I'm not watching the game. What about him? -
I'm not worried about Beckett. He is as good in any game as anyone else in the game, he's just not as consistent. He's still damn good though. Schilling's stuff isn't as good as Beckett's at this point in his career, but his control is top notch as it almost always has been. Anyway, a 3rd pitcher is essential. I think the Twins are going to give it a good run and the Sox need to win the East.

They have a good defense, which is big in the playoffs. They also have patient and mature hitters (youk is years ahead of his time). They have a decent bullpen (I think its better than it has been over the past 3 years or more) and 2 studs on the mound, with a 3rd who has pitched very well. The way I feel about this team is that if Lester is the #4 pitcher in the playoffs, the Sox could have a very good shot. If he is pushed into the #3 in the playoffs (by injuries or his good performance) then I think they're in trouble.

If available, a very good 3rd pitcher seems necessary to win in the playoffs and down the stretch. They won't give up the farm unless it is EXACTLY what they are looking for, I have confidence in that. Remember, this was supposed to be a retooling year and while of course I want them to go for it now, I don't want them trading good players for Cory Lidle and I don't think the FO will do such a thing. Dontrelle Willis, Cabrera? Yes, trade WMP and a prospect.

Not to sound like an ******* but, perhaps one of the reasons they wouldn't mind acquiring him for arroyo was because he's a good trading piece? Isn't that the only possible answer other than "because they like to trade for really s***** players."

There are very few players whom I would be willing to part with our top minor league talent for. Miguel Cabrera is one of them. ANYTHING we could do to get him would be fine with me. That said, this is purely speculation. However, when other teams say the Red Sox are being active, I believe them. The sox finally have their s*** together it seems, as all the leaks are coming from other sources, not someone close to the sox front office. Thank you larrry luchino for hushing up!

Okay, I have to admit that I am one of those tools that has a lot of Red sox on one of my fantasy baseball teams. The last few nights have been very pleasant: Varitek, Manny, Ortiz, Loretta, Coco, thank you all very much.
