The Yankems scored 4 runs in this series. The fewest runs they've scored at Fenway in a 3 game series since 1922.

We will move up 1 spot. Seattle vs Cleveland later

. Both 1 game above .500. We will pass one of them.

My guess is that the zeal to fire Cora might have been tempered somewhat by the past 9 games.

I've always favored him, but I do not especially give him credit for what appears to be a real turnaround.  I give the credit to the players, especially the rotation.

Now a quick flight to Seattle followed by the Giants in SF and the Angels in LA.  A tough road trip, but I think there's a day off in there.

West Coast trips have rarely been the Sox friend.

Meanwhile, we can ignore that we have just Crochet, Dobbins, and Bello pitch 21.1 innings while giving up 1 freaking run to the Yankees.

You guys need to keep up with what's happening--or what seems to happening.  I'd like more starters too, but right now I'm borderline ecstatic about the rotation.

As for the lefty bats, I frankly don't give a darn.  The Sox hit lefties better than righties, and today Cora had 7 righty bats in the lineup.  You guys are trying to fix something that right now doesn't need fixing.

On the other hand, I can't resist saying I'm completely disgusted with Devers.  He has done his best to be the savior of the Yankees pitching staff.  His OPS has dropped 100 points since Bregman went on the IL.  He's in the right  position, DH, and he's being paid a king's ransom, so he must deliver at the plate and emphatically is not.

I wrote the above after Devers hit the dinger in the 5th.  So definitely my bad.  I was on the road from Virginia to Greensboro and simply missed it on my iphone.

How the heck did you know that?

I think they had a good one in 2018.

One of the hit songs from Damn Yankees is "You gotta have heart," and I think our guys showed a lot of heart this weekend and, actually, the last 9 games.

Throw in another ace we look like a real contender with Bregman returning.

I'd like to extend Chapman. A 2 year deal.

Agree you can never have too much good pitching.  Getting an ace is tricky even though Breslow did it last offseason.

Both Bello and Devers seem to play their best against the Yankems.

Bello was fantastic.  Devers not so much.

For now, I prefer to focus on what the Sox are doing because it's downright amazing.  They lost Bregman on May 23d and then nosedived from 27-26 to 30-35 and are now back to 1 game over.  In the absence of Bregman, Devers OPS dropped from .984 to .905.   Nevertheless, he is still 3d in MLB in rbi's with 58.  The leader (Alonso) has 63 and Judge has 60.  Meanwhile, a bunch of other guys have emerged, plus the rotation was stunning this weekend.

Now comes a daunting trip to the West Coast and Seattle, the Giants, and the Angels.

2 one-run wins this weekend ... really there is some evidence of bad luck turning around ... but still need more.

We all saw what our pitchers just did to the Yanks. Not talking about it first is not ignoring it.

Devers just homered. Why "ignore" that. (LOL- I couldn;t resist.)

SEA is up 6-0, late vs CLE, so the WC standings will look like this:

39-32 TBR +3

38-33 TOR+2

36-34 SEA --______

36-35 MN -0.5

37-36 BOS -0.5

35-35 CLE and 36-36 TEX -1.0

Crazy how in less than a week, so much can change.

Bello had a 3.86 ERA and 3.22 FIP over his previous 4 starts, before today's gem.

Maybe, he is finally giving us what we hoped he could.

Both the Bello & Rafaela extensions are looking better than they did a few weeks ago.

Bello’s stuff is really really good! But it always seemed like he never trusted it and nibbled!!!!

today he went after the yankee hitters and was absolutely dominant!!

Let’s hope he keeps this up for now on

Where I live in Central NY I can only get Sox/Yankem games on YES. That's where I got the info.

Neat.

There has always been the lure to good pitchers to try and get batters to swing at balls out of the K Zone or out of their comfort zone. Some of the best pitchers "go after" batters near but just out of the K zone more often than we might think.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Too much nibbling can backfire, and it also leads to high pitch counts and more taxing of the pen that is optimal.

Yeah.  I spoke/wrote too soon.  And I definitely ignored poor Raffy.  He's still 3d in rbi's in MLB.

If the Sox can go 5-4 or even 4-5 on this road trip, we got ourselves a season.
