From observation perspective only, Jedixson needs to physically mature and probably work on his craft for 2 more MiLB seasons . 

 At 22 and about 170lbs, he has time to grow into a pitcher with stuff somewhat like Ranger Suarez who will still be around to help him mature.

It seemed HOU knew Duran was too much of a gamble.

I', kinda glad we got Durbin (and Suarez) over Breggie, but I suppose we could have gotten Durbin (3B) & Paredes (2B/1B/DH.)

That might be exactly how his career pans out, but again - thats a lot to glean from one start.   If Roger Clemens got judged with “hopefully we never see him pitch again” after his first handful of starts (35.1 IP, 7.13ERA, 1.83WHIP), the Sox might have given up a tad prematurely on one of the best pitchers of the past, heck, how many years can I go back here?  One of the best ever…

It’s amazing how much starting pitching the Red Sox still have considering how much pitching they’ve traded away.

Crochet, Suárez, Gray, Tolle, Bennett, Bello, Sandoval, Crawford, Houck and Oviedo are all still in the organization — plus younger depth like Eduardo Rivera and Jedixson Paez.

And look at what Breslow has been able to turn excess pitching into: Connelly Early brought back Curtis Mead; Kyle Harrison and Shane Drohan were part of the deal that brought back Caleb Durbin, Andruw Monasterio and Anthony Seigler; Richard Fitts and Brandon Clarke helped bring in Sonny Gray; and Hunter Dobbins was the key piece in the Willson Contreras deal.

That doesn’t even include some of the younger pitching prospects they’ve dealt in other trades.

Breslow obviously has an excellent eye for pitching, and the Red Sox have become one of the very best organizations in baseball at drafting, acquiring and developing arms. Milwaukee may be the only organization I’d put in the same category.

Nice post. I'd add 2 major pitching trades not mentioned....

Perhaps the most long-lasting good pitching trade was Perales for Bennett.

Perhaps the worst was trading Sale for Grissom and minor salary relief.

It's also interesting how he trade for then traded away Harrison, Priester & Fajardo. He's also traded away a numerous amount of his own drafted pitchers, including Eyanson, Witherspoon, Clarke, Aita, Hansen & Galle. He included an IFA pitchers in a trade, too: Travieso.

He traded Uberstine, this summer, who he inherited from Bloom.

The amount of pitcher turnover within the Sox system has been astounding. All in less than 3 full seasons!

I have to admit, I kinda chuckled looking at this depth. AA had Wikelman, Dobbins, Hoppe, Bastardo, Troye & Olds.

I would just say that once Eyanson was traded away and Tolle was added to the BOS roster, the rest of the pitchers drafted in Breslow's era haven't really done anything exciting. Maybe Dylan Brown, but he's not at the level of those kind of guys.
