  1. How's that tasting over there buddy?
  2. I love watching college baseball. It just doesnt get much exposure. But I'm lovin the CWS this year.
  3. No thanks. Ormore appropriately Tim Redding and Darrel May. Even though Quantrill was struggling that year, that trade was a DISASTER. And lets not forget Chase Wright was rushed quite a bit and didn't look too terrible in all of his starts. Although the Sox fans would beg to differ because the one outing that most of them saw was his atrocious blowup at Fenway. I still think he could turn out to be decent. He's pitching well in AA this year. 6-1 with a 2.56 in Trenton. Anyway though, the last thing I want the Yankees to do is go out and give up the farm on that fatass Sabathia. I would rather a less costly, higher gamble like Maddux, Lowe, Wolf, etc. Someone along those lines. For now though I think we let Giese try to piece it together. If not we've got some arms worth taking a look at. Karstens, White, etc. Lets not forget the likes of Kennedy, Igawa (gulp), and even dare I say Pavano (double gulp). You know Pavano wants a contract next year. He may be able to contribute something down the stretch. But like I said, I want no part of Sabathia and his 4.26 ERA. Only good thing that could come from getting him is the draft picks. But who knows if the exchange is worth it, depends on what we would give up. Whatever happened to those David Wells whispers? ..Rocket relaunch anybody? hahaha
  4. Yeah really. They should have never let him take the trip. And according to Jon Heyman, Omar assured Willie on the team bus after the game last night leaving Angels Stadium that he had nothing to worry about. I was in and out of sleep all night with ESPNEWS on the tv,and throughout the course of the night I remember hearing the breaking news, but when I woke up I completely forgot about it and dismissed it as a dream, but when I heard on SportsCenter this morning I was stunned that it was indeed true. Very classless maneuver by Omar and the Wilpons. And now Fred is trying to act as if he had nothing to do with it, claiming that it was "Omar's call." That's such ********. All of them are full of it.
  5. ok now you're just talking out of your ass. Much like Hank does. I guess that puts you in the same category all you bean-heads put him in.
  6. I'mhearing September. This is such a blowww to our rotation. When things seem to start going good of course we get hit with this s***. Can't ever catch a break.
  7. I want NO PART of C.C. Sabathia. Plain and simple.
  8. SFoC, offer sent.
  9. So they're not even in fights and crap or anything??
  10. did a bunch of these posts get deleted?
  11. WHen we wrap this one up we'll be 4 over 500. Thankfully.
  12. Bill what crawled up you? It isn't that serious. There are 50 rounds, why are you so hung up on this one pick? Secondly, you're not a scout so I dont understand your strongly stated opinion regarding this kid. The Yankees drafted him last year too, so obviously there's something they like. Even if his ceiling isn't that high, does it hurt to take a shot on a guy who can throw with both arms? I also want to point out that most drafted pitchers don't throw upwards of 95. 86 to 89, while not overpowering is fine. I interned with a NY-Penn League team last summer and got to see a lot of draftees in their first year of pro ball, and guess what; most of them don't throw 94, 95, 96+. Success isn't based solely on how hard you throw the ball, more importantly is how you can control it and what you can do with your pitches. None of us have even seen this dude pitch yet, so lets save our critique. I also don't understand your point in trying to compare picks from a particular round. It's so insignificant, it hardly matters. Theres 50 picks. Believe it or not a few 1st rounders from this draft wont make it, and in all likelihood a few 35-50th rounders will. The draft is a crapshoot in baseball.
  13. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/2008/06/12/2008-06-12_ambidextrous_pitcher_pat_venditte_headed-2.html
  14. Anyone have any clue if they're gonna groom Venditte exclusively as a righty or are they gonna let him switch-pitch? They're listing him as a righty but it would be pretty awesome to have a switch-pitcher on the mound haha. The last one I remember was Greg Harris, the former Red Sox (And prior to Alan Embree the last pitcher to pitch for both the Yankees and red Sox in the same year; 1994).
  15. I have a few proposals out. Please respond soon.
  16. I wanted to chime in on this, but I'm a big Paul O'Neil fan. And we know the wrath endured by many a water cooler because of him.
  17. Hahaha I'm sure I will see you there.
  18. Josh has already committed to the Home Run Derby. Should be exciting. AND I will be there!!
  19. And considering he's 3-8 with a 4.81 ERA, I'm not sure if thats a good thing.
  20. We wouldn't be able to trade any of them. ...can't trade a player until 1 year after he signs his first professional contract
  21. Didn't see the other thread in the Minor League forum. If you want we can just take this discussion over there..
  22. Apparently all of the picks for the Negro League draft have been determined. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080529&content_id=2795840&vkey=draft2008&fext=.jsp
  23. So MLB.com is reporting that the Rays are gonna take Tim Beckham. The Pirates are probably gonna take Alvarez. Posey is a guy I've been following closely. I doubt he makes it past the Orioles at 4, with probably KC or Baltimore picking him up. Anyway, we'll see soon enough. I'm also interested to see this Negro League "Draft" at 1. Should be interesting.
