The Red Sox with RISP were 4/23.

That is abysmal .

I will happily drive Kelly to the airport to make sure he f ucks off.
Bernardino needs to take a few days off to improve his fielding. He has 4 errors already this season

we can only pray for that. if it comes true this loss will not be for naught

As much I don’t like Kelly, he wasn’t that bad tonight. Cora walked Aranda giving Kelly little margin of error and Kelly is not made for that at all. These little intangible details have cost us a lot of games.

It was over when the Rays went up 3-0. I called it over then. The Flops never took the lead.

You called nothing, you turkey, not when the Sox scored 10 runs and took it to the 11th inning.

Seriously?  You called a 10-8 game over at 3-0?  Why are you bragging about being the fastest to the white flag?

Kelly only had 12 strikes in 23 pitches, and walked 3.

He flat out stunk

Technically he only walked two.  Aranda was intentional…

I called the game over and they lost. I’m almost always right.

But hey-just wait til next year, right?

They never took the lead. Had they done so it would have been one of the rare occasions when I got it wrong. It does happen. Rarely. But not tonight.

They never caught up. They lost. I was right.

"little intangible details" is a pile of crap.  Bernardino was awful tonight while giving up 2 runs.  He walked 1, gave up 2 hits, had a costly wild pitch, and also made a throwing error--and he got just one guy out.  Nonchalant rookie Anthony made a costly error in RF.  The Sox were 4 for 23 with RISP.  What am I forgetting?  Oh, yes, the Rays scored 10 runs,  7 of them earned.  The Sox scored 8, 7 of them earned.   Last night Cora used 8 relievers and tonight Kelly was his 7th.

The good news is the Sox didn't quit and found ways to come back and tie the score, including 2 freaking runs in the bottom of the 9th.  Also Bello had a quality start and has the 2d most on the team after Crochet.  Story made some good plays at SS and was 2/6 with an rbi.

These gut-punch losses are killing me.

Wait til next year…..or the year after….of the year after that.
It’s a crap franchise owned by a cheapskate owner and run by incompetent management for years now. The Rays with what-20% of our budget are consistently competitive. We aren’t. That’s why Henry has to sell the team, get out. He doesn’t give a crap about winning any more. He use to. Not now.

Yet we could have won despite all that, kind of the point.

I’m aware he only walked twice “technically”, but it’s 3 in his stat line.

"We just got to get better."

Cora's standard response

Maybe the Sox get better when you get gone.

He had 3 rookies in the game tonight, plus Rafaela in his 2d full season, Narvaez in his first full season, Toro who has bounced around MLB with a lifetime OPS of .656, and Gonzalez whose lifetime OPS is .680 and who has always been a part-time player.

Oh, and Cora's pitching staff's ERA is ranked 23d in MLB.

Cora could well get fired, but it will fix nothing.  The pitching stinks and our best hitter/player went on the IL May 23.  The Sox are 6 and 10 since then.

If we only sucked for this year or last year and this year that’s fine. But it’s been what-five years now?

Something has to change. Can’t fire Henry. Can’t fire the entire roster.

So Cora must go.

I agree losing provides a compelling argument for firing the manager.  However, it is unarguable that the quality of Sox players, especially the pitchers, has gone steadily down since 2019,  and that's mostly because JH didn't want to keep paying big bucks for pitchers who crap out--like Price and Sale on the 2019 team.

Also, 2021 was not a bad year, not when the Sox made it to the ALCS.

This isn’t a small market team with limited resources like the Rays. We should be competitive nearly every year. This is the fourth year in a row where we stink. That’s inexcusable. Something is rotten with this franchise-probably a lot is rotten, starting with the owners.
