I'll take our position over yours....but whatever makes you feel better.....must be frustrating knowing you have a tough road to finish above 3rd next season....and for the forseeable future
In the end what may ruin him is the Yankees indecision on where to put him. Brian Cashman just mentioned today that Joba may start the 2009 season in the bullpen. They don't know if he should be a starter or a reliever because the truth is they need him to do both.
What really needs to happen is Joba needs to walk into the clubhouse and say he wants to pitch in the bullpen. There he won't have to be as closely monitored and would shorten a baseball game considerably with Rivera for the next couple seasons.
I'm a believer the team needs to make the playoffs to have a MVP candidate:
Prediction...
LA Angels: Vlad Guerrero
Boston: Dustin Pedroia
Chicago: Carlos Quentin
Tampa Bay: Carlos Pena
....3 of those players are considered cleanup sluggers and I'd have to give it to Carlos Quentin. Good luck trying to figure out between Quentin and Pedroia who deserves it. If Pedroia wins the Gold Glove and leads the AL in BA and hits then I'd have to give it to him.
I'm not sure if he is still considered a "prospect" but Clay Buchholz had a nice confidence booster tonight against New Hampshire:
