  1. I'm surprised that you guys are surprised. Roger's name has been thrown around a bit in the past few years. And in this instance, wasn't Grimsley accusing him of using HGH? Honestly, I hope to god he wasn't, but I wouldn't be shocked if he was. Same for Pettitte, as much as I hate saying that. None of the guys named yesterday would surprise me.
  2. Nobody's telling you to stop it, I just find it ironic how you're here complaining about us being obnoxious when your "signature post" is as obnoxious as it gets. You're absolutely right, I am guilty of those things. But there's a double standard here. As for 700 celebrating YAnkee losses; if us celebrating our Division championship gets you guys bent out of shape, how about not celebrating and rubbing things in our faces. It's as if it's ok for you guys to do it, but not us. Like i've said many times, the reason i'm even on this board is because there aren't any quality Yankee boards. So I dont get pset when i'm on a Yankee board, because I rarely visit them.
  3. Don't point any fingers at me. I didnt even acknowledge the division title until seeing how bent out of shape you guy got. I didnt say a word about it. You guys are just way too sensitive. Get over yourselves. We did no harm to anybody, but of course, you people have to make a big deal out of it, like you do everything else. And I dont care what team this site is devoted to, lets practice a little f***ing tolerance. It's ridiculous to do as much criticizing of the Yankees as you do, and not expect a response or anything. You think that just because we're on talksox and that we're subject to this treatment, that we have to be content with it. Let's get real here. If anybody here is obnoxious it's you, you come in this thread any opportunity you get to bash the Yankees or something. You have your "Thuuuhhhhhhhh Yankees Lose" after every loss. That pretty much defines obnoxious. Grow up you f***ing hypocrite.
  4. I made the thread because I had noticed that it wasnt mentioned anywhere. This news is like a week old. I didnt feel necessary to provide any links, but all the info is on milb.com if you want to confirm everything I mentioned.
  5. Since 1979 the AAA Affiliate of the New York Yankees has been the Columbus Clippers. In 2007, that will come to an end. The Yankees and Clippers have cut their ties and gone their seperate ways. The Yankees have signed a two year deal with the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Red Barons. Yankee fans have become very accustomed to seeing their stars come up through Columbus over the years. Mattingly, Jeter, Bernie, Rivera, etc. What I like about the Yankees affiliating with Scranton is the location. Scranton is a reasonable 2 and a half hours from my house, and I can have an opportunity to see Yankee farmhands play more often. I'll definately get to see Hughes pitch a bunch of times this year, unlike last year down in Trenton. I'm just curious if the Red Barons change their name, and color scheme. I'm not too huge on Red Barons, nor the red pinstripes. It'll also be interesting to see the changes that the Clippers make. I imagine they'll change their Yankee-like uniforms. Also, if anyone was wondering, the Clippers are now affiliated with the Washington Nationals. Taking the Nationals place in New Orleans is the Mets, ending their relationship with the Tidewater/Norfolk Tides. Now in Norfolk are the Baltimore Orioles, who were replaced in Ottawa by the Phillies. ..this is gonna take some getting used to.
  6. I couldnt imagine that sign not being there.
  7. Thanks Red. Like you, i'm really into this stuff. With how busy i've been lately with school and everything I havent come across these yet.
  8. We're celebrating our championship in the YAnkee thread. Granted, it is on a Sox board, but I think you guys are being a little ridiculous. How can you not expect us to acknowledge it. We can't make a positive point about the Yankees on this board without you or 700 using the "this is a Sox board" arguement. I mean seriously, let's practice a little tolerance. It's not like we're running al over the board, starting threads, and posting this stuff in the Red Sox forum section. Leave us be, this is the Yankee Thread where it should be ok for us to be proud and appreciate our accomplishments. hahaha, you want to talk about contributions of Baseball knowledge? ...i'm just gonna walk away from this one
  9. Wow, what the f*** crawled up your ass? We're not even allowed to celebrate a division title without you people taking it so personal you have to make personal insults? You want to talk about growing up, you may want to grow up a little bit, yourself. Roger Clemens' first year in New York was 1999. The Yankees won the World Series in 1999. Whoever wrote that needs to check up on facts before publishing something as ridiculous as that. I wasnt going to boast about a division title, but after seeing how bitchy you guys get, I have no Choice... 10. Amazing
  11. Now lt me chime in on my thoughts regarding the MVP award. As a Yankee fan, i'm obviously rooting for Jeter. This would be a huge accomplishment for him, and I think he deserves it. That being said, you can't go wrong with Papi or Dye either. When the Jeter MVP talk first started I was a little confused and thought ot myself "Jeter doesn't have a chance, it's all Papi this year." Obviously, my tune has changed a little, but like I said, either of the 3, and maybe even Morneau or Mauer would be respectable MVPs.
