I didn't think they would win the Super Bowl with TO, now it's just a question of whether they will get to the Super Bowl. Seeing how weak the NFC is, I think they will, but I don't think they will beat the Pats or Steelers.

The C may have only been there for the press conference. Jeter is a captain and he doesn't have one on his jersey. The only captains I know that have C on their jersey are Sosa and Sweeney, but I'm not sure if Sosa's a captain anymore.

As a Jew, I really don't find it too offensive, it doesn't really matter to me either way.

I agree that it is a little high, but if Theo keeps pulling out these bargain deals for players then we won't have too many overpaid players, and I think that we need to overpay for the players that we most need. It's not just Varitek's hitting. It's the whole package. The leadership, the defense, how he helps the pitching staff, overall knowledge of the game. The play that most sticks out to me was in Game 3 of the 2003 ALDS, when Byrnes didn't touch the plate, and how Varitek was immediately alert and got the ball and tagged. These are the things that makes Varitek worth re-signing.

No he's got plenty of Yankee fans that he talks to. I'm surprised he was nice enough to conceal the misguided soul's identity. On a side note the YES network site is a riot right now. There is a universal hatred of Javier Vazquez right now because Newsday said that the main reason the Dodgers pulled out is because Vazquez refused to take a physical.

What Championship Would You Rather Have?

I've seen the Pats win and I've seen the Sox win. There is nothing quite like seeing one of your favorite teams winning their first championship in your lifetime. Out of those listed the only other team I root for is the Bruins, it would also be nice for them to finally get some recognition in this town. So I picked the Bruins. -
I think Payton will play against lefties and I haven't really heard anything about him complaining about playing time ever. Another plus about Payton he went to Georgia Tech and I believe he played with Varitek so that could help bring Tek back.

I'm just surprised we got all that in return for Dave Roberts. He was going to get traded anyway, he wanted to become a regular and the Red Sox granted him that opportunity.

I know that but I want to see the link where it says the 3 teams have sent the trade papers to Selig.

I haven't seen anywhere that says that they've handed the papers to Selig yet. In fact on MLB.com it says that the Dodgers are still pondering the trade until they sign a couple guys to fill the gaps that they would have traded.

I can't see the Red Sox letting Varitek go, I think they will have to overpay slightly, but in the end they will end up re-signing him.

I read that Sheets actually isn't a free agent until 2006. They want to try to get a one year deal with him now and sign him to an extension in the spring.

I still think Beltran is better, Beltran does everything that Edmonds does, plus you add the speed factor into the equation.

I don't think he deserves that type of money, but for everything he does I think he is the best centerfielder in the game.

I'd still rather have Manny, I'm not real convinced on Beltre. He suddenly breaks out and has a monster season, but coincidentally it is the season that he is playing for a contract. I wouldn't want to give Beltre a long term agreement at the money he has until he proves he can hit like that consistently. Plus I'm satisfied with Mueller at 3rd.
