Oh believe me, Scott Boras will be in hot water with the Japanese league if Matsuzaka isnt signed. If Boras isnt able to work out a deal with Boston for their best pitcher, will top-named players still be vying for his services over there? Typical Boras blockbuster deals always happen at the stroke of midnight of the deadline. The Sox are not going to just walk away from this.
The Chicago Cubs were hot on the tails for JD Drew's services so the Sox knew they had to get something done?
Does anyone not comprehend that this offseason, all contracts are going to be inflated? I guarantee if Damon was a free agent this season... he'd be getting the same type of contract offer. Cmon Carlos Lee is a DH in 2 or 3 years and he signed a 6 year deal with the Astros for $100 million. Gary Matthews Jr had a career year and got 5 years 50 million. Juan Pierre has got speed and thats about, 5 years/$44 million for you. Drew is much better than those last 2 so obviously Boras played the comparison cards.
Obviously now the Sox were not thinking seriously about Wily Mo in right field and felt Drew was the best route. Again he is a major upgrade over Trot so thats a bonus right there
No room for Toby Hall. He's likely to be non-tendered or had in a trade. Barajas could still get a starting job, so look for Hall to be the Sox's top choice to backup Tek
Clement's shoulder is so messed up that he cant pitch for awhile, we have seen the last of him in a Boston uniform. He's nothing but a name in the accounting dept on Yawkey Way
Lester shouldnt be pushed into the spotlight right away. Let him start the season in the minor leagues. He hasnt pitched since August so there will be a big layoff, he also needs to get back into the groove as he recovers through his remission
The Nats have a hole in left field and Bowden really likes Wily Mo. Give him the playing time he deserves, and make a good deal for some young pitching

New York Post, Richie Sexson might be an option play 1st base. A package headed by Melky Cabrera could be possible
Wow, the Sox falter to a 3rd place finish... then in the offseason acquire the likes of JD Drew, Julio Lugo, lefty Hideki Okajima, with Matsuzaka in sight, Eric Gagne close to signing, possible trade for Brendan Donnelly:blink:
Although the contract is higher than I think it shouldve been & the sox lose their 1st round pick... this was a no-brainer for the Sox. A good day for myself being a Sox fan seeing Lugo come on board who should definitely be a big part of the 07 Sox team. Good vibes about a 1-2 of Lugo, Youkilis. Welcome to Red Sox Nation Julio Lugo!!
