  1. Whoa, thanks for the good news. In time he should become more comfortable with the AL than his ERA is right now. Now I dont have to worry about his free agency coming up, which wouldve been after 07 season
  2. i mean to put 3 out of the last 5 they have had shutouts
  3. 3 shutouts in the last 5 games. The Sox last had 1-0 shutouts back to back against Toronto in August of 1990. Great to see our pitching performing like this, but the offense has to step it up as they have been in a slump since the 12 game winning streak. Papelbon has 29 saves, leads the majors. 3 days in a row, he should have the day off EDIT:
  4. Paging Papa Jack... Sox offense is on life support after the All-Star Break
  5. Redman coming into today had 32 Ks in 87 innings. He has already set a season high with 7 Ks in his 6 inning of work against what should be the Red Sox
  6. Don & Jerry, there comes a time where you have to stop praising KC pitching but rather question the Red Sox's current offense
  7. July 6 vs D-Rays He would be at 27 HRs right now, but Melky Cabrera & Milton Bradley took away those 2
  8. Just pitiful of how the Sox offense is lying down for Hudson, Duckworth, and now Mark Redman thus far. Kansas City has the worst starters ERA at 6.12 KC Starters vs Boston through today: 15.1 innings, 4 Runs, 12 Ks
  9. they're just going by the matchup of what kapler has done against redman
  10. He was pretty much dominant in Portland this season with 9 wins and an ERA under 3 believe. His first 2 starts in Triple A he was knocked around, but has rebounded nicely since then
  11. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2006/07/19/wakefield_awaits_test_results/?page=2 The Red Sox are reportedly in trade talks with Colorado to do a swap of Tavarez for lefty Ray King. Tavarez's contract is holding up the talks. Personally Id much rather see them give them Rudy Seanez. Before this, they had a chance when Chicago asked them for Seanez. Boston instead gave them Riske in exchange for Javier Lopez. Still though... Ray King has been struggling this season in the NL
  12. Cleveland- 12 games (0-7, 9.47 ERA) Chicago- 12 games (1-6, 7.09 ERA) Boston- 18 games (3-10, 6.58 ERA) Oakland- 13 games (3-3, 6.58 ERA) Detroit- 7 games (4-3, 5.44 ERA) Seattle- 12 games (2-4, 4.84 ERA) Texas- 17 games (8-2, 4.82 ERA) Anaheim- 12 games (7-2, 4.50 ERA) Toronto- 17 games (7-9, 4.27 ERA) Tampa Bay- 22 games (6-8, 4.31 ERA) Kansas City- 17 games (9-5, 4.21 ERA) Minnesota- 13 games (9-2, 2.62 ERA) Baltimore- Never faced
  13. Suprise Surprise, people are already glorifying Ponson's first start and calling it another great pick up by Cashman (NESN, ESPN, yahoo sports, foxsports) Yeaa sorry but its sad to put high hopes on him being a consistent starter in the AL East during a pennant race
  14. Lester is 5-0, first Red Sox rookie to win first 5 decisions since Aaron Sele in 95 Paps records 28th save, leads major league After going 143 straight games without a shutout, the Sox have had 2 in the last 4 games
  15. Mark Redman tomorrow... dont know what to think if the Sox batters put up close to nill like they have with no-names Hudson, Duckworth
  16. Lester is pure money 8 Starts- He's headed for a record of 5-0, 2.38 ERA, 37 Ks. He just needs to work on his walks which currently stands at 29 in 45.1 innings
  17. Is TheKilo going to make today's thread?
  18. I could think of one team, the same who gave Embree & Bellhorn 2nd chances after both were cut by the Sox
  19. haha they might have more bark, but no bite. Wang has been stellar for them this season and Hughes has been projected to be an ace of any staff. If said is true, Brewers GM I applaud you 1000 times over for swindling this off.
  20. http://us.news1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/rids/20060718/i/r3268268687.jpg A700, wheres the party at? http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playernews.asp?sport=MLB Yes the aptly named Willie "where are going?" Harris has been designated for assignment, Wily Mo Pena rejoins Boston tonight. At least Harris' last appearance in Boston was a good one, capping the comeback rally by just beating a great throw by DeJesus. Javier Lopez has been sent down, Jermaine Van Buren with his 1.48 ERA & 11 saves in Pawtucket comes up to give Boston a fresh arm.
  21. No he's being groomed to be the next 2nd baseman. He is only playing shortstop every third day, because its an insurance policy if god forbid one of the middle infielders get hurt during this season. His range and hands are best suited as a 2nd baseman. Gonzalez & Loretta re both free agents. It would be a tough decision who to sign with Pedroia ready to make the bigs, but AGon's glove makes all the difference in the world.
  22. Gil Meche & Brad Radke as well
  23. Thanks SFOC again for the tickets to last night's game  3rd row behind the visitors dugout, thrilling to say the least. One of the best games Ive been to in awhile and it was facing the freakin' royals Dougie's game tying 3 run HR in the 7th with a 3-2 count was just jaw dropping... literally all of Fenway Park was quiet as we watched in slow motion his ball land into the monster seats. Of course everyone, myself included, just moments before were uttering "wheres Varitek??" haha Game had everything Meatloaf threw out the first pitch Will Ferrell dressed up as Luis Tiant and did his best impression of Luis' pitching motion No ********, got to meet Tony G after the game before he went back into the clubhouse. Just told him thanks for what he did for us last season and he just so happened to sign my ball I brought with me Wake will go on the DL no doubt, by 3rtd inning I could see him gritting his teeth after throwing each pitch. Theo does need to make a move, but I stand firm that Hansen & Pedroia should be locked away and the key thrown away. Papi stealing 2nd base, just missing the throw... this game had everything http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20060718/capt.d492959f346a4e06b427a0feca85ab4a.royals_red_sox_baseball_maea114.jpg
