  1. Boggs was there under Joe for two years, one championship. Paul and Bernie weren't considered superstars. Cecil was a guy who was ressurrecting his career. Timmy was at the end of his career. Same with Chili. Kenny Rogers? Hahahah. As for the pitchers, I can't argue with you. I wasn't really refferring to them when I said B players.
  2. I'm not liking this deal very much. Omar back at it with the Latinos. ...watch him have an AMAZING year though. Every signing of Omar's that I doubted turned out very well.
  3. Solid pitcher. Very good signing for the Yankee-killers,
  4. Good for him. Matthews is a good player, and i'm happy he's finally gotten some recognition the past year or two. I'm not thrilled about him going to the Angels though. Just another solid player to beat up on us for them.
  5. I like Franky Catalanotto. Can't say i'm disappointed about him leaving the division. Good to see him go back to Texas.
  6. Cashman is here to stay regardless of what happens next year. The only way Torre leaves is if he wants to. If he does a poor job this season, he will not come back. He won't be forced out.
  7. Outmanaged? Hardly. The Diamondbacks just played great baseball, almost the entire series. Their pitching was outstanding and they caught a break in Gamne 7. Being 3 outs away from a championship with Mariano Rivera on the mound isn't bad managing. It just worked out for the D-Backs that Mo threw the ball away and Jeter was playing shallow on Gonzo's blooper (I can still see that f***ing thing dropping. I don't think that vision will ever escape me).
  8. How can you argue with Torre leaving Petitte in the game? It was a game that was pretty much in the books as an L. Why use up other pitchers when you can save them for the decisive, more important game 7? He was right to just let Andy eat the innings rather than take a chance of waring out a few pitchers and not having them available the following night. Had Torre pulled Andy, and let the pen pitch those innings, and then have to pull Roger early in Game 7 and not have those pitchers ready, he would be criticized. Either way, it's a no-win for Joe.
  9. No surprise here. I wonder how their team shapes up for next year. The past few years they've been dependant on pitching, while lacking in offense (With the exception of 2004, perhaps). With the possibility of losing Pettitte and Clemens this year, seems like it might be the opposite this coming year. Plugging Lee into the middle of that lineup won't spark a complete turnaround, but it certainly will help.
  10. He's from Houston, isn't he? Certainly no hometown discount here.
  11. Although I think he is certainly capable, based on his performance out of the pen this past year, I think it would be best to leave him there.
  12. Getting Nick Johnson back would be awesome. I've always hoped we'd be able to bring him back to the Bronx. Brian Schneider would be great too. One of my favorite catchers.
  13. lol
  14. Perhaps I should start working on the 2006-2007 version sometime soon. Been REALLY busy lately, havent been here on talksox in a little while. Hopefully i'll have something started by the end of the week.
  15. The suspense is killing me. I'm shocked nothing has been leaked to a reliable source.
  16. Lol Yeah, probably should have stayed away from that statement. Can't say I completely disagree with you, but I can totally see that comment stirring up some controversy, for obvious reasons.
  17. When did I ever say the current system is A-Ok? NEVER. It has plenty of flaws. I just think it's ridiculous that YOU are complaining about it. TWENTY EIGHT other teams suffer more from it than you do. If they want to bitch about it, fine, I understand. You on the other hand, put a sock in it. Well what's wrong with a Yankee fan wanting to piss of a Sox fan? You guys do it all the time. You guys condone it, and ride us when we get upset about it. When Sox Fan in Tex makes his ridiculous threads in an attempt to piss off Yankee fans, you guys take it as a joke and insult us. Same when 700 says "Thuhhhhhhhh Yankees Lose!" after every Yankee loss. So how dare you call him pathetic for mentioning that you guys failed to finish better than the TORONTO BLUE JAYS, when you jerkoffs constantly do similar things to us. Aren't the Sox the second biggest contributor to the pool? Two of the three biggest contributors are about to be exempt, not all of the big contributors. Oh please, Lidle was not a big part of this trade at all. His contributions didn't make a "huge difference." Lets not get ridiculous. Are you serious? Both the Red Sox and Mets could have absorbed that salary. Just because they didn't want to doesn't mean they were incapable. The same could also be said from the opposite perspective. The Yankees, for the most part, didn't spend as freely as they do now until about 2002. Up through 2001 we were relatively reasonable. Granted, a few big acquisitions here and there (Mussina, Clemens, etc.), but it wasnt until 2002 when we started going crazy. Ironically, 2002 was the same year the Sox went out and spent big dollars on the likes of Manny Ramirez. It would be very difficult that way, but if it could get done it would be great. I disagree with the concept of the posting system. It's ridiculous for the reasons just listed. If an international player is a straight-up free agent, that's one thing, but something has to be done with this posting system. I understand that the Japanese teams want to get value for their stars before they bolt for the bigs the following year, but it needs to be modified somehow. Perhaps letting the player negotiate freely if he wants, and the Japanese team losing the player could receive the worth of 50% of his Major League contract or something along those lines. IDK what, but something needs to be done. As for an INternational draft, like I said it would be extremely difficult. I could see it working if it were the type of draft that players would have to declare for, like in the NBA and NFL and whatnot, but it definately wouldnt work if it were similar to the MLB First-year player draft. I could go on firever about why it wouldnt work, but i'll spare you all.
  18. Thats true. I mean, we certainly have the money to pay him, but if perhaps he goes down with an injury or something, thats an awful lot he'll be making. Whatever, it works out.
  19. Don't even bother. All that matters to them is that we spend significantly more than they do. They completely ignore the fact that they spend significantly more than a significant amount of the other teams. It's a lost cause with these people. Let them think they're poverty-stricken bums who work on a low budget; they're not fooling anyone.
  20. I'm not too familiar with the Bay Area, so I don't know how close Fremont is to Oakland. I wonder if the distance is far enough for this to be considered a relocation, resulting in a name change. I should look into it.........
  21. I dont like it. Too much $$ IMO. I don't mind the 2 years so much, although I would prefer 1 year with an option.
  22. I've always thought that was a good idea. But it would definately be a hassle to put together. If they were to play a series they obviously couldn't travel back and forth between games, so all the games would have to be helf in either Japan or America, and one team would complain about home field, etc. Just a boatload of things to address before putting something like that together. But I would definately love it.
