  1. I'm down if money is optional.
  2. i had no idea gom had been reinstated. nice! welcome back man
  3. Four Dominican Summer League prospects have been suspended for the first 50 games of the season after failing drug tests. Two of the players were Yankees; pitcher Israel Tolentino and catcher Josue Rodriguez. The other 2 are Mets pitcher Melvin Colon and Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Lebron. http://sports.espn.go.com/minorlbb/news/story?id=4984278 It's not much of a story, but being that Yankee players are involved I thought I would share. It seems like the majority of the suspensions that are handed out for PED's are to players out of the DSL. I know the excuse in the past is that they either didn't know what they were taking, or that they didn't know the ingredients, listed in spanish on the packaging, were banned under the drug policy. But I don't think that's the case here being that they tested positive for boldenone and stanozolol. Either way, the problem seems to be more prevalent among the young Dominican players, and they need to find a way to fix that.
  4. I think it's so stupid to do a realignment based on financial factors. It might seem typical for me to say that as a Yankee fan, but I genuinely think divisions should be based on geographical location. I've come up with tons of realignment ideas over the years, some better than others, but all of them would be better than these ideas we've heard lately, both from Rosenthal as well as this article.
  5. It may be another meaningless bowl game, but I think it's pretty cool. I never had the chance to see football, or any other sport for that matter, at the old stadium. So with the boxing match in June and the college football games scheduled to be played at the Stadium, I'm looking forward to it. Here's the logo for the bowl game... http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Fsh7GWfK4f0/S5bzfkdT5pI/AAAAAAAAKAo/NHxuCdMX50A/s1600/NewEraPinstripeBowl.jpg
  6. He actually played 31 games at short for the Dodgers in 2008. 29 of those games he started at shortstop. Either way, it's sad to see such a great player's career come to an end after taking the unfortunate turns it has over the years. Great move by both parties to bring him back to the Sox for his retirement though. I still think he has something left in the tank though, but I'm sure his contributions at ESPN will be great.
  7. A press conference was held this morning at Yankee Stadium to officially announce the agreement between the Big East, Big 12, the Yankees, ESPN, and New Era to hold the first bowl game at the new Yankee Stadium on December 30th. An initial agreement was announced a while ago, as well as agreements to host several other college football games (including Army and Notre Dame on November 20th), but an official announcement was pending a sponsor and an official name. Now that New Era has signed on and ESPN has agreed to televise the game, the 4-year agreement has been inked for the 3rd seed in the Big East and the 6th seed in the Big 12 to square off at the big ballpark in the Bronx.
  8. Nick Johnson already scratched from today's game with a stiff lower back. Let's hope this isn't the start of a trend.
  9. I agree about Logan, but I'm gonna be keeping an eye on Royce Ring. If he can ever get his command together he can be pretty nasty. He's got the stuff, you just never know where it's gonna go.
  10. They'll probably give him the chance to improve defensively behind the plate, but if not he'll most likely be DH/1B/LF type. With his bat, they'll surely find a spot for him.
  11. Best of luck to him. He'll be great to watch at ESPN. He did some work at MLB Network during the postseason and a little bit at ESPN earlier in the offseason. I think he even called some games on the radio during the postseason, but I could be wrong. What I've seen of him though has been great. I'm sure he'll thrive in his new profession.
  12. The ageless wonder, Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez is looking to make yet another return to the Major Leagues. http://twitter.com/TBrownYahoo/status/9488450285 He pitched in AAA Oklahoma City for the Rangers for about a month and a half last season, pitching 11 innings in relief with a 2.45 ERA and a 0.727 whip. He also pitched for the Bravos de Margarita in the Venezuelan winter league this year, pitching in 7 games (6 starts, 33 IP) with a 3.27 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. Awesome, I love this guy I hope someone gives him a shot. I' love to see him pitching again.
  13. I believe it's a Major League deal as well, which I don't like, especially for that money. But if he's as good out of the pen for us as he was last year then it could be a good deal, as long as he's consistent.
  14. Yeah but Damon still got $8mil, which i more than I think anyone thought he was going to get. How his value is affected for next year is still to be seen, but I think on the 1 year he got good money.
  15. It's not really relevant to anything, but I just wanted to share this pic of Matsui G-ing at Angels camp http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_Fsh7GWfK4f0/S4ADb5Qm1ZI/AAAAAAAAJww/ibgYJdH71Bc/s1600/r1496549578.jpg Maybe SoCal will bring out the flashier side of the humble, dignified Matsui.
  16. Na I'm not in Florida, I wish though. But yeah, for some reason uniforms, logos, and uniform numbers just intrigue the s*** out of me. I think especially since the Yanks don't wear names, the number is the the main source of identification for a player. Idk....just interesting I guess.
  17. Exactly. On a minor league deal I'm all for it, but not guaranteed.
  18. T-Mac!!!!!! Still trying to find out whats goin on with this Nate deal though, is this going down or what?
  19. Shaun White just KILLED THAT s***!!!!!!!
  20. Now for anyone who cares about uniform numbers, like I do for some strange reason, there's some updates out of Yankee camp. Randy Winn takes 22, recently vacated by Nady. Thames takes 38, which was worn by Bruney until the end of the season when Kennedy scooped it up after Bruney switched to 99, and Javy takes 31, previously worn by Mike Dunn. Obviously he couldn't wear 33 as he did in 2004, as Swisher currently occupies that number. Nick Johnson is wearing 27 (Yankees.com has him falsely listed as 26. His old 36 is belongs to Edwar Ramirez...I'm sure he could have wrestled it away if he really wanted it) and Kei Igawa, who has historically worn 29 throughout his career in Japan and both in the Majors and Minors, ends up with 17 (falsely listed as #27 on yankees.com), as Cervelli's obviously got 29. Boone Logan takes Phil Coke's 48, Jamie Hoffman has been given number 73, Greg Golson got 61, and Juan Miranda moved down a bit from 72 to Melky's #53. Royce Ring got 47, and Mike Rivers got the surprisingly low #12. David Winfree and Jon Weber got 78 and 79, respectively.
  21. That's what I'm trying to figure out! lol
  22. Whatever you say. I guess everyone forgot how good he was when healthy pitching in the AL EAST. Yeah he's recovering from injury, but like Dojji said, he's not your typical, over-the-hill scrap heap reject. He's still relatively young and when healthhy has tremendous upside. Oh well though. Your bias might make you disagree, but I think this is a low risk/VERY high reward signing for the Nats, and I think any smart team would have at least entertained the idea. If he can return to form, pitching in the NL, particularly the east, he could be great....so long as he doesn't break his foot on the bases again.
