuff Bowden, Theo wouldve been holding back giggles if you actually tried to call him about that --------------- Ortiz on the Sox getting Pena, saying goodvye to Bronson
  25. I think they are thinking about Pena playing 1st more if Lowell bombs out of the gate. Snow himself has been having a good spring. Even if does adequate offense, the Sox can still feel safe with his glove in a late innings lead or tie in a game. As for who will be called up, Tony Masarotti is thinking it could be lefty Lenny diNardo or infielder/outfielder/pinch runner Willie Harris. Harris' contract becomes null if he doesnt make the big league roster by mid to late April.
