  1. Really? EDIT: If you can actually find an example of that I would be stunned.
  2. That was horrible.
  3. One of was an inside the park home run and one was on the road. Doesn't seem to have anything to do with Yankee Stadium...
  4. Gardner ignored the sign to steal yesterday in the 9th inning, because he was afraid of getting picked off (according to what I heard on the postgame). That may very well have cost the Yankees the game.
  5. Look, I don't see what there is for us to be disagreeing about. His final line, in terms of ERs, leaves a lot to be desired. However, there are things about his outing that are very encouraging moving forward.
  6. He's the fourth match on a court where play starts at 5 AM EST.
  7. Ah, we're going to have this discussion again, I see. He is showing a lot of promise. The strikeouts are a good sign, as are the lack of walks. If we take a look at the first three runs, it's not like he got hit all around the ballpark. The double to Crowe was entirely his fault, but the single to Cabrera, which was the hit that really put Hughes in trouble, was lucky. It was a very good cutter, in on the hands, that Cabrera blooped into the outfield. After that I completely blame Hughes for losing Francisco, and then giving up the two run single to Peralta. They then scored the third run, mainly, because Hughes came a little too far inside to Choo on an 0-2 pitch. The HBP is on Hughes, but it's just unfortunate. As for the fourth run, that is due, completely, to Gardner misplaying the ball in center field. He threw the ball really well today. That is what I was talking about, but he is still making some mistakes. Again, it's encouraging that he seemed to throw the ball quite well today.
  8. I'm not going to go nearly as far as Jackson and say the umps cost the Yankees the game. However, the two calls that he's talking about were influential in the outcome. It's just frustrating. I don't see how you guys could have a problem with that attitude. As for the bunts, not many, but he's got the speed to do it. I don't think it's a great play, but you're making it out to be a terrible thing.
  9. Terrible decision by Girardi in my opinion. You have the top of the order coming up in the 10th. That is going to be your best chance to win the game, so you have got to find a way to get there. Once Cabrera bunted Crowe to second, you had the heart of the order coming up with a chance to win the game. Go to Rivera for the final two outs of the 9th, and then hope that the top of the order could produce a run in the top of the 10th.
  10. E1, I'm right there with you when it comes to the sacrifice bunts. However, some guys bunt for hits, and that is just their game. Gardner happens to be one of those guys.
  11. There is already an out. A ground ball to the right side would likely result in the second out.
  12. He was probably thinking that he could get the runner over to third with one out for one of the Yankees' best hitters.
  13. It wasn't a fake bunt at all. He was going to try to bunt for a hit, but the curve fooled him.
  14. I completely agree with that, especially with how bad Wang looked against DeRosa. I guess I was wrong about Wang. Glad he proved me wrong. Great pitch to finish off Shoppach.
  15. Have to take Wang out. He seems like a different pitcher after having sat through the all those pitching changes in the top half of the inning.
  16. Happy to see Pavano out of the game. Hopefully the Perez that has had a lot of success against the Yankees does not show up today.
  17. Great pitch on 3-2 to Posada.
  18. Ugh, Swisher gets ahead 2-1, and then swings at 2 pitches out of the strike zone.
  19. Wow, Pavano looks so good. I know he hasn't been great this year, but there is a reason so many teams wanted him when he was a free agent before the 2005 season.
  20. Great throw from Cervelli. Very encouraging stuff from Wang. They probably have him slated to pitch a couple more innings today. Hopefully he can keep it up.
  21. Big test here for Wang, as he finally pitches in a game where the outcome is up in the air.
