  1. He can ask out all he wants...name one team that will take his 3 years salary remaining?? Just hit the ball Manny you ain't goin nowhere
  2. Whether Manny wanted to be traded or not it doesn't matter....no teams will pick up his money
  3. Yeah I was thinking more along the lines of 4 years from now....all those guys would still be in there 20s except for Youk who would be 30 I think....but its hard to see everyone sticking around that long....who knows
  4. They gotta start sometime....not all work out right away but some can really contribute. I would say Delcarmen has better stuff than Meredith though. From what I understand Meredith was brought up because of a funky delivery?? I'm not sure cause I never saw the guy but thats not a great reason to bring someone to the show. At least Delcarmen has the heat and good stats at AAA to give it a go. They probably want to see him before the deadline to help determine what moves to pull the trigger on.
  5. I must say....an infield composed of: 1B: Ryan Howard 2B: Dustin Pedroia SS: Hanley Ramirez 3B: Kevin Youkilis ...looks nice for the future....but i highly doubt it will end up like that
  6. You think Young can be an everyday 1B?? I hear his defense is a little average which is another reason I mentioned Overbay. Young being a switch-hitter is good though and that would give us V-tek, Mueller, Bellhorn, and Young as switch hitters....teams could never find the right pitching matchup
  7. Nah I was fine today....until I saw something being posted regarding a comment I made back in December.....you want me to go back and find dumb s*** you said in December and mention what you are wrong about???
  8. oh stop!....there have been a thousand conversation topics in the post. Its ok to go off target a little...especially when there is nothing new to report so back to AJ Burnett.....zzzzzz
  9. If we wanted to rank our pitchers by potential and who will be the best I would actually need to mention Wade Miller who has the best upside....Jason Varitek would agree with me on that and I've been saying it all along.....but you are right back to the real deal which is AJ Burnett Actually nothing new to report really just the waiting game....riverside you did mention Santana in a different post and I brought his name up too. You didn't happen to read about that somewhere did you?? The Sox did mention they were talking about another starting pitcher with Minnesota
  10. Yeah if he cured cancer I would worship Giambi....but I think there is a better chance of me becoming a Yankee fan before that were to happen
  11. I'm still really interested in Lyle Overbay....its been rumored he is available because they have some kid coming up behind him
  12. all along people have spoken too highly of Matt Clement. I had a post in the regular forum at the end of June...I predicted Clement would go 8-4 in the second half....everyone told me i was an idiot because at that point he was 9-1. Since then he is 1-2.....I'm not even sure he can make my prediction now...I'm such an idiot. The beginning of this post was discussions about AJ Burnett who would be a good replacement ace for when we lost Pedro. You still think Clement is an ace like so many others thought?? Maybe he is not getting "killed" depending on your deffinition.....but his ERA is going up quickly in the 2nd half just like it did last year. As for ahhchon.....he was right as well.....Bronson Arroyo has a lower ERA (4.26), costs less money, more versatile being in the bullpen or starter, and is younger than Matt Clement....I would take Bronson Arroyo over Matt Clement
  13. Was I wrong?? Matt Clement at Fenway Park = 4.36 ERA....not that amazing Overall ERA = 4.30 ERA....the ace of the Red Sox rotation? 10-3 record...thank god he has the Red Sox offense
  14. Yeah forget Clemens cause Houston is making the playoffs this year with a good starting 3 rotation and an awesome closer....they will make some noise but I agree something could be happening in the background For all we know he could be asking about Tim Hudson or Johan Santana...maybe talking to the Cubs about Zambrano or Prior (very very unlikely) but we will find out in 5 days
  15. I just have no respect for athletes who cheat to gain personal recognition. It's not that he is a Yankee...I have an issue with Yankee fans who applaud him because you are simply doing it cause he is helping your team. If he still sucked you wouldn't like him....I guarantee it and you would be against his steroid use and call him a loser. Its also not because I am a Red Sox fan...I have a problem with all who take steroids...if I found out David Ortiz took steroids....I would dismiss our World Series victory becasue it wasn't completely earned. Jason Giambi hit 2 HRs in game 7 of the ALCS against us....you think he deserved those HRs?? Do you think your team earned that victory?? You can say it has nothing to do with the fact he is a Yankee...deny it all you want...I certainly won't believe you and most others on this board will either...its just a cover up..kinda like Don Mattingly By the way has Jason Giambi done anything to regain his image?? Does he go around and tell kids that steroids are wrong and they shouldn't use them?? Just curious cause I haven't seen anything
  16. This is very true....however I think the Sox have done a better job of scouting the past couple years. They just need to determine which players are in there true future. There is a good chance only one of the two (Hanley & Pedroia) could be a fit on this team. Not all of the pitchers will make it to the show for Boston. You have Papelbon, Lester, Sanchez, Delcarmen, and now Hansen. You just gotta remember the Sox are always big contenders in free agency and will continue to add stars every now and then which means....not all of these guys make it...I don't mind trading them... the trick is to determine which ones
