  1. 14.40 ERA? If you're going to do steroids... avoid those ones.
  2. I'm not... since, I think, the Tigers GM was the Marlins GM when Leyland won the World Series... I figured that Leyland is the reason they fired Trammel.
  3. I think Mike Tice is an awful coach. His entire offense was based off of streak routes to Moss. And Dante Culpepper has always been one to fumble. I believe he shares a hold of the record for most fumbles in a single season.
  4. No... but Dolphin's acting as though you've got the series won. Contreras is the only pitcher of yours that scares me... Clement is the only pitcher of ours that I don't like having on the mound... If I was forced to put money on the game, I'd have put it on the White Sox.
  5. Congratulations... it's the first game. Not sure if you remember, but we've come back from situations a wee bit more difficult than 1-0.
  6. I say this with the World Series victory far from my mind right now, as it should be... Fire Francona. He should've been prepared to pull Clement early if he needed to... 8 runs later is NOT early. f***ing A'.
  7. Yeah, guys... 4 runs is nothing for our offense to overcome. But with the way it seems that Clement has been... it probably won't be at 4 runs for long.
  8. I just now got out of class and started watching the game... the first two strikes looked like pretty favorable calls for Contreras... has it been like this the entire game? YES MILLAR!!!!! We got a game, baby! I may be good luck!
  9. Good luck to you and your team as well. Should be a fun series. I'm going to go out on a limb and guarentee that the Sox win. Yep... I did just guarentee it.
  10. Yeah, that's true... I wouldn't say it got any worse as the Bills and Jets aren't going to be as good as previously thought. Miami's a little better, but they're not any sort of threat. And the rest are about as good as expected. The only other one is Denver -- but I thought they'd be a 10 win team, anyway, all the so-called 'experts' thought they'd hover around or below .500. I think you need to beat Atlanta, or you're going into the bye week 2-4. I say Denver will beat you because their defense (Held the always solid KC offense to 10) is very underrated and you guys are kind of poor against the run (10th worst). Once Denver develops the run and Jake Plummer can boot and throw on the run -- they're very tough to stop. Put up 20 on a very good Jacksonville defense. 10-6 is a ballsy pick. If not careful, you could have 6 losses by week 13, with that schedule. You won't, but you could.
  11. Score a lot of runs and it's a sweep for the Angels. See? I can do that too. Saying it is one thing... doing it is another.
  12. And like the article says... does he somehow hurt his team defensively? If defense was so important, Rodriguez would already be atleast a 3 time winner and Giambi wouldn't have one.
  13. I wouldn't say that... there are teams with worse schedules... the Chargers being one of them, or were going into the season. Actually, both teams' divisions as a whole seem to have the toughest schedule. I saw a projected strength of schedule before the season, and AFC West and AFC East teams made up the top eight. It's no coincidence that this is the year the two divisions play eachother.
  14. Firstly, of course you don't notice a difference -- you're a Yankees fan. I've heard the difference in size noted on many national sports radio programs. Secondly, You're an idiot. How the f*** did you not spend your childhood drooling all over the windows of the short bus? I don't say it's impossible to gain muscle during the season because it can't be done over a 6 month span. If I did -- then you'd be right, it is possible... but I didn't -- so you're wrong, and it's not possible. I'm sure game day workouts are much different and much lighter than the ones you did over the span of those 6 months. I know they were when I played sports in High School, no matter what sport I played. In fact, I worked out at probably no more 25% of the effort I normally would. I'm not just making this stuff up -- I've heard roundtable discussions on the issue where team trainers and past players say it's impossible to gain muscle during the season. Why would they say this if it's not true? Again, guys, I'm not accusing Giambi of using steroids.
  15. Yet, how many did he have in a big spot? I'm sorry... 1 run shots with a 4 run lead don't scream 'valuable' to me.
  16. And he does it when his team needs it most. That's not only invaluable, but it's a quality that A-Rod doesn't bring to the table, and the difference between the Red Sox being in the playoffs or not.
  17. You have $25 million to find a replacement. Value is a word with multiple meanings -- one of them has to do with currency.
  18. I don't know about 10-6 even. The Patriots simply aren't as good as they've been in years past. All of their next 4 games are very losable, especially at Atlanta, at Denver, and hosting Indianapolis. I think they'll be, at best, 2-2 in these next 4 games.
  19. Quit trying to use that as your safety blanket so you don't look like the hypocritical idiot that you are. Giambi has admitted to using them in the past -- he sucked, and then suddenly got better... he had an unprecedented improvement. In the past year, he's regained his size which is IMPOSSIBLE TO DO DURING THE SEASON (Get that through your thick skulls, Yankees fans). He also tripled his season long HR total following, I think, 3 months, in the span of one month. Though, I'm not trying to accuse Giambi.
  20. You do understand that Sheffield admitted to taking the Cream, which is HGH, right?
  21. Learn the meaning of the word 'contradict'... and then get back to me.
  22. Does it count any more in the standings than all the game's in which Big Papi has had a walkoff hit for the Red Sox? A HR, to make it 7-2 or whatever the score was at that point, means nothing when you win the 8-4.
  23. I do think Sheffield's at bat goes in a similar fashion. Sheffield fouled off pitch after pitch... Wake then went to his fastball. I think he would've done that regardless. I can give A-Rod credit... but you act as though this sealed the deal. A-Rod is the anti-clutch. He didn't win the game for his team today like David Ortiz has done constantly. Big Papi has practically carried the Red Sox on his back of late.
  24. 6 walks. Why is it that everytime a Yankees pitcher gives up walks, he 'got squeezed'? In that case, David Wells got squeezed to... because we know he doesn't walk anyone. The Red Sox base running really helped Wang out, too.
  25. You're kidding, right? Sheffield's performance depends on A-Rod, all of a sudden? If the MVP was decided based on who was the best in this game... give it to Manny or Sheffield. This game didn't count for more in the standings than any other game.
