  1. Charlie Zink pitched another gem in AAA last night. I don't know how they do it cause I watch them pitch and I don't see a lot that impresses me. Bowden should be around the strike zone tonight so if the White Sox want to win they will need to be swinging. Hopefully he doesn't get judged too hard since he is facing one of the best offensive teams in Fenway Park and pulls Mark Buehrle on his first major league start.
  2. Disappointment 1. NY Yankees - too much money invested to not reach the playoffs 2. Cleveland - Cliff Lee should win Cy Young...so they have that to look forward to 3. Detroit - nice offense but they forgot pitching = winning Suprise 1. Tampa Bay - on paper you had to notice the great talent in the rotation but not results like this..wow 2. Minnesota - no Santana....no problem 3. San Francisco - go look at there lineup and explain to me how they aren't the worst team in baseball...I guess I have an idea (Tim Lincecum)
  3. Our top bullpen pitchers can't hold a 2 run lead....suck
  4. cannot walk him....sac fly for Giambi is too easy
  5. smart move to walk Matsui.....lets just hope Pudge doesn't snap out of it
  6. Gonna be tough with Gardner on the base
  7. looking back at the at-bat vs. A-Rod....Masterson did stay away from him. The pitch up and in wasn't close and there were a lot of sliders outside...A-Rod just sucks
  8. wow I thought that was crushed by Kotsay
  9. A-Rod was over matched in that at-bat vs. Masterson
  10. please dont walk the only lefty you will face
  11. I have to go with Masterson here with Jeter and A-Rod coming up...possibly Nady as well
  12. wow 3 pitchers in one inning....Girardi must think this game will be over quickly
  13. shoulda, coulda, woulda.....Okajima vs. Giambi wasn't a bad matchup but s*** happens. You knew the second Lester gave up a hit that would be his day, really needed to finish off Cody Ransom. Oh well need a big run....
  14. well that sucked....sometimes all the right matchups in the world can't save you
  15. Yeah I didnt realize Gambi would be coming in.
  16. Okajima to face Molina with Masterson ready in the pen???
  17. He was a disaster last season yet came back and has put himself together. A lot of people are worried about a "Craig Hansen" like break down but if thats the case then the team will go in a different direction and probably look to move him. I'm not worried about his psyche only his ability to hit corners with his fastball. First thing, does he get brought up when the Double-A season concludes? Second, does he have an innings limit he needs to stay under? Third, can he gain Francona's confidence (hard to do) in a short period where he can actually make a difference? A lot of questions with only 30 or so games left but I think he can be an excellent case for a secret weapon moving into crunch time. Papelbon, Oki, and Masterson have brought the bullpen up a notch from where it was a month ago but add one more stopper and we have a better looking bullpen than we did this time last season.
  18. What are the chances Daniel Bard can be a force for this bullpen in the last month? Hitters are batting .173 against him while he owns a 1.99 ERA at Double-A and has been lights out for some time now. I've only been able to watch him once but what I saw was a consistent 98-mph fastball and (what I considered) a above-average breaking ball. I like what Bard offers more than Pauley and Timlin. If Bard were to come up when rosters expand and gets off to a good start I can see him becoming a fixture. We have our big-3 in Papelbon, Okajima, and Masterson but I'd love to bring in another power arm.
  19. Not a fan of the trade. I liked what I saw from Sumoza in the futures game. The numbers were excellent in Lowell. I wonder what happens when Drew comes back....3 CFs fighting for the right to play...sounds like a cluster.
