  1. Unless we could get Matt Holliday
  2. I can imagine it would be hard to get Atlanta and Philadelphia involved in a 3-team deal since they are in the same division.
  3. How do you figure? He is 2 years younger than Buchholz and over a year younger than Masterson. Bowden has three MLB caliber pitches and all with excellent command (possibly the best command of the 3). I'm torn which player I'd be willing to give up but my feelings would be the Rockies would ask for Bowden. If they wanted Buchholz over Bowden I wouldn't dismiss that request (same goes with Masterson). I'd be willing to give up 1 of the 3 to gain the services of one of the best hitters in the league and a couple years away from 30. You can't ask for a much better replacement for Manny and the pitcher we give up would be going to the NL West, can't get much further away than that.
  4. Might be heading in the right direction. Another player to add for the Rockies might be Brandon Moss as I recall hearing the Rox have tried on a few occassions to get him. Another team I'm sure that would be in contact with the Sox is the Cubs. Now that the Brewers and Cardinals are right on there tail.
  5. Yanks spent much more on A-Rod...that may be more of an ego than headcase but I put them in the same category. I believe the Mets and Phillies have inquired about Manny which I like having two teams in the NL East competing and possibly driving up the price. The problem is the trade deadline is only a few days away so if the Red Sox are going to do this they need to work fast, otherwise this could continue after the season. I'm not familiar with either the Mets or Phillies farm system but I'm sure there are pieces the Red Sox would be interested in. My guess is neither team would be interested in making a deal now unless they can sign Manny to an extension but with a few days left in the trade deadline and Scott Boras as his agent....good luck...however....if they pick up his option and then trade him that team would have him for the season then need to come up with an extension so perhaps there isn't a big difference. On one hand a team could have Manny for the 2009 season...or....a team in a current battle for 1st place could tip the scales with the addition. In my opinion nothing matters in talks with Manny Ramirez unless the Red Sox can get Matt Holliday. If they trade Manny in the next several days and don't replace him the season is shot.
  6. The Red Sox are sure to get phone calls about Manny Ramirez if Theo decides to look into moving him. If that is the case then they need to be fully focused on Matt Holliday. I don't want to give up Clay Buchholz or Justin Masterson but Jacoby Ellsbury might be of interest to Colorado. Matt Holliday could be a fixture in the outfield and it probably wouldn't be too long before Kalish, Reddick, and Lin move up the ranks and start knocking on the door.
  7. Looks like it's not Coke and Kontos but Karstens and McCutchen So to recap: Daniel McCutchen, Jeff Karstens, Jose Tabata and Ross Ohlendorf from the Yankees for Xavier Nady and Damaso Marte.
  8. You are one to talk, you cry more than any Yankee poster on this site. Mike Lowell would have to stand on the outside edge of the batters box to have a chance at that pitch...we are talking about 12 inches inside...not a couple
  9. Not to mention Crisp and Gardner are worse
  10. if Pedroia doesn't do something...Ortiz leads off the 9th...
  11. with the Yankees trading for Nady and Marte we can expect the Red Sox to trade for Holliday and Fuentes.....sorry I just want to sleep tonight
  12. Jason Varitek continues to kill the offense....Coco Crisp and Jacoby Ellsbury ready to finsh it off
  13. way to settle down Youkilis and suck it up....swinging immediately at 2 bad pitches out of the zone...offense is weak
  14. Ellsbury looks as bad as Varitek at the plate....Coco is right there with them
  15. We should trade Javier Lopez, Charlie Zink, and my used tissue for Jason Bay
  16. I'd rather have a pitcher at the plate than Jason Varitek right now
  17. I miss our offense...I really hate Manny right now...he doesnt want to play then trade him
  18. all that work with his fastball and he seems to have lost his changeup and curveball location...figures
  19. well I was pulling for Buchholz I thought he had some of the best stuff of any Red Sox pitcher but his control clearly sucks
  20. They might re-evaluate that after tonight the way things are looking
  21. Someone should punch Clay Buchholz in the stomach before each game...just so he gets that feeling out of the way before the 1st inning rather than after
