  1. Don't we play KC here? Anyways, my list of CURRENT Red Sox that I would cheer includes David Wells, Papelbon (that won't be happening for another 18-20 years), Manny, and Varitek. And if Clemens ends up there, then of coarse him too. Nomar is another one, but he isn't there anymore, obviously. But I like Nomar a lot.
  2. Surprised? I'm not. These guys love twisting things without having any idea what they're talking about.
  3. Thats a pretty cheap shot. f*** you.
  4. You never heard of Bert Blyleven? Burt was the man!
  5. This is like 1827817 times in a row. You have a tendancy to do this a lot. I'd rather him look like he was gonna cry than have f***ing smile on his face. Dont ya think?
  6. Agreed, seeing a pitcher as dominant as Pedro OVER A TWO YEAR STRETCH or so likely wont happen again. But s***, Brady Anderson was the man for one year. Doesn't mean anything. Thos who can do it over a period of a career are the greatest in my opinion (and don't get me wrong, i'm not saying the rest of Pedro's career wasnt good, or even great. Because it was. But his career isn't as good as Roger Clemens' career).
  7. Agreed. Polanco wasn't considered a really good player at the time of the trade. He really made his name in Philly. No way he was the centerpiece, if anything he was the throw-in. They would have definately needed to get somebody to play at the Major League level in that deal to please the fans. It just happened to work out well. Nobody predicted it would turn out the way it did for Polanco.
  8. Last I remember he was shipped to Philly in the Scott Rolen deal (I think, could be mistaken). Thankd Beckett95 for the update on Bud. And I bet you loved that 6 pitcher no-hit job. The most illegitimate no-hitter in history I personally think that a no-hitter shouldnt be recognized as a no hitter if it takes more than one pitcher to get it done. But I know that i'm going to get jumped on because the 6-pitcherjob was done against the Yankees, but thats not my reasoning for why I feel this way.
  9. Exactly what I was gonna say. Roger has been great a lot longer than Pedro, and is older than Pedro. Granted, I dont know if you can find a better pitcher than Pedro Martinez of the last 90's, early 2000's. But thye fact that Roger has been great for much longer and is older gives it to him in my book. And to echo the Maddux thing, why isn't Randy Johnson in this discussion?
  10. yeah, tell me about it.
  11. I dont mind this. In fact, I think back during Spring Training some of us here were throwing this idea around.
  12. And the award for the stupidest post of the day goes to...... ....empirestrikesback26, in a landslide! Hahaa jp man. But seriously, give Melky some time. Cano had two weeks of struggle time last year. Lets give Melky a chance. Kid is 21 years old and when he gets going he'll be a pretty damn good hitter.
  13. Hmm, Thats a toss-up if i'm a Sox fan. I'm always oe who prefers to have homegrown talent, but Verlander is a hell of a pitcher and should definately become something great. Don't know TOO much about Zumya, very little, actually.
  14. If thats the case then how come everybody wasnt winning 500 games? Granted, it was a different game, but he was still the best pitcher of the era. Should count for something if you ask me. I happen to really like Frank Castillo I was kind of hoping that the Yankees would have signed him to a Minor League deal last year before he signed with Florida hah
  15. Fair enough.
  16. Right, but regardless of how "lucky" or fortunate he has been, he's still been dominating. The definition of dominating doesnt include the words strikeout, K/9 Rate, etc. He's been dominant, for whatever reason (or maybe excuse?) you want to provide, its still been so. He's been amazing his last two starts.
  17. Also, according to the Post we have DFA'd Felix Escalona and are very close to signing Terrance Long, who has just recently been released by the Reds. I dont understand why Escalona had to be DFA'd for this one, there is still a spot open on the 40 Man roster. This move wasnt necessary. Whatever though.
  18. So wait? To be dominating you have to strike people out? Thats dumb. You're pretty much saying Wang has only been good because he's been "lucky" with getting the DP's. Thats like saying Roger Clemens only got a lot of strikeouts because he throws hard, or Rickey Henderson only stole a lot of bases because he's fast. Why not just give the guy some credit, he's been good.
  19. Chacon is hurt, too? And now ANOTHER setback with Pavano? I'm about to start pulling my hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (however, it might just fall out on its own with all this recent stress i'm under)
  20. Yes, another good performance by Wang. Nice to have the starter go 8 innings and then hand it off to Mo who of coarse worked a fabulous 9th inning.
  21. I was so angry. I've been so busy this week (concerts getting ready for prom, school, etc.) that I havent watched all the games from beginning to end, and I fell asleep after first pitch yesterday, woke up, saw the score was 10-5, and went back to sleep. s***, I missed something great. I was angry when I woke up this morning to find that I had missed it.
  22. A lot of people have Eck in there, but he wasnt really a GREAT starter. He was alright in his later days in the roptation, but he's definately a better closer than he is a starter. I think you have to at least start off with this: Cy Young Babe Ruth Roger Clemens Pedro Martinez and then you can choose for several people for #5, whether it be Wood or Tiant, or whomever. Seriously?
  23. I was thrilled when I heard earlier
  24. Have fun whoever wins.
