  1. Its just how we are. Dont blame the players, we make them do it. Its a sign of appreciation.
  2. This is the third of 19 games. I wouldnt exactly make that statement.
  3. Where do you grt these numbers from with lifetime stats vs. a particular pitcher? Melky Cabrera is not garbage. You guys should look beyond last night's dropped ball, because there was absolutely no way he would have caught that one. From where I was sitting I was surprised he got his glove on it. Melky was batting .385 in Columbus for christ's sake. GArbage? I think not.
  4. Yeah, I have to agree with you guys. That was a little ridiculous by Johnny.
  5. Thanks guys. Appreciate it.
  6. Thats a good thing. Melky is the man. He takes a bad wrap for absolutely no reason.
  7. He was suspended for "A confrontation with an umpire" because of how heated he got. I think it's fair to say though that if he doesnt slam the helmet down, he's not suspended. But also, if he just walks away and doesnt get in the umpire's face, he probably doesnt get suspended either. No way Bernie gets suspended. I'm pretty sure you're right.
  8. Right, I know he wont be going to Double A, I was just curious if they could send him down somewhere else, other than the international league, or if the suspension would still be in effect. I just used Double A as an example.
  9. I've asked a couple people and nobody knows. It is the International League that is suspending him. So not that they would, becausde it would be stupid, but COULD the Devil Rays send him down to Double A or something and would he be allowed to play there since it's not the international league? Thanks.
  10. What a day trying to get tickets. It was a MAD DASH until the very end. I spent about $150 more than I wanted to, but got great seats, and made it to the game on time (something I didnt think would happen with how the process was unfolding). Yeah, baby!
  11. Yeah? I knew about Delmon. I heard he was absolutely HATED by all of his teammates. But I always heard good things about Upton. I've been pulling for him last few years. Back in 2003 he was projected pretty highly, he should be in Tampa Bay by now starting. How's he doing down there?
  12. 34 pages? What the f***? I see these numbers that Zach posted in the post above mine and have no idea what they mean, nor will I ever because I refuse to go back and read 34 pages. OK, so this was definately not one of my facorite games. Rough night at the Stadium. I knew the night would be bad when I couldnt find any media guides (Media Guides are my bible until the next year;s edition is released, and I have yet to find an 06 Guide) ANYWHERE in or around the Stadium. However, I was very excited ALL DAY due to the fact that Melky was coming up (as you all know, I am Melky Cabrera's biggest fan. Absolutely no exaggeration whatsoever) and I was excited for him to shut up the Sox fans and the Yankee fans who didnt know diddly-s*** about him and just continuously bashed him due to his 6 games last year. Anyways, me and my friend get in the Stadium (first we go to Vinny Milano's T-Shirt stand to see what cool shirts he has for this game, but he has no anti-Sox shirts. Said he "isnt allowed" to sell them anymore. Bummer), get food, get a drink, go to the bathroom. We walk out of the concoarses into the actual stadium. Yell at Willie Harris, and then go to our seats. Having a great time, as usual when i'm at the Stadium. Giambi hits the Home Run, place erupts. Then it all goes downhill from there One thing I will say is I have never heard such boos towards a Yankee player AT Yankee Stadium than I heard when Joe pulled Randy. It was mindblowing. Another thing about that game was that there were these two hippie Sox fans sitting two rows behind us, annoying as hell (and the girl didnt know s***. She was always getting the players names wrong and s***, it was annoying. The guy seemed pretty cool though). Of coarse as the game went on and the Sox lead increased, they got louder and louder. Very annoying. However, they did take their fare shar of abuse ( as did any other Sox fans who started s***). But there were two confrontations they had with Yankee fans that made me almost ashamed to be a Yankee fan. Some idiotic herb who was sitting one row behind us started yelling at them and and was telling them how stupid they are and whatnot, and on the baseball side of the arguement he certainly won, but the Sox fan came back and buried him with personal insults. So much so that the guy was so embarrassed he left. Second altercation was with these two guys. However, these two guys didnt know s***. They kept saying s*** like "hey bitch, when you get 27 titles then come talk to us. Right now you only have won." And a bunch of stupid s*** like that. I was almost considering getting up and f***ing yelling at these Sox fans, who I personally hadnt had any problems with, but just to make up for the stupidity of these other Yankee fans, to keep face. However, these Sox fans got ejected soon after because one of the "27 Titles" guys almost got into a fight with the Hippy Sox fan because the Hippy female Sox fan said something abotu him as he was walking away. Anyways, SUPER irrelevent, just thought I would share. But my night was horrible. I stayed for the entire game, and me and my friend were literally the last 2 Yankee fans in the section by the time it ended. I was not happy at all. And another side note, I'm sure everybody here bashed Melky on that play. However, at the angle I was sitting at, right in left field with a view of the game that the TV audience didnt see, there was no way Melky could have caught that ball. In fact, although it probably didnt look like it from the TV view, Cano actually settled under the ball and called melky off, then a gust of wind pushed the ball back, but since Cano had called for it, Melky was caught off guard. I do not blame Melky for that play, not his fautlt. BEcause of last night and last year he takes a bad wrap, but he's really a fantastic player. He was hitting .276 in AAA and was playing a very good Center Field. Not that we should have been surprised, because he was great in Spring Training as well. Because Melky is the man. Another thing on Melky, not that it has any relevence, but I felt extremely stupid last night I cheered for Melky like people usually cheer for the likes of Jeter. I definately got looked at funny hahah. Its cool though.
