For what's worth, Gom's sentiment does not represent the Yankee fans that really have respect for the sport. This doesn't vindicate what the Yankee players have done or may have done. This has nothing to do with the Yankees. This is about one of the best hitters in the history of the game failing a drug test. -

They're trying to get Veras out of his funk, because, internally, they probably so believe that he is going to be one of their key pieces to success later in the year. As for the situation tonight, he only gave up one run. Also, what who would you have preferred they go to?

No, you can't get by with just two reliable guys in the bullpen. So then one of those guys goes down with an injury, and that fact alone should tell you how valuable Bruney was to them. As for A-Rod, let me give you an example, just to further prove how important he is to the Yankees. They won 89 games last year. They were without A-Rod for 24 games last year. In those games the Yankees were 9-15. Not having A-Rod, even though it was only for 24 games, may very well have cost them a playoff berth.

They aren't playing well, but to say injuries haven't contributed is wrong. They are without their best player. One of the two guys who was pitching well out of the bullpen (outside of Rivera) is hurt. They have played a role.

The one steady part of this team (outside of a pitch to Jason Bay) gives it up. Not much is going well in Yankee land. Regardless of what happens here, it would be nice if Sabathia really shows up tomorrow and puts an end to this losing streak.

Now how do you keep the Rays from scoring with someone not named Mariano Rivera? EDIT: And they end up bring in Rivera. Now the question becomes whether he is available for two innings, unlike last night.

Joba has a reputation for throwing near opposing player's heads, so then why didn't he do that in this situation if he was indeed throwing at Bay?

This is probably going to come off as me just defending the Yankees, but I really don't think he intentionally threw at Bay. As immature as Joba sometimes comes off when he is on the mound, I don't think, in a close game, he would jeopardize the Yankees chances of winning. I've also reached this conclusion because there really isn't any motive in my opinion. He was angry at the umpire, not at any of the Red Sox hitters. I think his reputation is getting the best of him in this situation, but I think it's important to look at whether he had actual motive to intentionally throw at someone. EDIT: And as for the pole, I didn't vote because I don't agree with either of the options.
