  1. Dude idk if it's drugs that you're on or drugs that you NEED to be on, but please get some help.
  2. It would only be used for Home Runs.
  3. Of course it's a joke when Pedro does it.If a Yankee does it it's an outrage (and rightfully so).
  4. It may have began the process that changed it, but call up NESN, dig through their vault, and you'll see clearly that in like 2005-2006 the Yankees got more coverage than the Sox. Still today, features on that station involving Sox fans and their stories or whatever pretty much always include something derogatory or anti-Yankee in it. It is crystal clear that the Red Sox, their fans, their front office, and everyone associated with them get more joy out of a Yankee loss than they do a Red Sox win. Every time. Despite the 2004 championship (followed by no postseason in 2005) and the 2007 championship, the Yankees are still a premier franchise. We have nothing to be jealous of, except that in the past 5 years you guys have more rings (while we have more wins, divisions, and playoff appearances ..just had to throw tht in there). The heart of Red Sox Nation is built upon an inferiority complex towards the Yankees, and everyone knows it. I'm not ignoring the stats, I realize what kind of player Jacoby is, but I'm not going to call him a proven commodity. And I still believe that when they are both fully developed veterans that Melky will have more to offer. It's hard to compare because Jacoby is a small-ball leadoff guy who runs well but doesnt hit for power. Melky has more pop, is more aggressive, and has a better arm. Their both gonna be fun to watch over the course of their careers, and all we can do is see how their careers play out. When did I say he WAS Mike Mussina? His stuff and demeanor is comparable. Just because he experiences growing pains in his first big-league season doesn't mean he's a wash and a failure. And Mike Mussina didn't have 200+ wins after 9 big league starts either. He was stellar his first few starts before being injured, and in relief of Clemens in Game 4 against Cleveland.
  5. Just stumbled across this today while browsing through some old posts. Boras's motives aside, I think it's an intriguing idea. Nothing will probably ever come of it, but I like it a lot. Sure, there are some flaws, but I think it can generate a lot of excitement, revenue, and attention to the World Series, and could possibly eventually propel Baseball and the World Series back to the top of the American Sports ladder, where it should be. I guess considering nothing about this has been heard since the proposal, it's highly doubtful, but I just wanted to chime in.
  6. I guess the purpose of this thread is to discuss ANYTHING All-Star related. Suggestions, voting, HR Derby, Futures, the game itself, anything surrounding it, etc. What spurred me to make this today is the announcement that the 2010 game will be held at Angels Stadium, as Bud Selig will anounce in Anaheim on Wednesday. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-allstar23-2008may23,0,1332718.story Also, for those who don't know, next year's game will be held at New Busch Stadium in St. Louis. 53 days and counting until the Mid-summer classic is played in the Bronx...
  7. It was definitely Guccione, as you can see Girardi gettinginto it with him here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Num9um0-ik ....oh wait,I get the joke. Donaghy the former NBA ref/chronic gambler
  8. In case nobody heard, Jon Lester threw one the other day lol
  9. There is no justification for throwing at, or near someones head intentionally.
  10. I have one...it's a little worn though, unfortunately. It is a real nice shirt though.
  11. Noneof that PROVES anything. Except that he's on a hot-streak. I'm not saying it's a fluke, but you have to do something for more than 76 games. I never said that Melky has proven much either, but you can't call somebody a proven player based on 76 games. How many is it gonna take for you guys to put him in Cooperstown, 300? You guys jump to conclusions way too quickly. See Shane Spencer, Bud Smith, others. Peace I'm out..
  12. For years I've disagreed with the introduction of instant replay into baseball, andnow I'm just conflicted. The human element is such a beautiful part of the game, but at this point it's worth exploring. Michael Kay was talking about it on tonights telecast and he said they would try it out in the AFL this fall, and then if that goes well in the WBC in the Spring, and then possibly be implemented for the start of next season. So we'll just have to wait and see.
  13. Go look at your stats, I'll WATCH the game. If you would like I'll return in 20 minutes with some analysis to satisfy your statistical desires. ..the point I was trying to make though is that if Melky hasn't proven anything, then what exactly has Jacoby proven?? s***!
  14. Then Hazel can come over here and give me the chance to get very acquainted with her. I know she's somewhat of a butter-face, but something about her turns me on. This chick though is very....eh, talented as well.
  15. Whaddya know, it's Robbie Cano comin' through in the 9th!
  16. Am I dreaming or did I actually see Ian Kennedy put up a quality start tonight? Generous zone or not, he still looked good tonight. Great if you want to compare him to his previous 6 starts this year. And Mo is NASTY as usual. He got snubbed on that Cy Young back in '06, something tells me if he keeps it up he may be in contention for it this year.
  17. For the sake of fairness lets say 2006. lol And you really don't think Cano has the ability to win a batting title? What, because he's off to a slow start this season? Melky hasn't shown you that he's a good young center fielder with tons of potential? He's shown about as much, maybe more than Jacoby and Gomez have. Hits well, plays good defense (although he may zig-zag from time to time out there), has a good arm, runs well, etc. Kennedy has similar stuff as Mike Mussina and could one day be up there. If Hughes's performance this year is what you're basing that statement on, what about last year? Give him some time, he needs more than 19 Major League starts before we declare that he is a failure. I'm getting a whif of some good old-fashinoed anti-Yankee bias with this one.
