  1. What can you say.....the Yanks like the Wang
  2. Apparently the Texas Rangers offered Soriano to the Yanks for Cano and WANG (lol I still giggle everytime I say that name)....and Brian Cashman in as many words said "no" thank god because Robinson Cano's potential is really not that high and Wang's name is Wang and I love the Yankees having a Wang on there team ....Wang
  3. yeah he could hit 20 wins especially with enough games at home. I'm just staying realistic in the fact Clement has pitched out of his mind and I'm wondering if he might come back to earth a little bit. I'm not saying he won't be effective I still have him down for almost as many wins in the 2nd half. If he has 20 wins by the end of the season he may have a Cy Young Award. I hope he gets a win tonight cause I'm sick of Ted Lilly kicking our ass
  4. 45 wins are accounted for and the Sox are in 1st place. How many wins will it take to win the division?? I predict 95 So from here out can we go 50-35?? 46 home games current (23-12) 2nd half prediction (30-16) 39 away games current (22-20) 2nd half prediction (21-18) Starting pitchers will get about 16 starts from here out (forget injuries for now) Clement currently (9-1) prediction (8-4) Wells currently (6-4) prediction (7-5) Wakefield currently (7-6) prediction (7-7) Miller currently (2-2) prediction (5-5) Schilling currently (1-2) prediction (9-3) Arroyo currently (6-4) added to the bullpen Bullpen currently (13-11) prediction (15-11) Most of those predictions look average BUT they should easily be within reach since we have so many home games. This is also barring a Dan Shaugnessy jinx!
  5. I still think they should fire the pitching staff ...going into the season did i not say that Brown and Wright would end up on the DL most of the season and Randy Johnson would start to act his age...especially since he switched to the AL East...I also mentioned Pavano was the 4th most talented starter on the Marlins and would get a rude awakening when he plays AL teams more often....i was wrong about one thing..... I said Randy Johnson would be on the DL at this point in the season at least once... Nothing wrong with the coaching staff NY...I have great respect for Joe Torre and his huge nose
  6. Playing 2nd base may not be rocket science but you need to have good range.....Millar might be close to having the worst range at 1st in the league...how would you expect....blah im just done lol. I think you underestimate the job Francona does though. You are almost helpless as a baseball coach sometimes. I'm not against him leaving Foulke in that game the other night because in order for this team to have success they need all the pieces working. You have to give Foulke his time to make the impact....it worked against him this time but its not like Francona has a huge choice.....once Foulke goes into the game with the lead...its his to lose. I would have done the same thing....lets remember too....if he got Embree up in time and put him in...i guarantee we lose the game anyways.
  7. Oh I agree completely...if I was a GM I wouldn't go near it which means the Yanks might have pissed off the wrong guy....lol oops. I mean Omar isn't stupid because why would he take the Yanks old crap and put it into his team which clearly should look to get younger since that is where most of the talent is with Reyes, Beltran, and Wright. I would still trade Cameron but not for an old man who has a steroid temper
  8. I might agree with you on that BUT.......he is an ace caliber pitcher.......tough choice.....an ace or a shut down closer.......not to mention he has the stamina to pitch two innings almost everytime he would go in. However I think you can find these guys without having to convert an ace.....look at Brad Lidge and Eric Gagne....then again you have guys like John Smoltz too....interesting idea at least
  9. It takes WADE MILLER almost 3 innings to finally get his head in the game...how do you think he would do in one inning with the game on the line....RETARD Francona just won a World Series for the Boston Red Sox....he is not going anywhere...RETARD Millar at 2nd base.....RETARD Payton and Nixon playing the same position in the outfield at the same time....RETARD ....who the hell are you and where do you come from?? I didn't know they still make people like you
  10. Foulke had an issue like this in Chicago where they couldn't have him close games anymore then moved him to Oakland. He has been able to get ahead of hitters but his location after that is off. His movement is at a minimum and his location is average at best overall. The only thing that has allowed him to get hitters out is there guessing on his pitch. BUT thats not very good odds when you only have 3 pitches really. Foulke must gain his movement back if he plans to be effective because he can't rely on heat.
  11. At this point I think the Yanks HAVE to move Sheff. If they don't they will have a pissed off outfielder on there hands for the rest of the season which ruins team chemistry more. I hope they do move him for Cameron becuase he can't hit. His batting average is always horrible so you go from a .300 hitter to a .230 hitter. LOL AWESOME. Quantrill and Stanton are going to get dumped. I see almost no way the Marlins would move Encarnacion for someone as useless and washed up as Quantrill. As far as Sheff to the Marlins for Burnett....thats just plain retarded by the Marlins if they did that. 39 year old outfielder won't last too long and if they want to make a push this year they would be better off with Burnett in the playoffs. Once Beckett gets healthy they would have Willis, Beckett, Burnett in the first three games. THEY HAVE TO BE AWARE OF THAT...right?
