  2. Nice to see Porcello come up big after the offense let Price down yesterday. Four game losing streaks suck, but that was the longest of the season and that's not too shabby compared to the awful streaks of the last two years. The offense and pitching aren't always going to click on the same days, but in the end the Sox are still very much in the hunt for the division lead and that's enough for me right now.
  3. Just got home from work. All I have to say is that Jett Bandy sounds like a Star Wars character. A s***** prequel Star Wars character.
  4. For the record, a double play is not what I meant.
  5. Time for Ortiz to end this game.
  6. Wright vs. Pelfrey Just win.
  7. I think I'd take 2013 Napoli over 2016 Ramirez. I'd take 2016 Ramirez over 2016 Napoli, though.
  8. Probably because most teams will pitch around or walk Ortiz once he's already hit two. No one wants to f*** with that.
  9. He just said that the "injury could have happened on any pitch he threw regardless of how often he was used". He is literally saying the opposite of what you just said. All he was saying was, correctly, that this is an unusual and freak injury and not something we should all automatically blame on overuse or bad management.
  10. On TalkSox?! The hell you say.
  11. I appreciate the thought, but I'm going to have to ban you for getting that song stuck in my head for, almost certainly, the rest of the goddamned week.
  12. Chris Correa, the guy who illegally accessed the Astros computers was sentenced today to four years in prison. Given how things like this usually work, I expect him to not actually see any time behind bars. However, some articles I have read about the incident have been speculating as to whether or not the Cardinals organization will be punished in any way by MLB. Four years might seem harsh for a non-violent crime, but given the potential harm inflicted on the finances and livelihoods of any number of employees of the Astros, including the non-wealthy ones (the administrative assistants, clerical staff, cubicle-dwellers, et cetera) that an electronic security breach represents, I'd say he got off easy. I think it will be very interesting to see how MLB handles their investigation, which they intend to conduct now that the legal investigation has been resolved.
  13. Didn't he have blister problems near the end of his time in Boston too?
  14. I hate how they always seem to teeter on the brink of respectability over the last few years, no matter how much they suck. If any other team in baseball had the same players and played the same games, they'd be 15 games under .500 right now. I'd really like to see a solid few years of mid-to-late-eighties Yankees.
  15. If this guy is the "best pitching prospect the Sox have had in a long, long time" as some people in this thread have said, (and I'm not convinced of that, it's hard to be sure how a guy is going to do in the majors no matter what he does in the minors) wouldn't DD know that as well? And knowing that, wouldn't the fact that he traded him for a starter who might not be "as good" as this guy might be in the future indicate that maybe DD knows something we don't? Maybe there are issues we aren't aware of. Maybe he's having physical trouble that indicates his career might not be all that long. Maybe off the field he's a psychotic. Granted, that seems unlikely, but in the end we got a guy who is doing well in the major leagues NOW, which we need, and in return gave up a guy who only MIGHT be a good starting pitcher years from now. I'm happy.
  16. I didn't even know this thread was here, I haven't been in the GT forum since the end of the Rays series. This forum section is for Red Sox games only. Yankees GTs (as if!) would go in the Yankees subforum and other team's GTs and ASG GTs go in General Baseball. Merged.
  17. I have been a member of this site for eleven years and a moderator for ten, and in all that time I cannot remember anyone being so petulant about a simple request from any of the moderators. Given some of the people we have had on this site in the past, that's quite an accomplishment on your part. Give it a rest already.
  18. Okay Maxbialystock has lost his GT-starting privileges as well. Seriously guys, let's not mess with GT mojo too much in one season, okay?
  19. Oh yeah, Aaron Hill still exists. Hmm.
  20. You go to a kid who grew up in Cuba or the slums of the Dominican Republic and try to take money back from him. I'm sure as hell not volunteering for that job.
  21. Can someone explain to me in non-financially-technical language exactly what the Red Sox did wrong? I know little to nothing about the financial side of baseball so I'm curious as to how annoyed I should be with my favorite team in this instance.
  22. 5 earned runs still couldn't push Wright's ERA to 3. I love this guy.
