  1. Curt Schilling came out and said he wants to go back to the rotation. Who is our closer going to be now?? and we are still short a strong throwing lefty?? No timetable for Keith Foulke?? something must be getting close cause some more holes are about to be open. I think this would be a great time to see Arroyo put into the closer spot to see how he does. ...we need a couple more arms...Red Sox are the leading contender for AJ Burnett at this point...the time is starting to run down...something big is going to happen soon
  2. haha yeah thats for the info just check out http://www.prosportsdaily.com
  3. I'm going to give Mark Bellhorn a lot of props for what he has said since being on the DL. http://www.redsox.com has the story and quotes of what he mentioned... I like his attitude of trying to clear his head and get back on track. Those strikeouts and "boos" really built up and he needed to get away from everything. I still have hope for Mark Bellhorn and he plans to fight for his job. That means whoever is playing 2B is going to give it there all which is everything you could ask for. I always liked the idea of players fighting to stay alive on a team.....really shows who has the most character and can rise to the occassion, kinda like the playoffs last year when Bell and Damon went into a funk. Mark Bellhorn appears like he wants to do it and is ready for the challenge...now he just needs to get it done. As horrible as he's been this year, I would take Mark Bellhorn of 2004 over Tony Graffanino/Alex Cora anyday. ....I would love to see this attitude come from Keith Foulke as well
  4. ya know i actually like Bubba Crosby...he plays hard and its gotta be tough playing CF on team where you are just a fill in who makes no money. I hope he does play cause he deserves some credit...I never see him do anything to embarass himself
  5. seriously why would anyone want him...he doesnt cure anything for a team....i hope this is a "Peter Gammons talking outta his ass" moment
  6. heard that before...its 11pm...still no word and why would anyone especially Texas or Tampa Bay want Fat Ponson and his big contract....he stinks hello??
  7. I think Schilling was saying that to get the Red Sox more interested but he deffinitly does have electric stuff. For the last several years he has been the most talented on the Marlins (more than Beckett and Willis) but he can't seem to get over the hump. He deffinitly shows glimpses.....he is competitive with Ben Sheets, Mark Prior and certainly Jake Peavy who still shows some average pitches. but I think other young pitchers like Roy Oswalt, Johan Santana, and Roy Halladay are better
  8. wow yeah that would have been intense
  9. I was just curious, COMPLETELY off topic but.... what happened to that Josh Hamilton guy for Tampa Bay. I remember hearing a lot about him and he was supposed to be awesome.....there was a story about him a while back but I can't remeber what it was about??? he was in there farm system somewhere
  10. Sox would rather trade Miller than Arroyo The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reported that the Red Sox are more interested in trading pitcher Wade Miller and prospects to the Marlins in an AJ Burnett trade than Bronson Arroyo. The two major reasons cited by the report for the Sox' preference are Arroyo's affordability (he is making $1.85 million this season) and success against the Yankees. Miller, who had great success in the National League, has struggled in Boston this season. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/thebuzz/#sox I like Wade Miller and I think he will get back to form....but I would rather not wait for it and yeah I would rather have Arroyo. I hope Florida isn't asking for both cause technically the Sox could do it if Schilling is moving to the rotation soon.
  11. Yay another "Trades" thread....not only that...another "Griffey" thread
  12. Wade Miller's name has now been brought up in the AJ Burnett discussions.
  13. Several scouts have said and I quote "Hanley Ramirez has great talent and will be a better player than Aaron Hill of Toronto and Robinson Cano of New York." Sounds like something to hold onto. Look how good those two are doing. We have Edgar Renteria...but Hanley Ramirez will be better than him
  14. UPDATE ON THE TRADE...... There are a few problems with the teams involved on a personal level. The Minnesota Twins are a little annoyed they get burned in the deal last year and Florida is still annoyed about the Kevin Millar situation. On the other hand Minnesota is aware they need to make a move. Florida has the possibility of staying with what they have. There is still a good chance the Red Sox make a straight up trade with Minnesota..... Florida is extremely high on Bronson Arroyo based on the fact he is cheap and signed on through this year. I think Bronson Arroyo would be a better pitcher in Florida since the field is more forgiving but at the same time AJ Burnett would benefit from being at Fenway with Jason Varitek and an offense that can score him some runs (ala Matt Clement with a 95 MPH fastball). The potential issue with the teams is the only news from yesturday...nothing new has developed and there is a chance the deal could be dead. It will be interesting to see if Florida gives in with time winding down but you can expect Theo Epstein to at least aquire a left handed reliever
  15. Tonight against the lefty...Manny, Renteria, and Millar need to swing a good bat....they have struggled a little against LHP...mostly Manny....time to begin crushing LHP again buddy the way you always have
  16. Seriously, everything he writes is hilarious...more so for Sox fans obviously and i have that 12-DVD set haha
  17. http://www.prosportsdaily.com has all the information from local papers and crap but its only updated in the morning....its always pretty good stuff though
  18. I would too...but then we don't get anything for him
  19. I love Mueller too but you have to know at some point he will be gone....EVERYONE on the current Red Sox team will be gone. There is a good chance he is gone after this year. Mike Lowell may show up and you may fall in love wtih him cause I got news for you...the guy plays just as hard and is a leader....he was part of the there last World Series team. You need to ask yourself whats best for the team cause right now...we have one lefty in Mike Myers (Halam doesnt count). We have an average starting rotation. This trade fills all of our holes and gives us the best chance to go on a run and win this thing again. The team we have now could as well...i like our chances with the new players
  20. that thought just made me laugh so hard i couldnt breathe
  21. Thats fine I have not said I dont like Bill Mueller. I think Bill Mueller is an excellent player who brings a great attitude, works hard, and is everything you would want in a Red Sox player.... we should stop comparing Lowell to Mueller cause if Lowell came to Boston he would have to earn respect by playing with the same mentality Bill Mueller does and showing all of us he can play the way he used to....we cant get side tracked because this whole deal is mainly to bring JC Romero and AJ Burnett to Boston
  22. So would you consider Scott Rolen, Adrian Beltre, Carlos Beltran, Justin Morneau.....Mark Bellhorn....all on steroids? its a slump and everyone has them...like I was saying.... Mike Lowell is batting .280 since the all star break....he is heating up Sosa and Boone are 36 years old
  23. Alright now we all just need to get a hold of Theo and help him out haha.... With Embree gone, Mueller in his last year, the Marlins wanting to dump Lowell....something is going to happen
  24. by the way for everyones information.... Mike Lowell has been hitting between Encarnacion, Lo Duca, and Easley.... I think he would benefit having Nixon, Manny and Varitek hit around him instead