  17. No I didn't miss the point read closely...I said I'm cheering for him to come out of it....but you need to realize at some point Mark Bellhorn will leave Boston...you can't expect him to end his career here can you?? if you do you might be sadly disappointed. People will "boo" players..always have and always will. That is the only way to voice your opinion to them. Some players look at it as a challenge. Derek Jeter got his share of "boos" as did Jason Giambi (he still deserves to get those "boos"). They came out of it just as I hope Mark Bellhorn will. Everyone was "booing" Keith Foulke and he was a monster in the playoffs. What are you going to do go around and tell everyone in Boston to be nice?? Dream on this is baseball. Don't live in the past as so many Yankee fans do....prepare for the moment and let the players know when its time to turn it on. It is time for Mark Bellhorn to turn it on. Thanks for everything you did Mark but if you plan to lead us again you need to get your act together and the longer it takes you the more people will let you know your time is running out. I will always love the 2004 team but if you are not at your top this year....thanks and you will go down as a Boston legend for your heroics. That was Mark Bellhorn of 2004 and this is the Boston Red Sox of 2005....the fans are allowed to voice there opinion and will continue to do so. Don't act like a bunch of babies "don't boo poor Mark"....he is a big boy and can take it....lets see if he can embrace it and how he responds to it
  18. Good stuff but here is the thing...you cannot compare Derek Jeter to Mark Bellhorn (please!). Was Bellhorn big for us in the playoffs..YES!. He came out of slump to help us win a few games with big HRs. I've focused on Kevin Millar and Alan Embree most of the year but will always remember Embree for his game 7 fist pump. I will remember Millar as Millar obviously. I loved the team last year and what they all did....however.....this is not the team from last year Pedro, Roberts, Lowe, Meintkewicz, Reese, Leskanic, Cabrera, Embree...will all be remembered from that team along with the rest who are present.... There will be another hero, there will be more victories, the Boston Red Sox will move on with or without players and where Mark Bellhorn left off last season....someone new will crush one another day. I will still cheer for them and hope they come out of it and play well....im cheering for Pedro to win the Cy Young and if Arroyo was traded I would cheer for him to lead the Marlins or whoever. I hope Bellhorn snaps out of it again but if he doesn't....how long can you wait before you need to move along??
  19. I wouldn't have a problem with Wickman because a guy that age won't last long....the Guardians are a young team and I dont think they would require much....CERTAINLY not a top prospect...thats a bunch of crap.... The nice thing about adding Wickman is it would leave the Sox open to other trades. They would still have the resources to go after Romero, Burnett, Schmidt or others. They would still need a lefty to replace Embree but Wickman would only help. The guy can pitch and although he isn't stellar he is a good replacement until Foulke gets back....and if Foulke faulters....its an alternative....Wagner is too expensive and I dont think he will be available.
  20. Lets play Florida GM: Who would you rather have??? McCarthy and Marte OR Arroyo and Sanchez???
  21. Yankee fans will stand by him as long as he produces. They dont care how he does it as long as he does it. Yankee fans would have been just fine if A-Rod slapped that ball out of Arroyo's glove on verge of a comeback. Whatever they can do to win...cheating, buying, etc it doesn't matter in NY and you know this is true. I'm living in NYC and thats all everyone talks about..."Just win baby" Whether Giambi is on steroids or not I have NO respect for him. Cheating never deserves a second chance when you are considered a pro athlete. Its a privilage to play for the Yankees, Red Sox or any other team in the major leagues. You get payed to play baseball even if you are one of the worst players in the league and its still a lot of money compared to the average person. The fans pay their salary in the end and how dare the cheaters wreck the game for us. I watch a fair amount of Yankee games and no question...his body looks like it has more bulk. Don Mattingly is just a name in the Yankee organization (sounds like a good cover). He is a legend for the Yanks so why not add his name next to Giambi....looks a lot better. Barry Bonds has taken a very strange route in his return. It's sketchy so don't stand by players who are cheaters....they don't deserve anything because they didn't earn it.
  22. well we are going to know in about a week what our pitching staff will look like....damn this anticipation
  23. so then who will be the right handed hard throwing set up man?? See the Sox have something good going here with two situational pitchers in Myers (LHP) and Bradford (RHP). They had two hard throwing relievers in Timlin (RHP) and Embree (LHP). Embree is gone cause he sucks so now we need a replacement. JC Romero would be perfect. Having those four guys (2 situational righty and lefty and 2 hard throwing righty and lefty) gives you the perfect answer for innings 7-8. This team still would need a closer. I'm not saying Timlin can't do it I would just prefer having him as a dominate setup man for the closer. Arroyo, Schilling, and Foulke would be my choice for the closer role. Schilling wants to get back into the rotation and I think Arroyo would be better served as a long relief pitcher. I think he should take on the role until Foulke gets back then move to long relief after. Its possible to get away with these moves but there is cause for concern in Foulke and Arroyo. I would still expect a big move.