  12. W+EXACTLY. But we don't have to worry about that. Jeter isn't that type. He doesnt care. He'll let the award come to him in a quiet, classy manner. Well why do you think Ortiz deserves it more than Jeter? Let me guess, is it because Ortiz plays solid defense? Or how about his ability to move runners over via sac bunts, opposite field hits, and legging out ground balls? How about his baserunning ability? How about the fact that he defied odds and led his team, which was hit by a hurricaine of injuries, to the playoffs? ..i'm guessing it's none of those. Big Papi is a one dimensional player who can just hit Home Runs and drive runs in. Jeter can do everything, and do it well. Jeter's versatility as a player isn't credited enough. And lets not forget that Derek Jeter will be playing baseball next month, David Ortiz won't be because his team couldn't hold onto a season-long lead in front of a team that had 13 different players on the DL, including Matsui, Sheffield, Dotel, Cano, Mussina, etc. I know you guys can blame a lot on injuries as well, but we took the division lead before any of your significant injuries occured, so that arguement doesn't hold ground, sorry. So spare me. He sure does. I dont care what you guys say, Derek Jeter plays a very good defensive shortstop. I also think it's ridiculous. Mark Loretta, Wily Mo, Manny, Trot Nixon, Varitek, etc. arent bad players. The fact that they have underacheiving and injured players can't be an excuse because the Yankees have dealt with exactly the same and didn't complain about it. Nobody said baseball players had to be classy, but Ortiz has a classy reputation, so these statements could sort of protray him as a phony. Great Post Why does Jeter deserve criticism because he's a smart man who knows how to handle the media and knows exactly what to say? As for why he should or shouldnt make it to the hall of fame, your arguements and points are great ones, if you're talking about just any schmo. Jeter is a special player. He is a champion, clutch hitter, icon, role model, leader, and captain. There are things beyond stats that need to be taken into consideration. That's really relevant.
  13. I know i'm late on this topic, but I just wanted to chime in. Anyone laugh, yet enjoy seeing Bobby with his red glove out in the outfield. I was disappointed when he was using a brown glove during one game about a week ago. Havent seen it since, back to the red one ...the little things that amuse me.
  14. Personally, I wouldnt. I've been high on Melky for like 3 years. Since he was eligible to play in the states (I believe he signed before he was eligible to come play in the minors, so he had to play in the Dominican and whatnot) i've followed him. I defended him through everything last year into this year and now it's paying off for me. I would love nothing more than for him to become a mainstay and a staple in the Yankees outfield for YEARS to come. But I see where you're coming from. I'd probably feel the same way if I didnt personally like him as much as I do.
  15. Yeah. I watched that game, it was crazy. Agreed
  16. There was just a lot of unmistakable tension between the two. The entire trip they were on it was just back and forth, especially on the part of Leiter. It was made note of in the papers and on the radio. It's been a few weeks since they've worked together and everything seems fine. That's probably how it will work out. Matsui won't be traded. Melky will be the 4th OF, but I can see him getting 3-5 starts a week.
  17. Damn right! On another note, i'm surprised to see Leiter and Singleton doing this game together, especially after what happened last time they were on the same broadcast team. Haven't been any problems so far, which is cool.
  18. Good call. I agree. Well looks as if he's pretty much breaking out of the slump. Bloop singles and RBI grounders in the Tiger series to multi-Home Run games in the Twins series. Lets just hope he keeps it up. As for all this anti- A-Rod stuff, I dont get it. Sure, you can be annoyed with the fact that he hasn't been coming through and being the offensive weapon he is supposed to be. But clearly the guy has some issues. People claim that he's probably just a guy who can't handle the pressures of New York; a valid arguement. I, however, disagree. I thin k he can handle New York fine. What I think the problem is is that he can't handle the pressure he's put on himself. As we saw last year he can handle New York and be successful. We saw it over the season last year, and in little pieces both in 2004 and 2006. But the man has obviously just bombarded himself and put all of this weight on his own shoulders. He want's to make up for all the attention, positive or negative, that was given to him and the trade process between him going to Boston and New York. He want's to deliver. It was such a big issue that he was on a losing team and wanted to play for a winner that he tries to sprint in a marathon and can't hold up. I believe that as soon as the Yankees win a championship with him on the team that all of his struggles will disappear as he will have the peace of mind knowing that he played for a champion; regardless the role he plays in winning the championship, whether he carries the team on his back or sits back as somebody else carries the team. He will have shifted the weight from his shoulders to his ring finger.
  19. Anyone notice some of the ridiculous facial hair some of the Yankee players have/had going recently? Damon had that disgusting mustache a week back or so; as did Posada. Bruney's look's terrible and Giambi's also looks bad. What the hell is up with that? lol. just something that had crossed my mind. figured I would share. Inm other news, with the expanding rosters the Yankees called up Wil Nieves; who was on the opening day roster but got sent down before getting any action, T.J. Beam, and Jose Veras. Beam and Veras have been impressive in their most recent stints, so their additions will be certainly welcomed. As for Nieves, I am a Nieves fan, and am glad to see him on the roster. Another guy who I hope gets called up, but probably won't be, is Koyie Hill. He was on the roster on two different occasions and still hadn't gotten any action. Aside from him, I wouldn't mind Smalley coming back up if they can find the room on the 40 man roster with some of the 60 day DL guys possibly coming back.
  20. Nevermind. Just read the ESPN article claiming that they are in fact interested.
  21. I wonder if the Mets are one of those 7 teams.