  18. Here's to hoping that Kennedy can at least give us somewhat of decent outing tonight....
  19. That isn't true. Maybe to an extent, but forever it's been the other way around. Sox fans, players, broadcasters and brass are infatuated with the Yankees. They make every move aronud what the Yankees do and what they anticipate the reaction. NESN postgame analysis used to revolve around the Yankees (idk if it still does because I stopped watching it because Tom Carron makes me want to pull my f***ing hair out).
  20. Appreciate the advice. However, it isn't a fact that the Yankees are chock-full of talented and experienced players? Those combined with the mental aspect (attitude) is what typically determines the outcome. I'm not dumb, I know the Yankees are gonna go out and get a veteran or two, as will probably the Red Sox, and a dozen other teams. I still think that we have a good team out there now that can only get better with such an addition. THANK YOU Rasner reminds you of Kennedy? Another stellar outing by Rasner tonight should tell you that he and Kennedy; as we know him NOW, are polar opposites. Rasner is a real talented pitcher who has been overlooked for so long. Washington overlooked him and in what was even at the time a puzzling move let him hit the waiver wire, and the Yankees got a steal. I'm not saying he's Don Drysdale, but with a little experience and seasoning he could turn out to be quite a good starting pitcher in the Major Leagues for a few years to come. After all, he is what, like 27 now? Some players develop at a different rate than others, and Rasner has shown in each year he has seen time with the Yanks (3 seasons, like 8 different uniform numbers lol. Anyone remember what he wore in Spring Training, because I can't remember it for the life of me. Been trying to figure it out for weeks. It may have been, but I dont believe it was his current 43) that he has something. It's just a matter of polishing it and channeling it with some consistency, which he looks to be in the process of doing. I'm sure he'll get roughed up a few times this year, but so far, SOOOO good. I expect it will be that way more times than not. Sure does. Very disappointing. Just like a week ago when asked about it Joe said in a fit that there were no plans etched in stone, and they would proceed with him as they felt best fit their needs. And it's no question that he fits best in the bullpen right now. That's where we need him.
  21. I agree. If the Red Sox play near the level they have played thus far for the rest of the way there is no way in hell we catch you guys, but like you said the Wild Card remains wide open. I expect that the Yankees SHOULD be one of the best 4 teams in the AL come October. We just have to wait and see.
  22. I misinterpreted your post, I thought those responses of "Humungous Media Market! Gargantuan Payroll! Absurdly high revenues!" were meant sarcastically. You insinuating that I "insult" you is absurd, as of all the members on this board your opinion is one that I respect most. And what from my post did you take as an insult? I thought you were being sarcastic, so all I said was that despite what u guys think, the Yankees are not done. And despite what your BP report says, I prefer to let the games play out on the FIELD rather than in some Baseball Prospectus writer/stat geek's boring thoughts. The season is still early, and before we draw conclusions that teams like the Yankees and Tigers suck while teams like the Orioles and A's are favorites let's see it done over a consistent length of time. Lets play 75-80 and see where things stand before we etch the season in stone. What it comes down to is who can play the best ball over the course of 162 games. Say what you want about all the other aspects; coaching/managing, offensive woes, pitching problems, injuries, etc., frankly there is too much talent on the Yankee roster to be this bad ALL year. Every year when we get off to a bad start fans of opposing teams throw their hands up in jubilation and count us out; (maybe not you because you're not that ignorant) but we're always there in the end. And so what if we need to make a move. Maybe we don't, but if so what's the big deal? How come when the Yankees make an addition to improve the club it's "buying" players, championships, etc; but when other teams make a move at the deadline to bolster their rotation, or lineup, or bullpen they're just going out and bettering themselves? How come the 29 other teams can make trades and acquisitions but if the Yankees doit it's a devilish act of greed? Logic? And if a move is made and we do make a run, it's not just because of that player, but because the TEAM played well. Sure the addition may help, but he doesn't play every position, so fact of the matter still remains that the experience, talent, and attitude of the Yankees is what will determine how they end up, not some player that we bring in to "buy our way back into contention."
  23. Thankfully I didnt get him lol. I'm still confident he'll be pretty strong the rest of the way.
  24. What do u mean ouch? Rasner has been pretty good. Crespo and JHB can joke about it, but the bottom line is the Yankees have too much talent to play this badly all year. It is still ONLY MAY guys. Who knows whats gonna happen, but I think you guys writing them off this early is as asinine as you guys think my statement is. Fact of the matter is that while they have experienced early struggles, and bad ones, this team, with the roster, payroll, experience, and attitude they have are bound to snap out of it. Like I said, we'll see what happens. I dont think we'll be having this conversation by the All Star Break, and I sure as hell doubt that these things will be being said by October. Idc how u guys feel, count them out for all I give a f***, but the Yankees aren't dead, and definitely not this soon.
