  1. That would essentiate a trade of the Sox's top prospect
  2. Theres no reason for the Sox to upgrade in center. Coco is set to have a rebound of season most are projecting. Realistically we just need a 1 year stop gap-- Boston's top prospect Jacoby Ellsbury is moving fast up the system and will start off in Triple A with a very good chance of getting a spring training invite. He should be up in the bigs by the end of the season. He's basically like Johnny Damon but his arm is lethal stuff. I saw 1 game up in Portland where he threw out runners 3 times!! If Coco were to have a season like most are expecting, he'll become more valuable in trade talks with a tag on him of just 2 years/$10 million
  3. I think we can begin to rule out possibility of Drew coming to Boston. Pierre got $45 million and Gary Matthews Jr. Obviously Drew is better than both of those players (offense wise) and his agent is Scott Boras. Theo is likely to ease back towards Wily Mo being the right fielder
  4. After over the top signings of Pierre and now Matthews, expect JD Drew's asking price to be $50+ or even $60+ million. That should price himself out of the Sox's range.
  5. Very intriguing, usually Scott Boras holds his clients back from making such comments...
  6. Even Jeter is sideswiped...
  7. Yeah Ortiz tailed off in the 2nd half .292, 23 HRs, 50 RBIs pitiful September as well .299, 7 HRs, 16 RBIs And sorry Ortiz because of you choosing to have game winning hits come in the 1st half instead of September, you cost yourself the MVP. Please... writers have a distate for DH's plain & simple.

  9. Ooh great another season where Abe Alvarez will take up a roster spot (especially on the 40 man roster). Ok FO... this will be what his 4th season in Pawtucket? Give up on this guy already and just release him
  10. um.... Daisuke Matsuzaka anyone?
  11. He is also looking for a long-term contract in the nighborhood of $75-$100 million. The Cubs' gargantuan payday to Soriano upped the market price to get Lee. Also Texas main goal is to start beefing up their pitching staff. They dont have much pitching as it is right now anyway
  12. There will always be someone to replace these Red Sox killers. But ah so glad to see him leave the AL East. Goodbye to facing him 19 times and seeing that smug smile of his
  13. Borowski didnt allow 13 of 14 inherited runners to score. Seanez's rate was disgusting
  14. Certainly wasnt expecting this. Cubs are all out this offseason. With Lee expected to sign with hometown Astros, expect teams to start calling Boston about Manny
  15. sorry Beckett95, didnt see you posted about mike stanton
  16. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2668306 Though this is not a major relief signing, the bullpen market is dwindling
  17. damn it all to hell
  18. Hence why I said he is in line to be with the team full-time by the 2008 season. Of course he's not ready now but he will be starting Triple A this spring and with his natural progression, its hard to see him in Triple A for more than 1 season So Coco would move to right, arent right fielders supposed to have the best arm of the outfield? Also I guess we would see another sub-par season by Coco because they would be asking him to make a switch for the 3rd consecutive season?
  19. I was thinking of a different name when typing this late last night, I meant to say Castillo. It happens...
  20. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2006/11/18/gonzalez_reds_agree_on_a_deal/ The Sox have signed veteran catcher Alberto Concepion, age 35, to a minor league contract with probability of him competing for the backup job.
  21. Nixon wasnt "officially" hurting until mid-season. At that point he was a .300 hitter with no power. Fact of the matter is, who would you rather have protecting Manny's bat... JD Drew or Varitek entering his age 35 season? Coco Crisp playing center field helped him have a poor offensive season? I think it was the injury and not really being able to find a groove when he came back after almost a 2 month layoff As for Drew playing center, it be best for him to stay in right field considering Ellsbury is in line to be up with the club for good by 2008
  22. Id say the Rangers would be more willing to deal Michael Young, who is entering his contract year in 2007 --The Red Sox gain a shortstop in his prime who tallies 200+ hits seasons --The Red Sox lose one of the best hitters ever to wear the Red Sox uniform, and will need to compensate the void to protect Ortiz
  23. The only thing that is comparable between Linebrink and Seanez is that they both have played for the Padres, thats about it
