  1. A least this wasn’t a “you got your ass kicked “ type of loss.
  2. They’ll probably intentionally walk Papi.
  3. They did show the stat that Kapler had been 3 for 3 against Shields, until tonight. But I see no real use for Kapler on this team now, given the direction it’s going.
  4. It’s weird for me to watch this game with a different frame of mind. I mean that I’m no longer looking at games played as part of a playoff race. Rather it’s just plugging away to finish the season and hoping to see some new faces showcased. It’s been a while since I’ve felt this way about the Sox in late August.
  5. I can’t wait to get a good look at Pedroia and I’m glad that he’ll be profiled into the SS position. Maybe this earlier than expected callup will give the FO some clue which direction they’ll want to pursue into the off season. That is whether to pursue Gonzo or Lugo?, or Loretta. If anything I’m hoping he’ll add some life to a lethargic offense. The whole hype of Pedroia kind of reminds me of the talk that led to Nomar coming up to the big leagues.
  6. I have never really been impressed with Wallace. It seems that pitchers coming into the Sox organization rarely improve. Whether it’s the mental approach or even more mechanics, where is the evidence that his tutelage has been effective? And when it comes to game strategies worked out with Tito I think he often times falls short in this evaluation. As much as Joe Kerrigan was disliked I always thought he was able to bring out the best in his pitchers. Even veterans who had been discarded by other teams seemed to find new life under his guidance.
  7. With Krapler hitting behind Ortiz my dog could have guessed that.
  8. Where did you hear that Hansen left “steaming”?
  9. You want to make all of these moves now? To begin with Hansen was demoted to AAA today. Are you serious?
  10. Youk out of the lineup due to the injury to his hand from last night, per EEI.
  11. A bit OT, but with the luxury tax and revenue sharing, does anyone know what the Yankees will be paying out over the next few years? I heard a snippet on the radio that it will be close to $100M over the next few years, with the rate that it’s increasing. Is this true?
  12. Too bad it worked out that Breslow got sent back on Friday because I’d much rather see him recalled over Javier Lopez. Would it be too transparent if JVB developed some “illness” that required a 15 day stint on the DL which would allow a quicker recall for Breslow?
  13. The kid in the stands who threw the ball back looks like he has a good arm. Can the Sox sign him?
  14. You know something’s wrong when JVB and Tavarez yesterday have been the most effective pitchers.
  15. Anyone know Beckett’s record since he was given the contract extension?
  16. Beckett gives up his 8th walk. Thanks for stepping it up.
  17. Well I guess that could have been a lot worse, but Jeezuz can the Sox ever hold a lead anymore?
  18. Nice hit WMP to put the Sox ahead.
  19. Manny! Thanks for making it a game.
