  1. Wow, 10 years is a long time in baseball when you think about it. If he stays, do you think he'd have his number retired? The sox have no retired pitcher's number up there, and I'm not sure if Pedro meets all of the requirements necessary to go up there. Don't you have to contribute to the community and things like that?
  2. They definitely will. Maybe not on par with the Williams one, since he was a national star, but something nice nonetheless. Like Roy just said, hes been involved with the team for over 50 years (I think its closer to 60), and to not honor him would be injust.
  3. Lol, ANYWAY, back to the sox players..... That was a good little tangent now wasnt it.
  4. No. Never. Survivor is the root of all evils. I got 029373 ims from people asking me to vote for people. You want survivor, stick to netsports, please. In fact, I hate it so much I'm locking this. Sorry. Maybe later if more people want it.
  5. I think the reason they dont take phonecalls anymore is the simple fact that most of them were stupid as all hell. The typical call was like this: BR: Hello, you're on the air Caller: Hi Bob, I love your show and you have great hair BR: Thanks, whats your question? Caller: Umm, yea, nice hair, and, what um, do you think about Manny, is he good or not? BR: Manny is the best hitter on the team Caller: But what about is OTS BR: His what? Caller: Damon too BR: Allll right, thanks for the call! I cant stand listening to people who have no idea what they're talking about try to argue baseball. It annoys me.
  6. Haha, Duffy Lewis. You must like sox history and fielding then.
  7. Pedro has bad luck in the 8th. Remember?
  8. I doubt he'll do it. Why make him go all the way if he doesnt have to? Unneeded strain on his arm.
  9. Lol, you really hate that alex guy don't you?
  10. Not necessarily with Sabathia pitching, but with the sox hitting. Ugh. No hit wonders! But as the violent delivery thing shows, pedro needs to be aggressive, no matter what his velocity, to get hitters out.
  11. DuffyCliff, I'd say that Pedo is INarguably the best pitcher the sox have ever had. Other than that, I agree 200% with your post.
  12. welcome to the site conig. If you're a mets fan, and you arent already a member, check out noah's board at http://www.nymfans.com.
  13. K's are really a useless stat, first of all. There have been great pitchers that never got strikeouts. It's a show stat mostly and it doesnt always translate into greatness. Anyway, I think Manny is more valuable because of something that you brought up in a previous thread. Manny plays 9 innings, 162 (theoretically) games a year, Pedro plays 7 every 5 days. Manny consistently produces, Pedro gives his team a shot to win once a week. Manny does that all the time. But that doesn't mean hitters are infinitely more valuable than pitchers. You need quality pitchers to win. A great hitter, in my mind, is more valuable than a great pitcher, but a good pitcher is better than a good hitter. If that makes any sense.
  14. FINALLY, someone else who sees Nixon as overrated. Grassinzimsteeth, I salute you!
  15. Uh-oh. My hypocrisy meter is going off the chart here. WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP: How many pennants have the sox won?
  16. RoyNHsox, every time I see your avatar I crack up. What the hell is that. Whatever it is, Einstein sticking out his tongue?, its funny.
  17. He just passed Carlton for second place on the all-time K list tonight. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1796162 Impressive stuff, but he wont ever catch up with Nolan.
  18. I understand the payroll thing, that makes sense, but you'd rather have Mark Ellis and Luis Rivas on your team than Todd Walker?
  19. But I still think Todd Walker was underrated beacuse of that limited range. Everyone jumped on him for it, but he had a higher fielding percentage than Reese did last year, and his offense more than made up for it (I'd say it made up for it ten fold). He carried the team through the playoffs, remember that? But I guess the Todd Walker argument is for another thread. Sox lead 9-5.
  20. But he'd cost soooooooooo much money. 15 mil a year easy, he's that type of player. I don't know if the sox want to sink all of their FA money into one player in an outfield that is already pretty good. Trading Damon might help, but still, we lose Damon and we could lose Beltran at the end of the season, and then we're super screwed.
  21. Ahhhh, Kip Wells. He's another fantasy team destoyer. I almost didnt win my league last year because of a couple of his crappy starts.
  22. Amen to this. I've been saying this since last year, but the only response I get is "WALKERS D SUCKS", mostly from people who had never made a note of his D. He wasnt bad at defense, he just wansnt extremely agile and didnt have too much range. But he made the plays that counted.
  23. Ouch. Sloppy baseball by the Red Sox. Kim throws one away and now Bellhorn lets one get through. Thats no hits in this inning by the tribe, and they've scored a run 5-4 sox.
