  1. Per Roto: Whenever a player is on the verge of being the highest paid anything in baseball, the players association steps in and gives that guy a push. Nevermind whats in the best interest of the player. The ability to decide if you want to take a discount to be where you want and where you feel will be the most successful needs considering but the PA doesnt want to hear that.
  2. This is exactly what I thought about Phil Hughes when I saw him pitch against the Red Sox early this year: http://www.nypost.com/seven/10262008/sports/yankees/yanks_decision_looking_bad_135306.htm He has decent velocity (nothing amazing) with no movement. His changeup is a never-ending work in progress that isn't coming around and never dominated. His curveball can be good but its more of a "show me" pitch than one a hitter fears.
  3. It is a big risk for a small market team....it is not a risk for the Red Sox who have great depth should it not work out. I'd look into it.
  4. Better chance Casey Kelly will be the future SS
  5. Ortiz still has that look like he has no confidence
  6. Unfortunatly I feel as good about Ortiz right now as I do Varitek
  7. doubt he will say anything until after the game....weak
  8. Garza looked good tonight but the Red Sox offense s*** the bed
  9. 2 on with 1 out but here comes Kotsay, Varitek, and Cora
  10. Great inning.....NOW SOMEONE HIT THE DAMN BALL!!!
  11. I'd almost rather move some of those players for a legit catcher with a high ceiling (if there are any).
  12. Doesn't mean anything...just something I found on rotoworld
  13. Too expensive for the Red Sox. We would be giving the Padres one of the best base stealers in the league, there replacement at closer for Trevor Hoffman, and Buchholz would eventually own in Petco. Think about what Cla Meredith has become in San Diego and then remember he doesn't come close to the talent level of Bard or Buchholz. Jake Peavy is a good pitcher and I'd love to get him but I'd rather give up money for Sabathia, Sheets, or Burnett rather than young talent.
  14. The Red Sox should deffinitly look into the pitching market. Outside of needing a catcher the Red Sox don't have a lot of needs throughout the roster and they could expect more young impact players coming up through the system. I wouldn't say no to Sabathia but he may not be my first choice. Although I think he has logged a lot of innings and could be an injury risk it is a risk the Sox can afford with Buchholz and Bowden still knocking on the door should the need arise. I'd rather go after AJ Burnett.
  15. Clearly, you are a fine example how you go out of your way to a Red Sox forum and provide very little in the way of intelligent conversation....but I'm sure thats not extreme hatred toward Red Sox fans, we deffinitly hate you 100 times more
  16. You aren't a hardcore fan. Nothing stings more than a Yankees win or a Red Sox lose....you are trying to downplay the feeling of 2004 because it was the worst pain any Yankee fan ever felt (any real hardcore fan) and they still can't admit to it. They will crawl to the ends of the earth for any excuse or different moment to cover it up. I was there and I saw the whole thing, 2001 and 2003 hurt but 2004 changed everything for the Yankees and the true hardcore fans knew it....it seems you are still catching up
  17. I don't buy that for a second....I lived in NYC 1999 to 2006 and I know well what the scene was in NY after 2004 Just the fact you are bringing it up and trying to downplay 2004 means it hurt pretty bad...you are still going on about it
