  1. There's also threads on Thomas to the Blue Jays, Padres making trade for bullpen help. The thread I made before is pretty much moot now
  2. Again... the Red Sox didnt know in terms of money the "other team" was offering Boras & Damon. Before it was made official, Boras called Lucchino and said "Ok we have a 5 year offer on the table wish is what we're looking for, what do you got"?
  3. Only slightly better than Trot? Take a look again at the last 3 year comparison between Drew & Trot. It weighs much in Drew's favor. And no Im not for having a Trot/Wily Mo platoon for 2 more years
  4. Again, the Sox FO didnt up their offer because Boras made a last-effort call and told them there was a 5 year deal on the table. They didnt know the ammount of money the "other team" was offering. With Damon's health concerns popping up by year 3 or so along with top prospect Jacoby Ellsbury rsiing up the system like a cannon, they couldnt commit to Boras' lie of a counter offer deal
  5. Thanks SFOC for the MNF prize, just got it in my mail
  6. 2 totally different situations... but eh this is coming from a poster who thinks a prospect should be ridden out of town because Pedroia didnt make him happy after his first month in the bigs
  7. http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/sports/16024552.htm The Philadelphia news had in its daily "tidbits", that the Sox are close to signing JD Drew to 4 years/$48 million
  8. So will Josh Beckett
  9. World series contender Tigers to the 4th place Orioles, its all about the money huh Jamie?
  10. It is scary to think about having to face this 3-4-5: Wells, Glaus, Thomas
  11. Well Pudge, according to today's boston herald... Boston has been talking with Houston and Wily Mo's name has popped up. Houston is in need of a center fielder and adding more offense to their team but they would likely require more than him. Hansen, perhaps? The Sox are said to be interested in receiving any of their top 3 relievers: Lidge, Qualls, or Wheeler
  12. As ORS said, that would be a very stupid move on the Red Sox's part. First, it would just be delaying him going to the Yankees for another year. Second, this type of move would damage relations between the Asian market and the Boston front office Also as time ticks by during this 30 day period to talk with Matsuzaka, so will the depth free agent starting pitchers.

  14. And all of that time was a grand total of... 1 month in the majors. Not much too gauge that he's gonna continue to bat Mendoza for the Sox. Also at that point, he had already been through a full season of Triple A
  15. Who would you like to see be the 2007 Sox closer?
  16. A plus about this would be that when looking for a backup catcher they wont have to ask them if they can catch a knuckleball
  17. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/2006/11/this_and_that.html Sox are said to be looking to add another starter along with Matsuzaka, the only plausible of the current 4 Sox starters to go to the bullpen is Wakefield. It couldnt be Papelbon because of the health concerns if he stayed as a closer Theo is set to meet with Adam Eaton who had a 5.12 ERA this past season for Texas and had spent considerable time on the DL.
  18. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/6169006 The Mets are set to finalize 2 year extension with Orlando Hernandez worth $12 million. Little bit pricey for an aging pitcher who has eclipsed 150 innings just once in the last 6 seasons. Look for Vicente Padilla, Gil Meche, Ted Lilly, etc to have contracts worth around $10 million per season
  19. One day where a Sox/Yanks fan bitch fight can not be found or started, is that too much to ask?
  20. Wow ok... again judging Beckett's rest of his career on his first season in the AL is ludicrous. He was able to eclipse 200 innings and not go to the DL at all, improvement? The second half saw him dismantle his homerun woes and he carried himself with a hot streak for the last month of the season. Under your logic, he will have a 5+ ERA each season for the rest of his career Also would Anibal Sanchez have even close to the same type of success in the AL East?
  21. If Wily Mo is traded, you expect the Sox to settle for chump change. Teams like the Rockies & Astros would definitely come calling. I heard on WEEI, Tony Masarotti suggesting Wily Mo could be part of a package to Houston for Brad Lidge. Lets see what happens in the end before assuming right away the sox will be left empty handed
  22. Id have to expect a Wily Mo Pena trade if indeed Drew is signed to a long-term contract. Wily Mo deserves the playing time, even though I wish it is in Boston, some lower revenue teams might give up pitching for him :dunno:
  23. AL Voting 1) Justin Verlander 2) Jonathan Papelbon 3) Franisco Liriano 4) Kenji Johjima 5) Jered Weaver 6) Nick Markakis
