Meanwhile back on the mound. Bello is delivering much like Gio did. A. couple baserunners but tough with 2 outs.

This is much better pitching

Giolito stunk and was hit hard his first three innings.  He was very lucky to only give up 1 run.  Bello has been excellent in his first 3 innings.

Gio's run results were excellent which in a 2-1 game is the only fact that mattered. The BP was exceptional too saving Gio's stench laden effort

Believe it or not, I would like to see the Sox hit a bunch more flyouts today.  Why?  Because I don't want another 14-1 eruption that then leads to lousy hitting tomorrow.

Actually, I did predict 18 runs today on last night's GT.

Gracious, do I love having Anthony leading off. How about the 114 mph sine in his first at-bat?

He has the highest OBP on the team.  What helps him is that he usually has a good eye--strikes vs balls--plus he makes pretty good contact when he hits the ball.  When he swings and misses, he's just like everybody else.

Great replay of that nab by Wong near the netting.

Fair enough,  I did think he pitched an excellent game overall, which is why Cora brought him out for the 7th.

Marlins' pitcher is the son of Paul Quantrill, who was at one time in the Sox organization. Paul is also known as the Yankem pitcher who gave up the game winning homer to Ortiz in game 4 of the 2004 ALCS.

Maybe Cal doesn't like the Sox because of the way they treated his father.

Bello has become a pitcher , not a thrower  If this transition is for real and sustainable he starts looking like a good #2/3 going forward. Also highly effective  using only about 11 pitches/inning

Also, why the heck does Cora insist on a 3d catcher?

Narvaez was banged up and overused. I think the 3rd catcher is just temporary.

11 pitches per IP is ace territory.  6 x 15 = 90 pitches for a quality start and the possibility of pitching a 7th inning.  In his last 2 starts Bello averaged 18 pitches per IP.  In his complete game it was 12.

We all understood why from the get go.  Why is he still there if he can be sent to Worcester and be available on one day's notice or even the same day?

C'mon Bello. get an out or you may get Capn Hook

Pull Bello now so he can keep his confidence.

Wilson will get tagged though