  12. Fine...release Vazquez or Embree....damn that was easy
  13. http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=050628/yankees
  14. Yeah he really does suck.....he's been under a 3.00 ERA the last several years....worthless in my opinion....Embree is by far better with his 8.00+ ERA.....why the hell would we want to waste a trade for Fat Eddie ....because he's better than everyone in our bullpen
  15. By the way I love how the Burnett discussion turned into the minor league discussion haha
  16. What about Pedroia?? He could come up and maybe get some at bats...then take Bellhorns spot lol
  17. CRAZY IDEA.... Arroyo as the closer???? Has a 1.20 ERA in the first inning he pitches, 1.64 ERA vs. leadoff batter....translation...he would pretty much always get the first out which puts the other team in a big hole when closing games. Plus....22 walks in 94 innings so far this year...anyone think this would work??
  18. Thats actually a hell of an idea
  19. After another great start by Wade Miller....anyone think our rotation is still ok?? Now I won't lie....I'm a huge AJ Burnett fan. Have been since I saw his no-hitter couple years ago. To be honest the guy has the makeup to be a dominate player on the Red Sox. I don't want to add him just to make a run....I want to sign him to a long term deal so he can be an ace on the Red Sox for years to come. Clement has done a great job coming in to Boston and BURNETT HAS BETTER STUFF THAN HIM. At his age I think it would almost be worth it to give up something.
  20. The biggest signing for the Sox this offseason is Damon.....I would hate to see Hanley at CF cause that means we lost Jesus. I don't care how much talent you want to talk about with Hanley....Damon is a better player. I think Hanley, Pedroia, and Youkilis should have a competition for 2B next year. No young player should just walk into a position. Although I think Youk will take over 3B or 1B at some point.
  21. I knew we were going to lose the game....with or without Bellhorn making that error. Thats just the way baseball goes. We blow them out at Cleveland with the same pitching matchup and they blow us out at fenway with the same pitching matchup...sports are fun like that. The reason we lost was because of Kevin Millwood....give him credit he pitched well. On that note I still think we win the series and go on another 6-7 game winning streak. We just need to get to the all star break with a 3 game lead in the division.
  22. You guys are crazy for not wanting Burnett. You need to understand that when we get Schilling back our bullpen gets better because one of the starters moves over. If you get another ace like Burnett...another player moves to the bullpen. THAT WAY YOU INCREASE YOUR BULLPEN STRENGTH AND STARTING ROTATION. Forget this crap about adding a reliever.....there are starters out there available who are more valuable. If we added Burnett or Schmidt to the rotation we have the best starters in the league. AND you can move Wake and/or Arroyo to the bullpen....how would you like to face Burnett (nasty mid-high 90s stuff) then get relieved by Wake (knuckle) and shut down by Foulke (changeup).....NO team could handle that
  23. Might as well put this thread out there.... I know a lot of rumors have hit about the potential of the Red Sox trading for Schmidt. First off, I like Schmidt and think he would fit in well (he has a little of that Red Sox look). I also think he's as good a pitcher as he's been the last couple years. He is ace caliber which would give us 2 aces when Schilling comes back. Put that together with Matt Clement, David Wells...and one of the other 3.....thats the best starting rotation in baseball. On top of all this....we need help in the bullpen BUT this may be what we need. It sounds like the Sox really want to put Bronson back in the bullpen....love him as a starter but I bet he would be dynamite coming out of the bullpen. Next you could put Wake in the pen too and have Miller as your 5th starter. Schilling Schmidt Clement Wells Miller Foulke Timlin Arroyo Wakefield (2.82 ERA vs. LHB) Myers ------------------- Mantei Embree Halama hmmmmm...looks pretty good to me
  24. What would you do with him?? It would be nice to have him take the place of Embee as our top lefty in the bullpen. After this season I don't know how long Wells can last at his age. He could take his place next season and until then be a great addition in the bullpen. I think playing with Varitek and our coaching along with our offense would make him a much better player. I like the move this would be a good one if we could somehow take him from Toronto. Not to mention he might be somewhat cheap since he is stuggling a little this season. If the Phillies can't get it done Wagner may be available later. Could you imagine a bullpen of Foulke, Wagner, Mantei, and Timlin......game over
