Narvaez , of all Sox, should have benefitted from a few days off but he looks tired leg catcher material right now

Might be the worst base running play of the season and that saying something

Cubs announcers said it was good defense by the Cubs instead of a boneheaded play by Toro.

Narvaez partially redeemed Toro by hitting a perfect GIDP ball with 2 outs.  Had Toro stayed at 2b, the inning would have ended with a GIDP.

Bad baserunning had to enter the picture.

Sox are sort of touching "all the bases" today with mistakes, not being ready for first inning, always LOBs, needing 2  out hits , etc.

Gio is holding the fort but the hitters needs to get over their Dia-Rea

Of course they would.

I believe the hitters are constipated.

Sox are 1/4 RISP, which is not great, but not egregious.

I'm going to say it.  I think today Wong would have done better than Narvaez.  That does not mean I would have started Wong because Narvaez is the main man behind the plate.

But I say it for 2 reasons.  First, of course, no catcher interference.  Second is that Wong would have batted 8th or 9th and done less harm than Narvaez batting 4th.

Giolito just saved Narvaez's miserable ass!

Narvaez better watch out or he'll get Wonged up side the head .  To bad Connor  would miss him with his bat

Of course, Wong set the story for his season breaking his pinky on an interference play

On the other hand, you can make another argument that Wong could not have prevented the 3 runs in the 1st and that Narvaez has done well with Giolito over the next 4 innings.

Thielbar made mincemeat of of Abreu and Mayer in the 6th.  Story with the popup wasn't much better.

Two things - first, why do we have a major league pictcher walking the first 2 batters before giving up a gopher ball? What is he doing in the majors if he can't throw a strike whenever it is needed. Second, all this talk about trading Duran is total idiocrasy! If you want to get rid of an outfielder, dump Abeau (Mr. strikeout king).

I guess Toro was so happy that he finally got a hit, that he left his brains at home plate.....

I HATE WALKS FOR THEM AND STRIKEOUTS FOR US.

The counter argument is that the likely hitter he'd be replaced with in the cleanup spot wouldn't have made a difference considering how 4-9 has hit today.

Made me remember the old Sox manager Pinky Higgins.

Perfect managerial choice for the mid-century mediocrity of the Red Sox under Yawkey
