So I looked up Schilling's performances in his career when he is over 100 pithches. (I know this isnt related to today's game but, whatever)
When he gets really up there (136+ pitches, which may sometimes be required in a CG), his ERA has ballooned up to 8. I'd like to think that when Francona left him in too long, the whole "grady re-visited" thing, he was trying to teach him a lesson about wanting to pitch so much. In any case, he'll think about it a lot more closely after he gave up the lead.
