  1. This season is officially ridiculous. Peyton Hillis is out for the season -- which would mean 5 RB's on the IR, plus Selvin Young is still out. The Broncos are promoting some guy from the practice squad to compete with some guy I've never heard of to back up Tatum Bell, who was selling cell phones in one of the nearby malls about a month ago. The injuries are insane. Against the Chiefs, the Broncos started eight rookies -- so I guess the inconsistency and playing down to opponents has something to do with that. I'm just hoping the defense gets healthy by the playoffs.
  2. Texas doesn't have a legitimate argument. Texas Tech beat Texas, yet Texas gets to play in a BCS Bowl Game. That arguments just as legitimate as the Texas/Oklahoma one. It's a three way tie and the head to head argument is completely eliminated because it eliminates all teams -- how can Texas use it?
  3. I feel you. Broncos are in the same boat at LB with Spencer Larsen (who's played offense, defense, and special teams for the Broncos) and Wesley Woodyard (an undrafted rookie), who appears to be ridiculously talented at least.
  4. Broncos can't get a stop on third down... and when they do they get an awful spot from the officials. edit: Down goes Peyton Hillis. Another RB injured... it's getting insane. 4 RB's on the IR, Selvin Young still out, and now Hillis is hurt.
  5. What a massacre that was.
  6. They should. Even if Oklahoma settles for a FG on this opening drive, it's hard to imagine Missouri stopping Oklahoma in this game... Holy s***... he almost hit the crossbar on a 19 yard kick.
  7. Thanks, John Madden. Florida's going to put it away here. Keep it in Tebow's hands. HUUUUGE penalty on the Florida coaching staff unless they get it in the endzone. And they did.
  8. Glad I was wrong and this turned out to be a great game so far.
  9. Disastrous play by Arenas on that kickoff. Meyer should've manned up and went for it on fourth, though... I'd take my chances with two yards to gain and Tebow at QB.
  10. Yeah, and boy do I miss Zaxby's. That's some good god damn chicken. Julio Jones is amazing.
  11. They can. The only team I think they can't beat is Pittsburgh -- that's not to say I think they would beat any other team they may play, but they're capable. They have this bad habit of playing down to their opponents -- KC and Oakland for example. They'll get their two best defensive players, Champ Bailey and DJ Williams, back by the playoffs -- and they'll get Selvin Young back (don't forget, their starting RB right now is a rookie Fullback). They handed Atlanta their only home loss, they just destroyed the Jets on the road. They got the gift win against San Diego, but they also got screwed against the Dolphins. If they can hang onto the football, they can beat anybody.
  12. Because it's the ACC Championship game. They couldn't sell out the ACC Championship game when it was in Jacksonville and Florida State was playing in 2005.
  13. http://img383.imageshack.us/img383/8871/8a1d054ecb85467fbca19a8ba4.jpg That camo is badass. Florida will beat Alabama by 14+.
  14. Or... the Patriots miss the playoffs, and the Giants lose in the Super Bowl to the Broncos. And when it becomes apparent that Brady isn't the same player he used to be, Belichick resorts back to cheating (assuming he ever stopped cheating, entirely), gets caught again, and Goodell kicks him out of the league, which makes everybody look at the Patriots dynasty in the same light they look at Barry Bonds' homerun record.
  15. It's cute that the Stars are acting like they didn't know what they were getting when they signed Sean Avery. He was a terrible signing for the Stars, he's been a disruption in that lockerroom, and they see this as a way out. They knew exactly what they were getting -- they wanted him for that exact reason -- now it's not panning out the way they had planned and they've found their way out. That's all that is. It's not offensive to women, it's offensive to those particular women -- I don't see any feminist groups coming out in droves to condemn him or his comments. I might be wrong on that one, though -- a quick google search showed barely even a mentioning on a feminist website. And Rician, that doesn't excuse cheating in sports -- I don't see many people throwing that excuse out there for Bonds. As for Avery, give me an example where he crossed the line verbally and then ducked a fight. He said this before the game, knowing full well the consequences I'm sure -- his not playing was hardly his choice. And if NHL players do respect Bertuzzi more than Avery, then the 'culture of hockey' is f***ed up. Since guys like Modano are so disgusted by them, why don't they do something about it as opposed to, I don't know, bad mouthing him through the media?
  16. Rodney Harrison cheated. Took performance enhancing drugs, which goes against the integrity of the game -- that goes against the most important "code" of any sport -- verbal jabs don't, especially when the accusations never make it past the stage of being accusations. As for the second part, that's the problem. What's Sean Avery ever done outside of hurt a few feelings, maybe? He's never blatantly cheapshotted anybody with the intent to cause injury, he used words. Words. I was the one who brought up Todd Bertuzzi. Steve Moore hit Marcus Naslund on a legal hit as ruled by the NHL. In between that game, and the game in which Todd Bertuzzi cheapshotted Moore in Vancouver, the two teams played one another in Denver in which the only incident was a fight between Moore and Brad May. Then when they played in Vancouver, it was a hit from behind, completely out of the play, and a man was paralyzed -- career finished. Not only did he do the cheapshot that ended Moore's career, he wasn't man enough to do it in Denver. And you think he's more respectable than Sean Avery? He said he was wrong and apologized, how else can he own up to it? Boo hoo... these are grown f***ing men -- they can't take verbal jabs? Complete overreaction from the League. I think it's so odd that Avery's the guy people choose to focus their hatred on -- especially when they cheer for guys like Rodney Harrison.
  17. - Allegedly. - That's not even bad. These are grown men. - Again, allegedly. According to an anonymous player. - Again, not even that bad. Probably crossed the line, but that's hardly detrimental to the league. Harrison's only been caught using HGH and is considered one of the dirtiest players in the NFL (as in physical cheap shots -- sticks and stones). But you're right, saying negative things about somebody is far worse. I mention Harrison because it's funny how some of you guys paint Sean Avery to be this terrible person yet still love Rodney Harrison, who does worse things.
  18. How is he any worse than, say, Rodney Harrison? Who's annually voted the NFL's dirtiest player by his peers (and NFL coaches).
  19. His comment wasn't even that bad. And I doubt his only motivation was just to get a little bit of attention -- he did it with the intent of getting inside Phaneuf's head, and it would've worked because Phaneuf probably would've tried to kill him. Save your ire for someone who deserves it, like Bertuzzi.
  20. Nuggets went off on Toronto tonight. 132-93. Not bad.
  21. Sean Avery's my favorite player. I can respect a man who is that hated.
