    I'd rather the Orioles win. I want to face them in the ALCS. I don't have any problems with the Jays, and I think the Sox have an equal chance of beating either team. I want it to be the O's so the Sox can destroy them and make Buck Showalter cry like a baby. I hate that goddamn douche.

    The real reason the Sox let themselves be swept by the Yankees is that they really wanted me to be correct in my prediction. 92 wins with three games left to play.

    I have to say, that standing ovation from the YS crowd was pretty f***ing weak, especially compared to the one Fenway gave to Jeter. I guess part of it has to do with the fact that the stadium was half-empty.

    Also, I would swear that someone, sometime in the recent past, mentioned that starting entirely new threads with no purpose but to complain about specific players without actually introducing a topic for discussion was something to be discouraged. I must be remembering incorrectly.

    Yeah, every time you think they're a good team, they start to suck. That's why they're never going to make it into the playoffs. I mean, maybe they make the WC game, but it'll be one and done. I wouldn't be surprised if the entire team collapses onto the field in the middle of the game and then disintegrates into a fine crystalline powder and is carried away on the wind. This team is hopeless. Seriously, do you even realize how ridiculous you sound right now? The Sox just clinched the division after two years of non-competitiveness and all you can do is point at a blown save by a guy who has only blown two other saves this season and the loss of a couple games with nothing but the "meh"-tastic goal of homefield advantage on the line as a reason to basically give up on the team?

    Let's not all blow this out of proportion. Kimbrel hasn't lost in almost a month and hasn't blown a save since May 28th. Everyone has a couple bad appearances a season, and he has had many, many solid appearances this year. It sucks that one of his bad ones was against the Yankees, but in the end, this game had little meaning now that the Sox have clinched. A brief scan of his BR page will tell you all you need to know: He has helped the Red Sox in far more of his appearances than he has hurt them. Far, far more. And that's basically what you need from a bullpen guy. Anyone holding out for season-long ERAs of 0.00 and 100% converted save opportunities is going to be disappointed. If this meltdown had happened in the middle of May, far less people would probably be acting like this was the end of the Sox's chances for ever winning a game ever again. Just relax. Besides, we are all ignoring the real issue here. The blame for tonight rests on the shoulders of UN? for starting the Gamethread, obviously.

    I just want them to lose out the rest of the way. I think they're pretty much done with playoff hopes, but I would prefer for them to finish at or under .500.

    As much as I hate the Rays, I do feel bad for them. They've been awful this year, but since 2008 they've at least been in the thick of things for the most part, if not outright contending, and they still can't bring any more people to the stadium then when they were wearing holographic purple uniforms and getting shellacked by the Red Sox and Yankees for 17 out of 19 games every season.

    Pedro said today that Fernandez had the potential to be better than he himself was. Just because Jacko said it doesn't make it untrue, and it's not an insult to a guy of Pedro's accomplishments to suggest that someday someone might eclipse them. Calm down.

    Haha just got home from work and watched the video of Dustin's slide. What the f*** was that? That was the most hilarious thing I've seen all year, and that includes every shot of Showalter from the dugout earlier this week.

    There are a lot of words there that have no translation in Klingon. Oddly, the people who developed the language never came up with Klingon words for "TalkSox"!

    Why can't you just be happy they won? You had five paragraphs on why this was awesome but you had to add a part where you disparaged everyone else's fandom. Why? It's a Saturday night. Lots of people do other things on Saturday night. I worked tonight from 5 to 11, and as a waiter I don't have lots of free time to log online and post comments on TalkSox. Other people have things to do. It's a busy time of year. Instead of judging people for not showing up, how about just focusing on how great the Sox are right now?
