  1. yup, right across 161st Street in Macombs Dam Park.
  2. I agree, Remy is a very good analyst. But he's a super-homer and I personally get annoyed with him easily. The Kay vs Remy debate is a tough one because Kay is a play by play guy and Remy is an analyst, but hands down I think Kay is better than Orsillo.
  3. I was unaware that it was going to be on YES. I already planned on going over there to see it anyways.
  4. On Wednesday at 10 A.M. Anybody going? I must say, it's about time.
  5. You misunderstood what I was saying. I am not approving of what he said or anything. You guys wanna bash him for that then that's cool. But bashing him as a broadcaster like a few of you guys did it what I was talking about.
  6. where are these dates coming from? They sound reasonable, but where did you hear these specific dates? I woukd just guess thye would both be activated on the first and whether or not they can play at that point would have to be seen.
  7. Yeah, hopefully if things go the way they're going we won't have to worry about them in the playoffs.
  8. I was watching the second game of the Royals/Sox series and was going nuts when Grudzy knocked in the run. And then I was screaming after Sweeney drove him in. That was a great game. Thank god the Red Sox can't taunt us with the fact that we got swept by KC last season.
  9. I know you guys knew I wasn't going to not say something in here. However, I will just proceed as if I had not seen this thread. All I am going to say is that I find it ironic that you Sox fans feel the need to criticize the Yankees' lead broadcaster when you have Jerry Remy and Don ORsillo in your booth. That's all I am going to say. Yankee fans want to bash Kay? Fine. Although I disagree, they have that right to. But until you Sox fans get someone better than Kay, it's pretty ridiculous to be bashing him. As for the call, yeah, when I was listening to it I thought Kay got a little too tempered, but Kay makes a point to be very respectful and polite to callers on his show (unlike the guys on WFAN, which Kay likes to point out) so I can't get too mad one of the few times he gets really upset. I guess he figured the guy's criticism on something that really wasn't a big deal set him off, and I understand that.
  10. only thing I have against the Crosby move is that we now have no speed off the bench. I dont understand why Torre feels the need to carry 12 pitchers. Historically, Torre's preference was 11; he has been forced to carry 12 since 2004 because of contract obligations and whatnot. It doesn't make sense that when we are able to carry 11, finally, he and Cash feel the need to promote Veras. That's nothing against Veras, just against the idea of a 12th pitcher. I mean, it's not as big a deal now as it would have been if this was done like a week ago, because of how versatile our bench is now, but still; there is no speed on the bench. I wonder if anyone claims Crosby. Anyone remember when the Yankees signed Veras in November, some people (don't remember which reporter) were naming him Tom Gordan's replacement  but he did have a pretty nice debut.
  11. I didn't make a remark. I simply said that we were in first place, whether it be sole possession or tied. There was no nasty intent behind my post. And not that it matters because I just explained that you misinterpreted the intent of my post, but when I typed that post and posted it, I hadn't even seen your post yet. Our posts were 3 minutes apart. That was a definate example of you trying to pick a fight, I said nothing instigative or nasty. ____________________________________ 2 game lead, lets keep this going ..sure does feel good.
  12. I'm not complaining about it, I was just pointing it out. And if you were truly trying to give her the benefit of the doubt you wouldn't have said anything at all. Whether or not it was about Varitek or Munson. yeah, MIllar was a scab. As for Spencer/Torre, really? I find that odd. Torre had no problem plugging Spencer into big spots. Seemed like they had a good relationship.
  13. I'm shocked that Jones made it through waivers. I wonder if it's true. I can't see the Yankees, or the Mets, or the Sox, or anyone for that matter not putting a claim in.
  14. I cant agree with you guys more regarding his game-calling ability, but personally I love listening to him. You wont get the clearest visualization of the game, but you will definately get some laughs, and it's not like he does a horrible job calling the games, i'm always able to gather whats going on. I love that he always addresses the little topics that are on my mind that nobody else usually ever talks about, and I love when they get guests in the booth, such as Anthony McCaron and Mayor Guiliani, Randy Levine, etc. Only time I really disliked John Sterling was following game 6 of the 2003 World Series. That day, for some reason, the electric went out in my house and I was forced to go out to the car and listen to the game (thankfully I didnt have to watch Beckett shut us down), and his call at the end of the game was so enthusiastic and energetic, and such a contrast with my mood at the time. He did his famous Yankee call, but substituted Yankees with Marlins. "Ballgame over, World Series over, Marlins win, thaaaaaaaaaa Marlins win!" ..I was pissed. As for Suzyn, I agree, she definately isnt best suited for the booth. She is however, second to none when it comes to reposrting. She is 4734739473920 times the on-field reporter that Kim Jones is. But like I said, as for the radio team in general, I dont mind them. I love his enthusiasm, and I love how non-objective he tries to be while still making it clear he's pulling for the Yanks. I like having a homer, despite other peoples opinion on the matter.
  15. oh god, was what she said even worth a response? it wasn't that big a deal, we endure twice that on a regular basis here. Don't get ridiculous.
  16. lol,you too with the scab stuff? I can understand to a certain extent why some players have a problem with the scabs who crossed over, but is it really that big a deal? I mean, some guys take it to a ridiculous level. Like Cory said during the press conference the other day, he had his reasons. I doubt he'll have any trouble with the Yankees. Shane Spencer never had any trouble, except for one minor incident with Chris Widger I believe, but that's it.
  17. first place, nonetheless.
  18. Appearantly there was a press conference scheduled today, because I turned on ESPNEWS and saw that Cory Lidle and Arthur Rhodes were going back and forth and then they aired Lidle's comments from the rpess conference. Does anyone know if it was on YES? I hadn't heard anything about this being scheduled or anything. Also, in case anyone cares; Abreu takes 53, Bowa switches to 50, Lidle gets 30 and Wilson takes Chacon's 39.
  19. I completely forgot that NOmar was placed on the DL yesterday. Good point. I would have to think they would go with the latter, Kent at first, Lugo at second, Furcal at Short, and betemit at 3rd. Definately. The Dodgers and Rangers were the big winners this week, IMO (with the Yankees, too.). The Rangers, while they only made one high profile trade, did make enormous efforts to improve their team. While I doubt Kip Wells helps them out at all, Matt Stairs should definately help.
  20. oh, alright. I thought you meant he said he wouldn't let the Yankees, specifically, rip off the Pirates anymore. My mistake.
  21. Well for his sake I hope Peterson can fix him up. He was a lot of fun to watch back in 2004, hope he can do it again.
  22. What were the other instances? Seriously, not trying to be sarcastic, they must have slipped my mind.
  23. Yeah, getting highly touted prospects like Shealy and Gathright. This team will definately be a huge contender in like 4 or 5 years.
  24. Where does Lugo play in LA, ya think? Do you think he plays second, Kent moves to third, and Betemit is a role player? Also, is Mueller out for the year? ...this wouldn;t have happened if Lugo accepted the Rays extension proposal for 4 years at $8 Mil a yeal. He wanted $10 mil. Ridiculous. This just happened like a week and a half ago, too.
  25. So who plays second in Chicago, and who plays short? If the Cubs were to get a shortstop I heard they would move Cedeno to second. It doesnt really matter though.
