  1. Meaningless stat of the night: the Lebron era Cavaliers are 2-0 in Game 5's on the road. I think the Celtics take game 5, and this series heads 7.
  2. Better pray they don't drop a game at home...
  3. And I'm hoping two of the three are playing elsewhere next year. And the difference between Boston, Los Angeles, and New Orleans is that the Lakers are playing the best home team in the League in the Jazz and the Hornets are playing th Spurs, a team that simply makes better adjustments over the course of a series than any team they play. Both teams a bit better than the Cavaliers and miles ahead of the Hawks. And ORS, great stat but I'm not sure it's completely telling. I'd be interested in seeing how many free throws the opposing team has shot as well.
  4. One player who's in the twilight of his career. and averaging 6, 1, and 1 a game in the postseason... color me unimpressed. The big three are career losers. Not saying they can't win it all, but I think we maye should've expected their road troubles -- though not to this extent.
  5. Kilo nailed it. 50/50 calls -- which there tend to be a lot of throughout a game, go more to the home team. Celtics better learn how to win on the road. You need to have a winning mentality and it's tough to do when nobody on your team has ever won anything.
  6. It was a broken bat blooper just over Lugo's glove.
  7. Hm... ... I'll take it. :dunno:
  8. Dustin mother f***in' Pedroia does it again!
  9. Hells yes! Let's see Youk pull some Joey Votto s*** right here...
  10. Cavaliers have to feel pretty good right now. Tied in the third and Lebron has been very un-Lebron-like from the field.
  11. Aside from both teams being from Boston, how the hell did you connect those dots? When did anyone expect them to choke?
  12. I'm fairly certain it happened in an Avs/Red Wings series back when they were both cup contenders every year. I remember the Red Wings beating the Avs by a score of, like, 7-1 in a game seven. Sharks and Stars tied late in the third. If the Sharks win the game they'd have come back from 3-0 to force a game seven, and I think they've been trailing in each game somewhat late.
  13. Celtics were clearly the better team, but I'd be worried about their issues on the road all of a sudden. Wonder how this series would've played out if KG had been suspended as he should have. Game 5 would've been an awful lot closer.
  14. Ballgame. That must've been one hell of a game to watch!
  15. Iverson wants an extension in Denver. Nuggets have a tough choice... Iverson could fetch a LOT in return since he'sgot a $20 mill contract that comes off the books after next year, or the Nuggets could keep him and take a run at it without George Karl... maybe pickup TJ ford. I tend to think a complete overhaul is in store... keep 'Melo, buildaround him again. Anyone want proof that the NBA is a joke? The fact that KG won't be sitting out any games. I don't care what is going around all this, if you put your arms on an official like this it should be at least a game... http://alt.coxnewsweb.com/cnishared/tools/shared/mediahub/01/60/22/slideshow_522601_fight.jpg Especially if the NBA thinks it was right in suspending Amare last year.
  16. Hawks and Celtics are knotted at two games. I love this.
  17. Not much worse than the Shaq to Phoenix trade. :dunno:
  18. The numbers don't help KG's case. Intangibles count, I guess, but KG is, like, 20th in rebounds, 40th in points, and his assists are down. I defy anyone to name an MVP who's numbers looked like KG's this year. Winning defensive player of the year helps, but I don't see how he really deserved it outside of the Celtics as a team improving defensively.
  19. I think it was Vernon that bloodied Roy in the '97 Brawl, and one of the Red Wings took Roy out on his way to center ice. According to wikipedia, you could see patches of blood on the ice before it was zambodied. The next year the two teams started brawling as the pucked dropped for the opening faceoff. This was the game I remember more specifically, with the two teams totalling 228 minutes worth of penalties. Those games, and that rivalry was insane. Those teams legitimately hated eachother as much as the fans did, it seemed. What was great about it was that they were one of 4 or 5 teams that were in cup contention each year. I need to look into that book.
  20. Avs vs. Red Wings in the playoffs. That's how I like it. Hopefully this series will rekindle what was easily one of the best rivalries in sports. I remember when Denver Radio Station KBPI put up the following billboard in Detroit... http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w124/pagwa_sub/wings_billboard.jpg
