  1. At the very least since he's returned to the Yankees.
  2. Mistake there by Pettitte. Would have been a DP. EDIT: Pettitte has been very fortunate. What's trouble is that the only times he succeeds this year, it always seems to very quite lucky.
  3. I think it just comes down to the fact that there are different ways to judge these kind of things. You can judge his production as a COF, or you can judge his production as a number one or two hitter.
  4. Shouldn't be giving away outs the way the offense is going so far this game.
  5. Jayson Werth, OF
  6. What did he do today that you have a problem with?
  7. Wow, the Yankees offense is really struggling, but Slowey has been pitching outstanding.
  8. Jered Weaver, SP
  9. Outstanding first inning for Slowey.
  10. Been to all of the current ones except National Park and Citi Field, along with Old Yankee Stadium, Shea Stadium, Veterans Stadium, RFK, Olympic Stadium, Cinergy, Jack Murphy (I think that's what the old Padre's was called), and Old Busch. I think that's it, but I might be forgetting one. Took awhile...
  11. It's not just using your guys in a different order. That's not the point at all. Parts of lineup, obviously, are stronger than others. Your best relief pitcher would have the best chance to get out the best part of the opposing teams lineup. One of your other relief pitchers has a better chance to get through a weaker part of the lineup.
  12. Two really nice plays up the middle today from Jeter, although the one earlier against Span where they got Punto at second was probably a bad call. Regardless, it's nice to see from Jeter.
  13. Damn, got what he was looking for and just missed it. EDIT: They really have nothing going well offensively.
  14. I would much rather Tomko than Aceves if there is an 11th.
  15. There have been numerous instances this year, in tie games at home, where Girardi has only pitched him one inning. He seems reluctant, probably considering it's early in the season and Rivera is coming off surgery, to pitch him two innings.
  16. This team just has so little offense right now. It's going to be tough to win this game, now that Rivera is probably done. He only threw 11 pitches, but I'm guessing Girardi doesn't go to him for a second inning. EDIT: I think it's Rivera. I wonder if he's only in for Morneau, or if they're going to let him pitch a full second inning.
  17. Doesn't make any sense to hit him so high in the order. It seems like it's been a long time since Swisher last got a hit. Now they have quite a dilemma here, considering I'm assuming that Girardi won't go to Rivera for more than an inning. If you go to him here, and you don't score in the 9th, then someone else has to face the heart to the order. If you don't go to him here, and Mauer and Morneau get up this inning, someone other than Rivera has to face them. It's Rivera. So now, if he holds them scoreless, unless the bottom of the order can scratch across a run in the 9th, someone besides Rivera is probably going to have to face Mauer and Morneau. EDIT: Disregard most of this, I forgot that Punto made the last out of the 8th.
  18. Honestly, just give it a rest. It's annoying that you respond to the majority of he comments with some sort of insult. I disagree with some of the things he says, but don't trick yourself into thinking that you're right all the time. Jacko takes the times to write these long posts about minor leaguers and whatnot. He is a positive contributor to this board, in my opinion.
  19. I hate the way this team is managed sometimes. The count is 2-0 against a pitcher who is tiring. EDIT: I FREAKING HATE JOE GIRARDI.
  20. The Yankees lost the lead today, in large part, because of how often closers are misused. The Twins had Mauer, Morneau, and Kubel coming up in the 8th inning. The game, in all likelihood, is going to be won or lost in this inning. Rivera should have been used to get these three outs, and then someone like Brett Tomko should be able to navigate through the bottom of the order. I understand that Bill James came up with the "Relief Ace" (IIRC), and it's so logical. I was curious as to what other people's opinions are about this.
  21. The Yankees have lost so many strikes today. EDIT: PLEASE USE BRETT TOMKO.
  22. This team is so bad defensively, especially in the outfield.
  23. Gom, lets be honest, you're frustrated the Yankees are losing. Don't just start bashing Jacko. You bashing him doesn't contribute to this board in any way whatsoever.
