  1. For sure!
  2. Rosenthal just reported that the third prospect will likely be Zach McAllister. So if everything stands as is, the trade should look like this... Yankees get: LHP Cliff Lee Mariners get: C Jesus Montero 2B/3B David Adams RHP Zach McAllister
  3. Agreed. I think the M's will want to stick with him behind the plate, but that might not be the best option in the long run.
  4. LOL....look, the Yankees have done a great job in recent years of developing players throughout the system. With the emergence of Cervelli as a viable major league catcher, and the depth behind the plate in the minors, the Yanks can afford to make this move without mortgaging their future. You can't expect them to keep ALL of their young catchers. As for the Yankees having resources that the Red Sox can't match, I think that's a joke. The Red Sox are in a better position than any other team to match the Yankees spending. They choose not to that way they can cry foul when the Yanks go out and make these moves. They'd rather have everyone's sympathies over the fact that the "evil empire" strikes again, rather than go out and strike back. It gets so old hearing people complain about the Yankees spending habits, especially when it's Red Sox fans who are doing the complaining. The Yankees have an undeniable advantage over every other team in the league, but the extent of that advantage varies from team to team. The Yankees advantage over the Cleveland Guardians, for example, is much greater than their advantage over the Red Sox. It just makes me sick when Red Sox people, be it in the organization, the media, or the fans themselves complain that they can't keep up with the Yankees because the Sox are one of the most profitable sports franchises in the world. The Yankees impending acquisition of Lee really can't be attributed to a financial advantage, but rather the fact that the Yankees were in the position to offer the best return (on the field) to the M's. Plain and simple. We still don't know who the third prospect is, but I know that nobody could have offered them a bat like Montero's at the catcher position, where the M's are extremely thin. That's what it comes down to, not financial resources.
  5. Have you been living under a rock all morning? Turn on ESPN or something, the deal is "just about done."
  6. While you can never complain when you're getting a lefty ace like Cliff Lee, I don't think the Yanks should pull the trigger unless Tampa is hot on his trails as well. The rotation is for the most part a strength right now, and it would make more sense to wait until the offseason and simply give up draft picks rather than our number 1 prospect. Now if it means keeping him from Tampa or Boston or another competitor, then you have to jump in and do what you gotta do, but I just think in the long run, despite his troubles at AAA this year, the Yanks will regret trading Montero. ESPECIALLY if for some reason we can't re-sign Lee after this season.
  7. What's it gonna take to get Choo back?
  8. Lets do it....
  9. btw I'm never trading with you again lol. After that trade, every player involved did a complete 180 degree turn. I want Wright back!
  10. I'm losing the total bases category right now by 8. Zimmerman had 10 yesterday when I had him on the bench. If my guys can't somehow come back and at least win TB's I'm gonna shoot myself. From now on anytime a player is in a slump and wants to break out of it, all they need is for me to bench them in fantasy and the problem is solved. Between both of my teams, I think my benches have had better seasons than my lineups (and I'm in first place in my other league)
  11. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5361001 ...including 2 Yankee farmhands, Daury Aquino and Alexander de los Santos
  12. I can't freaking believe I benched Ryan Zimmerman tonight and he went off!
  13. Haha really bro? I didn't hear Varitek say s*** to Ortiz either when his name was revealed. You're closer acts like a fool during every appearance, either by blowing it or dancing around like an idiot, making himself look "bush" in the meantime. And are you really going to bitch about mound-meetings? Seriously dude? Take the pacifier out of your mouth and grow up.
  14. ? How can you say my opinion is false. My statement wasn't based on Papelbon's ability, but rather my genuine dislike for him. One of my favorite Yankee Stadium moments will always be booing him and cheering "Mar-i-ano!" from the time he came in from the bullpen until he was taken out of the '08 All Star Game. I'm not debating his quality as a pitcher, but Papelbon in pinstripes would make me sick. Hopefully he does leave Boston though and ends up somewhere in the NL.
  15. I wouldn't want Papelbum anyway.... I'd throw an 85 year old Rivera out there before a Papelbon in his prime every time lol.
  16. I don't like her too much, but whatever works sounds good to me lol. http://yankees.lhblogs.com/2010/06/21/colin-curtis-called-up-from-scranton/ Chad Jennings is reporting that the Yankees have called up Colin Curtis from Scranton for tonight's game. No word yet on who he will replace. He will also have to be added to the 40 man roster.
  17. I'm listening to offers for both Ryan Zimmerman and Miguel Cabrera. Looking for a shortstop, closer, maybe another starter or 2 (never hurts), and possibly an OF bat.
  18. I agree Jacko. Since he was drafted we've all heard about his stuff and potential, but unfortunately the TJ derailed him for a while, virtually thrusting him into "non-prospect" status. Now that he's recovered more fully and really getting back into the swing of things, it's good to see him slowly starting to live up to the expectations associated with him upon being drafted. I just read an article on him yesterday (I don't recall who wrote it off-hand, but I'll try and find the link), and it seems like mechanically he's come a long way, and aside from some control struggles and other inconsistencies, especially with his velocity, he could be well on his way to reclaiming his status as a top prospect in the Yankee organization and living up to to the expectations associated with him upon his being drafted. I hope he does well the rest of the season, gets that velocity up consistently, and works his way through the system. We could use that type of 6'10" power pitcher in the Bronx in the near future. Better late than never. I just hope he proves all his doubters over the past few years wrong.
  19. Sure, I'll also mention it to the guy who held onto x number of specific players whose preseason projections indicated they would have huge years yet they're struggling to hit .240 or hovering with an ERA above 4. You can't just look at it from one side. Projections are a tossup, sometimes they're accurate, sometimes they're not. Look at the "2010 Projections" tab above your lineup and tell me how many of your players are on pace to either surpass or fall short of those projections? And I just noticed that AGAIN, you continue to post trade offers I've sent you, but you continue to neglect posting the entire offer. There was definitely another player going your way on that one.
  20. Ian Kinslet though...If you had Starsburg, would you trade him for Ian Kinsler??
  21. Looking at the numbers, I don't see Victorino over Coghlan necessarily as an upgrade at the moment, same with Sanchez/Hamels. Do you just review these trades based on names, or do you actually look at their numbers as well?
  22. Hahaha....I have nothing but respect for you as a poster in general on the board, but as a fantasy player, it's almost a joke. Buying low? Yeah, let him sell high on the brightest pitching prospect since Doc Gooden and buy low on a slumping second baseman. Why don't I just gift-wrap Zimmerman for you while I'm at it lol.
  23. The only problem with the numbers that project performance is just that, they PROJECT, or speculate as to what the player may do. I prefer to stick to statistics that reflect the players already existing performance. I;d rather not f*** with the Miss Cleo statistics, because if there's one thing I know in baseball, it's that things don't usually go as expected. As for Zim/Rolen, I know Rolen is doing better right now, but Zim is obviously the better all around player. That's not to say Rolenisn't having a great year, but he's not even in Zimmerman's league. In my opinion he's the best third baseman in the national league, and the package you expect me to take in return is almost laughable, if not insulting.
