  1. You guys always accuse us of having the "rose-colored, pinstripe glasses" on, but maybe its not our bias thats the problem. Maybe the problem here is your Anti-Yankee bias. God forbid you admit that Jeter is a hell of a player and has not failed to do good things in the postseason. Would it hurt that bad?
  2. Riv gave us some facts as well. And those facts clearly show that Jeter gets the job done and does his part. You dont have to bat .873 and have 2729832 Postseason home runs to be clutch. Jeter once said "Love is doing the things that dont show up in the box score." Jeter does those little things very well. Thats why he's so good. I've seen him produce for us in the postseason for years, and regardless of what stats you throw out there, I know he is a productive clutch performer in the postseason.
  3. yeah. Actually, he was so bad we almost traded him to Seattle. Thank god we didnt.
  4. Well hey, if he doesnt do that maybe we dont win the game. Clutch isnt defined as coming through in the late innings, its coming through when your team needs it. Good post Riv, thanks for that one. Also, I love how none of them had an intelligent response.
  5. PRetty much. Some anti-Yankee faggot on ESPN isnt going to tell me that what my eyes have seen for years is a lie.
  6. His flip play in 2001 definately should be remembered. We were down 2 games to none in a best of 5 series. If he doesnt make that play we might lose. And I didnt read the entire thread, but just by the title of this thread, why donet you ask BK Kim and Keith Foulke (among many oother pitchers) if Jeter is clutch. I wonder what they say. And as for the PD/Prima Donna s***, Jeter is NOT a prima donna. He doesnt do anything to stand out. He shows no signs of selfishness or anything like that (although I know you'd dispute that by him not "volunteering" to move when we got A-Rod. But i'm sorry, but the guy was there for 8 years at that point and had won 4 championships, he has the right to want to stay at shortstop). You want a prima donna? Manny Ramirez. He's 38473845838457385763674873 times the prima donna that Derek Jeter is.

I wish. I would bust in my pants, no lie. I wanted Ichiro so bad in the offseason when those rumors were going around.

IF SHeff is out an extended period of time and we do need to go out and get an outfielder, this is the guy that I think we most likely get. He's in his contract year, he doesnt like it in Washington, they dont like him, he wants out, they want to drop the contract, etc, etc, etc. It shouldnt be too hard with all of that being considered. Much easier to get him than say Torii Hunter or maybe even Shannon Stewart. The Nats would be willing to part with him pretty easily. Maybe Tanyon Sturtze, Kevin Reese, possibly Aaron Small, and I think maybe some middle of the rotation guy down in Charleston or something. At the most, thats what it would take. Maybe they want Jaret Wright instead of Sturtze/Small which is fine with me, but we dont pick up a dime of his contract. But like I said, I think that sounds like a pretty good package considering everything I mentioned before about both parties' desire to part ways plus the upcoming free agency not to mention the $10 Million price tag that the new owners would love to get rid of.
  9. We could have brought up Bean. He still has options. And I wouldnt be surprised if Mendoza could make it through waivers. Same with Erickson, unless he does a real goo djob I wouldnt be surprised to see him back in Columbus, however i'm not counting on it, he'll likely be claimed.
  10. Columbus
  11. I would hope nobody boos him. How could anyone be bitter about him leaving? He didnt exactly get the best treatment there towards the end. In fact I remember on several occasions (at least twice) he declared he was planning on leaving the Sox when he was a free agent because he couldnt take it anymore. One of those times took place a year and a half before he was a Free Agent. Had he gone to the Yankees, like he once said he wanted to do, then I would expect boos, but under no other circumstances should he be bood.
  12. Why??? I'm thrilled about Sturtze coming back and everything, but Erickson doesnt make much sense to me. We should have called up Matt Smith or DeSalvo or someone like that. Even Karstens would be good. s***, i'd refer Mendoza, even. IDK how Erickson is doing down there, but by bringing him up, we would have to DFA him when Pavano/Sturtze comes back and we would likely lose him. IDK, whatever though. Honestly, now that I think about it, this might just be a ploy for Torre to be able to keep Sturtze in the organization. DL him for a bit (that way we dont have to DFA him when Pavano comes back), let him pitch some extended Spring games, then start the 30 day rehab clock, and then call him back up when somebody else goes down. It's a Torre conspiracy!!

    I know lol
  14. Oh s***, such a crazy day so far I completely forgot the game was on at 1. Better go watch it.
  15. I dont know if I would. Halladay is better than Schilling. Beckett and Burnett are both in the same boat, good talent however injury prone. But Beckett has been better this year. And Chacin's age and the fact that he's a lefty is a plus. But Wakefield IS a Knuckler, which is always nice too. Definately a tough call. However, Lilly over Clement in a heartbeat and Towers over DiNardo, but not Wells.
  16. yeah, he's been very good. Since Spring Training we saw a rapid improvement with this kid. As for Pavano, hopefully he can come back and do something good for us. That sure would be nice.

I liked Wilson a lot and wanted us to get him in the offseason because he is also capable of catching, and when news was that Joe was considering using Jorge as a DH a lot this year we would have needed a third player capable of catching. But not that we've seen that wont be the case, coupled with the fact that there is no room for WIlson without losing Melky, I dont want him. As for trading out for an outfielder, that seems to be what everybody thinks the Yankees will do. I do not think that, nor do I hope that. But if we were to do that the only guys i'd want are Soriano, Hunter, Stewart, Delucci, maybe Sanders, and maybe Wilson. Should have called up Kevin Thompson. He's faster, plays good defense, can steal bases, and is a leadoff/contact type hitter. Definately would have preferred to see him.

    Definately, I love this kid.
  19. Good pitching, Good defense, timely hitting. Good win tonight vs Oakland. Aside from Mo getting into a little trouble in the ninth, very positive game for us. 2-0 Final Score.
  20. If you think it would take Hughes/Duncan, etc. to get Huff than you are out of your mind. We're not that desperate. Plus, why is everybody of the belief that us playing a kid out in the outfield is a bad thing. We didi t with Cano last year and it worked out pretty well. Same with Jeter in '96. When Sheffield comes back at the end of the month we'll be fine with Melky/Crosby.
  21. Jesus Christ. Its the teams decision who get sthe promotion. I dont bitch because i'm too old for bobblehead promotions at Yankee Stadium (I just give some kid $10 and take his ). This guy is f***ing ridiculous.
  22. Calling up Kevin Reese is a mistake. He's good and all, and takes a bad wrap for not doing so hot last year, and will probably one day serve as a Shane Spencer type player, but Kevin Thompson is who should have been called up. He's quick, can steal bases, plays a good outfield, and does a decnet job at the plate, and the fact that he had a great spring training should mean something.
  23. Na, we wouldnt do that. Unless the Nats were giving him away.
  24. Congrats, Riverside