  13. Guess who's going tongiht BITCHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm out, gotta run.
  14. Nothing too interesting in this show. I did like that Joe Torre narrarated though.
  15. No, it wont take the pain away. Nothing can do that. Thats already said and done. But beating him, on that mound, in that uniform will sure be sweet though. At this point I'M better than Keith Foulke. And i've never pitched a day in my life.
  16. I agree with you, but I think Timlin gets an edge over Farnsworth. Timlin has proved that he can do it in a pressure situation, and Farnsworth still hasnt been as good as expected, IMO. He doesnt turn to his slider very much, relies on the fastball, and gets hit. I have confidence that he will be good for us all year, but his short history with pressure situations isnt too good, and until he can prove he can do it here, then I give Mikey Timlin the edge. As for Proctor, I have faith he can do good here, as long as he keeps his composure and doesnt get intimidated. He has been great all season long and I hope it continues.
  17. Yes, Flaherty has been terrific! And as for Sturtze, i've really liked having him here. But he cant stay on the roster when Pavano/Dotel come back. I hope he does clear waivers though, I really want to keep him in the organization. Maybe he can go down to Columbus and get his stuff in order than come back later on in the year.
  18. What the hell are you talking about? Mussina wasnt even on the mound in either of those situations (although he did pitch in the Boston series, dont remember if he lost or not, but it wasnt his fault we didnt win it). Mussina is a calm, mellow guy. Seems like a good guy, good father, family man, etc. I've loved him since he's been with the Yankees, exactly the kind of guy I want on my team. I doubt Mussina has caused any problems.
  19. Maybe with Joey Torre's love affair with Tanyon Sturtze it's Smalley who gets the pink-slip in about two weeks in favor of Carl Pavano.
  20. So what are you saying? That he was milking itlast year because it wasnt his contract year, and the only reason he's pitching well is because he's motivated due to his upcoming free agency? Ridiculous. Players dont slack off when they have job security due to a contract and then turn it back up when their contract is about to expire. Ridiculous. He wants to win a championship as bad as the next guy. I'm not in favor of trading Sheffield, but I wouldnt cry if we did. Could definately get a nice little package of Minor Leaguers or something, and it would also allow Melky to come up and start, possibly. However, Sheffield's intensity, drive, motivation, and Home Run power are things that i'm not too sure i'm willing to part with yet.
  21. Yes!!! Doesnt get any better than YES! If you guys actually put your bias aside and actually watch YES and pay attention during the pre/post game show and the actual game telecast you will otice the high level of analysis. Al Leiter does a great job. Bob Lorenz is god compared to Tom Caron, Jim Kaat should be a Ford Frick Award Winner. Ken Singleton is always fun to listen to. If Paul O'Neill is in the booth (doubtful) then he's always great to listen to. Same with Bobby Murcer, who I think, with the Oklahoma accent and all is a ball to listen to. Only guy I wouldnt make a press kit for and promote endlessly is David Justice. I like him and think he's good, but he still has some work to do to become a good broadcaster. But still enjoy listening to him. And i', not even gonna say anything about Michael Kay, everybody here is aware of my admiration towards the man Thank god for the YES Network. Ifwe could only get Scooter to come back to the booth for 2 or 3 games a year we would be the all-time greatest RSN without question (although YES has already been praised as the best RSN in the Nation) OK, enough of my YES love affair. Back to baseball, guys. Torre wont be very happy, because we all know Torre loves Sturtze. However, I dont see Cashman making any other move when Pavano comes back in about 2 weeks. {roctor CANNOT be sent down. But if Sturtze gets DFAd for Pavano, I wonder who gets the boot for Dotel. Will be interesting to see. Oh Yeah! If we win, especially against Beckett, it will surely be SWEET. Been waiting 2+ years to get BEckett back on that Yankee Stadium mound. Schmuck! Not that I want to see Sheffield on the DL, but it would be great to see my guy Melky Cabrera (who I have been behind 110% since BEFORE his callup last year), or less likely Kevin Thompson who I fell in love with in Spring Training despite the fact I hated him last year (lol when there was talk of promoting him to be the center fielder rather than Melky )
  22. After losing MOnday in Beantown, riding a 5 game winning streak is exactly how I want to go into a Red Sox series in the Bronx. The fact that we're hot and at home givs us an edge, I think. Definately looking forward to it. I'll have tomorrow to build up anticipation and then the war begins Tuesday Night. Definately looking for some 2003 revenge against Josh Beckett. Maybe rather than grounding out to him, Jorgie can take him deep or something.
  23. Robinson Tejada is a good young pitcher, and I remember while I was in Philadelphia for a week last September hearing a lot about him. I saw him pitch a few times last year and was pretty impressed. Not looking forward to facing him today, however I am confident that the Yankees' veteran bats can come through and knock the kid around for a few runs. Lets get ourselves a sweep, baby!
