  1. No, I don't, but it makes me wonder if he could possibly be ready to start next season: Schilling Beckett Matsuzaka Lester Buchholz I don't know where Wake goes. Perhaps if they win it all he retires??? :dunno: (knocking firmly on my 'wooden'--composite--coffee table). I also don't care too much. If Buchholz is as good as he sounded in the TB spring training game, and as good as he's been recently we're talking about Phil Hughes caliber here.
  2. I don't know what you're trying to say, but I think we agree: Lester pitches before Buchholz?
  3. Look at all the defensive statistics you want, there is NO WAY that WMP is a better OF (CF or otherwise) than Coco. None. When confronted with this evidence one could take the stats as they are, or say the methods of evaluating fielding are faulty. In this case I choose the later. Fielding stats are notoriously hard to figure out, and the WMP > Coco in CF (or anywhere) is decieving. He just isn't very good in the field.
  4. It seems that peole around here spend more time ripping on one another than anything else. Those of us who have been watching this team and this game for awhile know how long the season is and how far from a sure thing this team is. That said, I"ve been one of this team's biggest advocates since spring training. I've been optimistic that they are a very good team, and that, in fact, they were a very good team last year that got injured. That gets lost in all of this. They had the 2nd best record last year into July when they played the Mets in the Fens. The reason I'm optimistic is because I completely agree with the philosophy of the FO in nearly all areas: get guys who don't swing at bad pitches, get guys who are cheaper than their value should dictate, be willing to pay more for guys who fulfill multiple BIG team needs. This team has a great combination of veterans and young but mature players.
  5. At least you didn't say this Jacksonian: http://www.talksox.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8493&page=6 Even early in the season I would say this is one of the silliest things I've read. It was silly at the time and even moreso now.
  6. .408 on the season between AA and AAA. .280 in AAA after going 1 for 5 with a walk today.
  7. Yeah, except that Hansen was nearly unhittable during his first stints with the Sox farm system, whereas Bard has been unable to find the strike zone.
  8. Ellsbury 2/4, RBI, 2 SB, 1 CS (apparently he stole second and tried to steal 3rd). This guy is crazy fast.
  9. I guess that eliminates the possibility that Stevece and ORS are the same person. They're both pretty sharp! Good table ORS.
  10. Bah. He's not worth it. He can't even be bothered to be in shape here in May, needing a few more weeks to get ready. He KNEW there would be 3 teams offering 15+ million for his services this season, but he isn't ready now. Why do the Red Sox owe Clemens anything at this point? They made a legitimate run at him but Clemens wanted to play in NYY with Pettitte. Screw it. It wasn't going to happen and we're not going to second guess the sox for kicking the pants off of NYY's offer for Matsuzaka but not matching in on Clemens. If they had Matsuzaka they wouldn't NEED Clemens... No big deal, other than it will make it more fun to watch Clemens get knocked around by Manny and Ortiz and Co.
  11. 37 K in 33 IP this season. He's had 9 K's in 2 of his 7 starts.
  12. What bullpen? They are a f***ing joke. Add 18m (4.5m/month x 4 months) to the 195m payroll for a cool 213m. I'm pretty sure one could put together a better team for this amount of money than what the Yankees have. I would be embarassed if I were a Yankee fan, first because this team has no pitching, and second because their payroll is so much greater than everyone elses (1.5 times the Sox payroll at this point).
  13. So what? Clemens is the 'ace' now? This is a guy who is 45 years old who couldn't be bothered to be ready to pitch by MAY. Now you're going to pay him more than Alex Rodriguez to come and save the staff? Yeah, how has that overpaying for *******s worked out in the past? Good luck with that one. I'll keep Daisuke, Beckett and Schilling, thanks. The last time the Sox saw Clemens he was walking off the mound in the 2003 ALCS game 7, down by 4 runs with 2 on and nobody out looking old and tired. Then he played in the offensively innept NL Central and you all expect him to come back and carry your team to the next level? Ha!
  14. Yawn. Move the kid to Portland.
  15. Then your name is a misnomer. The sox will save the money and get Andruw Jones next year, or Ichiro, or someone who isn't on HGH and 44 years old.
  16. Also, FWIW, the Red Sox have more stolen bases than the Yankees this season (18 vs 17). THAT is shocking.
  17. Let's hope it has nothing to do with a shoulder problem.
  18. HUGE win for the Sox. Ugly weather, ugly start by Daisuke, they battled and battled and were the superior team. Thanks Manny, that's what your check is good for.
  19. I live in Portland, Oregon. EDIT: Which, depending on your geographic knowledge, either answers the question or it doesn't.
  20. Truth be told, nobody must be enjoying this 9th. DP ball here JC.
  21. Top 9, no Papelbon huh? Taking another day off.
