  1. Oh, and happy birthday GrassInZimsteeth, by the way.
  2. I don't think Tek saying that is Tek being objective, nor do I think it has to do with the "Boras Brotherhood" conspiracy, as you see it. . It's just that, what kind of catcher would go out and say "Yea, Lowe sucks. He's lost it. There's no way in hell that he's coming back."? You stick with your pitchers no matter what. I mean, most of the players on the team didnt blame Grady Little when the Game 7 implosion happened. How can you expect them to lay the blame on each other?
  3. I don't think he's anywhere near as bad as he has been playing recently. He's gone LOB crazy in the past few games, thats for sure. But we stole this guy from Japan for a reason. He's not a bad player at all. He can be productive in the 5 or 7 spot on this team as of right now. When we get back to full strength (if ever, ugh, damn injuries), it'll do well to have him hit near the bottom of the lineup. But the guy has a .288 career batting average, which you can't do unless you're a somewhat decent batter. He may be a big overrated, this is true, but he isn't completely blown out of proportion.
  4. Lowe's pitching. That is bad. We need 10 runs for me to feel remotely safe. Hopefully he'll go 6 decently and be able to pass it off to our bullpen. Damn, it feels like I haven't posted here in a long time.
  5. so much for the lead I guess.
  6. This bears mentioning as well. Nothing would give Georgie over there a bigger scare than having the Sox out bid HIM on a big ticket player. The look on his face (his dead face after succumbing to a heart attack) would be priceless!

    The lull

Ever since the Bruins flat out died and the Celtics got killed, the sox are the only show in town. The lull continues until football season come next fall. I can't complain though, not being that big of a basketball/hockey/football fan. I like turning on ESPN and only seeing baseball (for the most part). So, I'm not sure what the point of this was, but um....... heres to a good rest of the season!
  8. Forgetting the number of outs in the innings, although boneheaded and stupid, is most likely not from a lack of communication. If you can't count to 3 I doubt your listening skills are up to par either. The infield chatter that I miss is the "come ooooooon Pokey" or whatever player you want to fill in. Hearing Damon shout "two outs!" with two fingers in the air isn't really my idea of infield (or outfield) chatter. It's just updating those who don't know how many outs there are. It's kind of ironic that I chose Damon there though, since he's the one that forgets the most often.
  9. Luckily they were playing the braves, so I could turn on TBS and watch this first hand. What an amazing performance. I've never seen a perfect game before, and I've never seen a pitcher look that dominant. You could tell that the betters just expected to be out as they walked to the plate.
  10. Not much is happening in the game. Boring, but in a good way I guess.
  11. Reading that thing on Casey Fossum reminds me of his ridiculously breaking curveball. That thing was crazy. I have to check him out now to see if he's improved. I always liked that guy.
  12. He always does. 2 doubles in a game in 2 at bats is impressive though, I'll give him that. And listening to these TB fans is weird. Its dead silence punctuated by a scream or too. Scary.
  13. Damn, Mueller is starting. I was hoping we'd get another look at Youkillis. He's impressive. Soon enough I guess, soon enough.
  14. I've also been hearing rumors that the yankees are making a run for Beltran. Is there any validity to this or is it just yankee fans being yankee fans? I see no reason for them to be going after year ANOTHER superstar other than to spite the sox. But if the mfy got him, imagine how much that would suck.
  15. Plus, as an added bonus Wake has never lost at the Trop, going 3-0 with a 1.67 ERA in 43 innings. I wonder what it is about domes that makes his knuckler so effective. Or maybe it's just because the Devil Ray's hitting sucks.
  16. He's much more cut out to be a starter than he is to be a closer. His mentality just isnt befitting of a reliever, kind of like our friend Derek Lowe. I stick by my guns that he'll be a good starter in the next few years. The sox hanging on to him until then is a different story, but you never know.
  17. Some good news from Benmaller.com: We don't have to deal with him anymore, for those of you who hate him. I'd MUCH rather see Pedro resigned than Lowe. Pedro's worth the 5 mil more, even at the rate he's pitching now. He's only going to improve as the season progresses I bet.
  18. Yup, it's been mentioned and its a valid argument. Even if we blatantly ignore B-tran at the end of the season, and let him walk (if we were to get him that is), we'd still have another hole to fill in centerfield. That isn't good. We have holes all over the place, and adding another one at this point seems stupid. It's not as if our offense is struggling mightily at full force, no, we don't have two of our best hitters out there. We're making do, and I don't think we need to get a future Micky Mantle to save this team.
  19. Damn, and I had him on my bench on my fantasy team. He was the first to get 18 since RJ got 20 in 2001. He also set the team record for K's, and the last time someone struck out 18 Braves was in 1990. That someone was our very own Pedro Martinez.
  20. He's certainly toned it down since then hasn't he? I knew it wouldn't last too long.
  21. Right. You can't make a decision on what he's done in the past. You can look at how he's playing now (which is crappily) and decide. Big deal if he led all NL second baseman in fielding percentage two years ago, this year he isn't fantastic defensively. He leads the team in errors. You can't go and say he isnt a weakness when he already has 7 errors to his credit.
  22. What's interesting is that the sox managed to lose their two aces' starts, and still split the 4 game series. Goes to show how well our pitching is performing now I guess. It's good when our 4 and 5 guys give us as good a chance as any to win. I figured I'd look on the bright side at least, ya know?
  23. He's still got a 1 hitter going. What he's doing at his age is unheard of. He's only gotten better. I've never seen him pitch like this in his entire career, not even during the cy young years. I wonder what it is that is making such an impact on him? Is it being closer to home? Who knew that seeing your family more often could improve your game so drastically.
