  1. Well, I don't think Papi will get hit. If he gets hit, Papi will know it's intentional. Especially from an ace pitcher like Randy. Randy can pitch strikes, and pitches don't really get away from him. However, if Papi got hit by Randy, it would be a bit too much of a coincidence that a pitch got away from him when Papi was up... Please. Randy thinks he's God when he's on the mound. And while he is impressive, I would bet anything that when Papi gets up, he prays he doesn't get charged by Ortiz. Ortiz would have the last word, and it would be a harsh one at that.
  2. I remember seeing a quote from someone, and I forget who it was. Perhaps it was ksushi, or CrespoBlows, but whoever it was, I credit this with. Think of it this way, you can trade Lester because D-Train is basically what the Sox hope Lester will be.
  3. Please, if someone hit Papi, Papi would know it was intentional, ESPECIALLY if it came from Randy Johnson. You don't want to irritate Papi, I remember when he dropped out of the way of a ball thrown at his head last year at Tampa, and Toby Hall was trying to hold him back. Papi didn't do anything, but the pitcher looked like he was pissing his pants. Besides, if Papi really went wild, Toby Hall had no chance. Randy would sprint to and jump over the CF fence if Papi went after him. Besides, you can't intimidate the man. You try to brush him back, he'll stand right back in there daring you to do it again. He's fearless.
  4. It's a big deal because Babe Ruth is the ultimate icon in baseball history. If you said to name a legend of baseball, it would be Babe Ruth. Some people don't even know that Hank Aaron actually holds the record. It's because he's about to pass Babe friggin' Ruth. That's why it's a big deal. I agree though, it shouldn't be. You celebrate new records, not passing former ones.
  5. Well, uh, the weather in Boston is really crummy. Raining like hell. How is it in the Bronx?
  6. See my picture in the gamethread for tonight.
  7. Same thing could be said about the Cavaliers. I just thought King James should get it because of what he's been able to do with that franchise. 3 years, and they go from NOTHING to obtaining a first round playoff series win. I know you can't look at the past, but this year is a result of what he, single-handedly, has been able to do over there. The kid's amazing, and obviously puts up amazing numbers, for only 21 years old. The Suns roster is still sexy if Nash doesn't play, and they would most likely still make the playoffs. The Cavs are absolutely nothing without LeBron. Same could be said for the Lakers, but Kobe's being Kobe. LeBron's just an absolute animal. EDIT: This isn't to say that I don't think Nash deserved it. Of course he did, he's a gamer in every sense of the word. He's unbelievable. But the fact that he won by a "landslide" sickens me. There is no way he was THAT much more dominant than Kobe and LeBron.
  8. I remember some people had some pretty decent expectations from them this year. They expected to have a pretty good year because of their developing pitching (the likes of Duke, Oliver Perez, etc) and some pretty decent bats too. Of course, they just always find a way to suck.
  9. What does that have to do with him with his asking price for trading away Zito...?
  10. Welcome back to New York Josh! http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/images/2003/10/26/kswxdqbc.jpg http://um-jmh.org/images/residency/Marlins.jpg http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/pic/adc/10127551A~Josh-Beckett-2003-World-Series-MVP-Posters.jpg And oh yeah, who's your Papi? http://i3.tinypic.com/xgbf5d.jpg I was bored, got some of those from SoSH.
  11. Put this in befor Randy Johnson's number... http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/mlb/images/team_logos/50x50/nyy.gif And DAMN, get a bigger picture of Randy http://i.a.cnn.net/si/images/baseball/mlb/players/4288.jpg
  12. Well, yes, but I thought we were talking about acquiring arms at the trade deadline. Which, in this case, would end up with us losing those arms that I stated. But if we're talking about via free agency, then yeah, sure. Just don't bank on the Sox getting him with teams like the Yankees out there, mixed in with a developing John Lester, who's fastball is already dominant to Zito's.
  13. No, you just got blasted here relentlessly and made a thread that said you were sorry and wanted to start over And what's this crap about YOU being on top of the division, Riv? As long as the MLB standings say -- GB for the Boston Red Sox, you aren't on top of s***. I don't care if YOU go by the loss column, because it has no relevance whatsoever to the real MLB standings. It's a tie for first place. End of story.
  14. You hope he's out for the season? You're such a tool.
  15. :what: I wanna know what kind of crack your smoking.
  16. I gotta hope for a sweep....in the Bronx...to win the wins category. Ouch.

  18. I remember you, and you were one of those Yankee fans that was pretty intelligent if I say so myself. Glad to have ya back
  19. Well, they can be in the same boat, just not disappointing.
  20. Well, you must admit, Wily Mo has been doing a damn good job filling in. Besides, I don't think 2 bad games suggests that Beckett has disappointed. He had a 2.54 ERA through 4 starts, then his ERA exploded from 2 bad games. I don't call it disappointment, he kept his ERA down aganist great lineups from Toronto twice, Texas, and a less-than-great Seattle team. I'm not saynig this is a great sample size, but I'm saying that 4 of his 6 starts were great. He had 2 bad starts, he hasn't disappointed.
  21. I hope you know that if Zito is in your rotation, you can kiss Hansen, Delcarmen, Papelbon, or Lester (at the least, 2 of them) good-bye. You're dealing with Billy Beane here.
  22. Yes, because beating Beckett in the regular season will make the pain of 2003 go away for SURE, right? Beckett can still laugh at you even if you kill him in the regular season.
